All packages should be closely examined at time of delivery. If damage is apparent write “Damage In Shipment” on ALL
copies of the freight or express bill BEFORE delivery is accepted or “signed for” by a GE representative or hospital receiving
agent. Whether noted or concealed, damage MUST be reported to the carrier immediately upon discovery, or in any event,
within 14 days after receipt, and the contents and containers held for inspection by the carrier. A transportation company
will not pay a claim for damage if an inspection is not requested within this 14 day period.

CERTIFIED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR STATEMENT

All electrical Installations that are preliminary to positioning of the equipment at the site prepared for the equipment shall be
performed by licensed electrical contractors. In addition, electrical feeds into the Power Distribution Unit shall be performed
by licensed electrical contractors. Other connections between pieces of electrical equipment, calibrations and testing shall
be performed by qualified GE Medical personnel. The products involved (and the accompanying electrical installations) are
highly sophisticated, and special engineering competence is required. In performing all electrical work on these products,
GE will use its own specially trained field engineers. All of GE’s electrical work on these products will comply with the
requirements of the applicable electrical codes.
The purchaser of GE equipment shall only utilize qualified personnel (i.e., GE’s field engineers, personnel of third-party
service companies with equivalent training, or licensed electricians) to perform electrical servicing on the equipment.

X-ray equipment if not properly used may cause injury. Accordingly, the instructions herein contained should be thoroughly
read and understood by everyone who will use the equipment before you attempt to place this equipment in operation. The
General Electric Company, Medical Systems Group, will be glad to assist and cooperate in placing this equipment in use.
Although this apparatus incorporates a high degree of protection against x-radiation other than the useful beam, no practical
design of equipment can provide complete protection. Nor can any practical design compel the operator to take adequate
precautions to prevent the possibility of any persons carelessly exposing themselves or others to radiation.
It is important that anyone having anything to do with x-radiation be properly trained and fully acquainted with the

SECTION 1 - INTRODUCTION
1-1 PURPOSE
The O2 to Linux OC Upgrade Kit is intended to be used on the installed base of CT/e, ProSpeed AI/FI Series (O2
system) and CT/e Dual, ProSpeed AII/FII Series (O2 system) scanner. According to the following procedures the
O2 console can be upgraded to Linux console.
A steering guide is shown in Section 1-2.
The materials of the upgrade kit are listed in Section 2.

SECTION 3 - UPGRADE PROCEDURE
NOTICE
Since Irix system state can not be restored to Linux system, so all the related information
(such as: options, configurations, protocols, etc...) should be written down in advance for
later reconfig.
All the Irix option keys should be prepared by Linux option keys, Irix 3D option has been re-
placed by Linux Volume Analysis option, for other detailed information, please contact ap-
plication specialist and sales people.
Entire upgrade time needs 8 hours, this is up to different engineers.
The following procedures can be performed refer to Section 2 Wiring Diagram.
3-1 PREPARATION
1. Verify that the contents of this upgrade kit are correct according to the Material List (see Section 2).
2. Save Patient Images.
3. Record camera data (for the system with camera only).
4. Record Options Information.
a. On the desktop menu, click on List Option button located on the upper right of the screen.
Option list will appear.
b. Click on the current Irix system “Installed option” and check if the corresponding Linux option keys are ready
on hand.
c. Click Quit to return to the desktop menu.
5. Write down all the configuration and protocols information for later use.
6. Click on Shutdown on the desktop menu.
7. Few seconds later, the message “Okay to power off the system now. Press any key to restart.” appears.
8. Press the Power button on Front of OC to power off.

THE ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD!
IF THE SYSTEM HAS UPS ASSY, MAKE SURE YOU TURN OFF THE UPS POWER BEFORE
YOU ACCESS THE OPERATOR CONSOLE.
CAUTION
FOLLOW ALL ELECTRO-STATIC DISCHARGE PROCEDURES. ALWAYS USE ESD WRIST
STRAP AND GROUNDING CORDS. THE USE OF A GROUND MONITOR IS SUGGESTED.
Understand and follow the Safety Guidelines Manual.

1. Turn OFF the OC main power.
2. For system with UPS, turn OFF the UPS power.
3. Cut off the power from the Hospital Power Distribution Box and perform LOTO procedures.
4. Remove front, rear, left and right covers from OC.
5. Turn off CB1, CB2 at right side of OC.

1. Remove the six (6) screws at the front of the SCSI Bay and the two (2) screws at the rear of the SCSI Bay that
fasten the SCSI Bay (see Illustration 3-1).
2. Remove the SCSI Bay right dust cover by unscrewing its four(4) screws.
3. Remove the OC Host PC Front Cover by unscrewing its six (6) screws (Illustration 3-1).

4. Disconnect the remaining connectors from the Host CPU Assy (Host Video, SCSI Cable, Ethernet, Serial 1,
Serial 2, Keyboard, Mouse, Bit3 Cable (HDD connector), Power Cable).
5. Disconnect the Audio connectors located on the right side of the Host CPU. (See Illustration 3-3)
6. Remove the two (2) screws that fasten the Host CPU Assy. (See Illustration 3-2)

7. Slide out the Host CPU and the Host PC Support, avoiding that the cables and connectors obstruct the Host
CPU Assy removal. (See Illustration 3-3).

8. Install four PC holders and two straps to the new Host PC Support (2369471-2). (Illustration 3-4)
9. Place the Host PC865 (5189991) on the Host PC Support, fasten the four PC holders and tighten the two straps
to fix the Host PC865.

10. Place the Host PC865 and the Host PC Support to the slide-rail of the OC, connect the cable connectors to the

3-4 PERIPHERAL REPLACEMENT

1. Slide out the SCSI Bay.
2. Disconnect the connectors (signal and power cable connectors) from the rear of the HDD(s), 3.5” MOD and the
CD-ROM.
3. Unscrew the HDD mounting screws, remove the HDD(s) and CD-ROM front covers by unscrewing screws and
slide the HDDs, 3.5” MOD and the CD-ROM forward and out of the OC.

10. Install the SCSI DVD-RAM Drive to the Peripheral Assy of the OC by screwing the DVD-RAM mounting screws.
11. Connect the SCSI Signal Cable and Power Cable to the SCSI DVD-RAM Drive.
12. Install the two new HDDs to the Peripheral Assy of the OC by screwing the HDD mounting screws.
13. Connect the Signal Cables and Power Cables to the HDDs according to Table 3-1.

When connect the SATA Cables, be sure that the upper HDD is connected to the upper con-
nector (SATA 0). Otherwise System Disk and Image Disk may be mixed up during next HDD
replacement and software loading will result in losing image.

6. Disconnect the cable connectors from two DBPCIs (J2 and J3).
7. Unscrew the screws on the DBPCI board bracket.
8. Remove the DBPCI Assy from the PCI backplane.
9. Insert the new DBPCI II Assy to the PCI backplane, slowly pushing the board, until it reaches the backplane.
10. Secure the DBPCI II Assy by using its screws.
11. Unscrew the two screws on the Rear CN1 Panel, and slide the Rear CN1 Panel Assy out of the Connector
Panel Assy. (Illustration 3-16)
12. Disconnect the Audio Cables (In/Out) from the J6 and J7 of the Rear CN1.

3-6 REAR FAN ASSY REPLACEMENT

1. Remove the right rear fan assy by unscrewing its screws from the back of the OC. (See Illustration 3-21)
2. Disconnect the power cable.
3. Remove the fan from the panel by unscrewing the two(2) screws.
4. Install the new fan.
5. Repeat Steps 1 to 4 to replace the left rear fan assy.
Note
After the Rear Fan Assy replacement, confirm the air flow direction is outward.

3-7 RESTORE OC APPEARANCE

1. Install the two (2) screws to fasten the Host PC.
2. Install the OC Host PC Front Cover by screwing its six (6) screws.
3. Install the SCSI Bay right dust cover by screwing its four (4) screws.
4. Install the eight (8) screws to fasten the SCSI Bay.
5. Turn on CB1, CB2 at right side of the OC.
6. Install the Shield Board to the OC Front Cover.

1. Power ON the OC, press Meas Dist to reach BIOS Set screen when the Pentium Logo displayed on the
screen.
2. Enter password "linux".
3. Select Set User Password, click "Enter" three times to cancel original password. Then "Save & Exit Setup".
Reboot the system, enter BIOS again.
