Job Description:
1. Summary of Key Functions:

 Identify value chain opportunities for sustainable livelihood, by evaluating existing supply
chains, and recommend additional priority opportunities for value chain development;
 Confirm the technical viability of producing high value crops in the identified area.
 Provide technical support to the beneficiaries and farmers in the identification of the most
appropriate technologies (structure designs, planting materials, small scale processing
equipment etc.,) to be established on affiliated farmer properties.
 Provide on time technical assistance to Greenhouse, open field vegetable production and
mushroom production beneficiaries.
 Hold discussions and group meetings with farmers and beneficiaries to identify the
strengths, constraints they face, and opportunities (socially and economically viable for
both parties) in entering into contract supply and/or receivable arrangements.
 Initiates and supervises capacity building and awareness raising of the related project
activities to the project participants including beneficiaries, community entities, and other
project stakeholders.
 Contribute to project activities through sharing experiences and his/her findings,
 Undertake any other task assigned by the supervisor

2. Key relations:     

 Internal: Field Supervisor, Agriculture Development Advisor (Greenhouse management),


Project technical staff, Monitoring and Reporting Officer, and other CARE/LAMP projects
related staff.
 External: local authorities, community beneficiaries, and community members.

4. Key Results Expected:

 Take an active part with regards to beneficiary selection, site selection, land preparation,
and other activities;
 Provide guidance and supervise establishment of greenhouse, open field vegetable
production and mushroom production.
 Support and assist in the selection of marketable varieties of vegetables for male and
female farmers and support the project for effective linkages among producers, input
suppliers, and traders.
 Disease and pest management of overall management of greenhouse, open field
vegetable farming, mushroom production units, soil, and water management, and
Mulching.
 Provide training materials in horticulture products, modern agricultural practices, open
field vegetable farming, greenhouses production, mushroom production and supply chain
management mechanism under the FFS (Farmer Field School) sessions
 Assist and build the capacity of farmers on best practices regarding the greenhouse
technology, open field vegetable farming and mushroom production to improve the
quality and quantity of their production;
 Regular supervise and follow up of project supported interventions (greenhouses, open
field vegetable farms and mushroom production units).
 Prepare seasonal calendar for project supported interventions and ensure quality
assurance of activities and inputs distributed.
 Keep record of area production and yield of project supported interventions.
 Coordinate and maintain contact with other NGOs, government partners and private
sector working in the area.
 Contribute to new project concept based on the knowledge of the communities.
 Assesses the needs in communities as required
 Collect data for the project periodic reports
 Provide updates and stories for CARE/LAMP.

 
Job Requirements:
1. Competence:

Enthusiasm to the job, gender sensitivity, willingness to work in rough field conditions.
Willingness to travel as per the project requirements, a self-starter and well experience
training and good communicator.

Core Competencies:

Extension, community agriculture development, greenhouse, open field vegetable and


mushroom production.

Education: 

Bachelor Degree in Agriculture (preference will be given to Horticulture graduates, and


other related field)

Work Experience:

4 years of experience in agriculture extension, horticulture related projects, greenhouse


management and vegetable production.

Languages Skills:
Excellent communication in both Pashto and Dari languages, reading and writing ability
in English
