or installation procedures which are attributable
to, or associated with, the equipment furnished.

6) Any special instructions left with
Contractor or Engineer.
D. Field Test Participation: Provide competent and
experienced technical representatives of all
equipment manufacturers and system suppliers
as necessary to participate in field testing of the
equipment.
E. Trouble-Free Operation: Provide competent and
experienced technical representatives of all
equipment manufactures and system suppliers as
necessary to place the equipment in trouble-free
operation after completion of start-up and field
tests.
B. Site Visit: Provide the services of an authorized
service representative for each equipment
manufacturer or system supplier to make a final
site visit after the equipment or system has been
in operation for at least 6 months, but no longer

received and approved before
commencement of training on the
individual equipment or system.
2) No system malfunctions occur during
training.
3) All provisions of field and classroom
training specifications are met.
b. Training not in compliance with the above will be
performed again in its entirety by the
manufacturer at no additional cost to the Owner.
Replace proposed training instructor if not
acceptable to the Owner or Engineer.
c. Organize training sessions as shown in the Training
Schedule (Operations, Maintenance and Electrical
/ Instrumentation and Control). Provide general
training to all sessions as part of the specific
training required for each group. Training
material and sessions shall be specifically
developed and tailored to the group being
trained.
d. Plan for minimum class attendance of 12 people at
each session and provide sufficient classroom
materials, samples, and handouts for those in
attendance.
e. Instructors to have a typed agenda, outline and
well prepared instructional material. The use of
visual aids, e.g., films, pictures, and slides is
recommended for use during the classroom
training programs. Submit proposed training
agendas and outlines to the Owner and Engineer
for approval a minimum of 15 business days prior
to the training. Revise until acceptable. Provide
equipment required for presentation of films,
slides, and other visual aids. Training materials
shall be related to the specific equipment; general
sales brochures are not acceptable.
f. In the on-site training sessions, cover the
information required in the Operation and
Maintenance manuals and the following areas as
applicable to the PCS.
1) Operation of equipment.
2) Lubrication of equipment.

3) Maintenance and repair of equipment.
4) Troubleshooting of equipment.
5) Preventive maintenance procedures.
6) Adjustments to equipment.
7) Inventory of spare parts.
8) Optimizing equipment performance.
9) Capabilities.
10) Operational safety.
11) Emergency situation response.
12) Takedown procedures (disassembly and
assembly).
g. Maintain a log of classroom training provided
including: Instructors, topics, dates, time, and
attendance.
h. Provide an electronic copy (pdf or PowerPoint
format) of the training handouts.
Shoring A. Provide surveys to monitor movements of critical

A. The Contractor shall retain the services of an
independent Professional Engineer registered in
the State of Virginia who is experienced with
grouted helical pull-down pier foundations to act
as the Contractor's representative responsible for
conducting soil boring, test pile installation, load
testing and observing all job pile installation. The
Engineer shall assist the Owner in determination
of the depth and torque required to achieve the
indicated pile capacities in compression based on

the soil boring, test pile installation records and
load test data. After determination of the

A. Pumps shall be protected against corrosion at
the factory for the period between shipment
and installation. All equipment delivered and
placed in storage shall be stored with
protection from the weather, excessive

variation; and dirt, dust, or other
contaminants. All machined surfaces shall be
slushed with heavy, non-corrosive oil, and all
bearings shall be lubricated. If the pumps are
to be stored for more than 90 days, the
interior of the pump shall be filled with a

high-grade non-corrosive oil, and all bearings

shall be lubricated. The Contractor shall
inspect the stored pumps weekly, manually
rotate or slide all moving parts, and renew
the slush oil as necessary. Before the pumps
are put into operation, they shall be cleaned.
Failure to maintain the pumps in like-new
condition during storage and installation will
be cause for rejection of the pumps.
A. The Contractor shall furnish the services of
the tank and leak sensor manufacturer’s
qualified field representative to inspect the
Fuel Supply System equipment after installation, instruct Owner’s
personnel in its operation and maintenance,

minimum of two 8 hour days
(nonconsecutive) as specified under Section
01340 – SUBMITTALS.
A. Installation of all equipment shall be in strict
accordance with the manufacturer's
recommendations as approved by the
OWNER and National Fire Protection
Association, Underwriters Laboratories, State
Fuel Supply System and Local applicable codes and ordinances.
Contractor shall furnish services of the

supervise the initial phase of setting and
aligning of the equipment; and after the
installation is completed for start-up, testing
and to instruct the OWNER in proper
maintenance.
2. A representative of the Manufacturer who has
thorough knowledge of proper operation and

perform startup operations and instruct

mechanical specifications, the Contractor shall
instruct the representative of the Owner in the
proper operation and maintenance of all
elements of the mechanical systems. A

Materials and Methods shall spend not less than two days in such formal
instruction and shall spend such additional time

basis at the service facility capable of making
repairs and responding to service calls within
24 hours of notice. Certified proof of this
requirement shall be available from the
Supplier.
K. Diagnostic Software:
1. Provide diagnostic software and all
Emergency Generator required cables for the engine and the
System generator. Software shall be furnished on a
CD.

use of the diagnostic software.
Emergency Generator A. The manufacturer of the emergency
System generating equipment shall furnish a qualified

technician, whose qualifications are

B. These services shall include not less than two

minimum of two trips.
B. Training:
1. Provide eight (8) hours of training on the
switchboard including operation of circuit

Switchboard device, and automatic transfer switch.
2. Training shall be conducted on two (2)

A. System Installation:
1. The System Supplier shall provide on-site
supervision and advice to the installing
contractor to ensure the system is installed

2. All field wiring to the equipment furnished by
17010-3.3.A & C the System Supplier shall be performed under
the electrical portion of the Contract unless

C. System Commissioning:
2. The System Supplier shall include in their
cost for this Contract a minimum of 24
hours for the commissioning of the scenario
described in Section 17500.

people on-site for the length of time
necessary for system installation, start-up,
and commissioning.
A. During the final acceptance test, the System
Supplier shall arrange for the instruction and
training of District personnel at the pump

performed by a qualified training specialist
from the VFD manufacturer.
