Strapline:

Film a fun challenge (tbc) with an England footballer to promote The ‘Sweetstake’ with the Mars brand.

What We’re After:

•   We’re looking for a director to shoot a snappy film featuring a skills challenge with a leading England
footballer. A sample of the challenge idea is available to download from the sidebar. Please note this set-up
is an example only. The creative for the challenge is still in progress and will be shared once agreed with the
appropriate stakeholders.

•   You and your team will need to be able to work quickly under pressure as we will only have two hours with
our footballer.

•   As a first step, we would simply like samples of relevant work that demonstrate the director’s (and
production company’s) experience. Simply upload a one-page with a cover note and links to relevant work.
Alternatively, you can use the submission page to upload your links and the text field to draft a brief cover
note.

•   Note that there is no treatment stage on this project. The director will be selected on the basis of their reel
and a shortlist will then be contacted with for further discussion as to their approach before being assigned.

Creative Direction:

The film will need to feel stylistic, contemporary and cool. The edits will be snappy landing the message and
brand upfront.

This is for a social campaign, so we want the videos to be engaging and, really importantly, start with a very
strong opening that will grab people’s attention.

Background:

This social campaign is part of big activation this summer called “The Sweetstake” which is an on pack
promotion running across 10 blockbuster confectionery brands including Mars, M&Ms, Revels, Galaxy,
Maltesers, Skittles, Starburst, Extra, Twix, and Snickers. The promotion will be flashed on over 100million
packs offering people the chance to win thousands of prizes and up to £10.000. To support this activation and
to reinforce the strong relationship between the brand and the England team, a 360 campaign including a TV
commercial is being developed with Mars branding. The Mars brand has a partnership with the FA and
therefore has access to players and other England team assets.

This social campaign will feature one England player with the objective of driving awareness around The
Sweetstake.

Other considerations:

Due to the nature of shooting footballers, there will need to be a degree of flexibility in terms of the final challenges
agreed, the shoot date and location. Even the footballer themselves may be changed at short notice pending their
schedule, or injury, for example. We only have 2 hours with the player so must make the most of the time allocated
and ensure there is a rigid schedule.

Any changes that are made which will impact the budget will be addressed with the client accordingly.

As well as the challenge film, we are also asking the footballer to record some pieces-to-camera which will include
internal messaging to Mars company associates and Mars customers (Tesco, Asda, Poundland, and Coo., these will
therefore also need to be factored into your shooting schedule.

You will need to edit, grade and mix the films.

Audio:

•   Sound recorded from shoot.

•   You will need to provide a music track.

Graphics:

•   We will provide you with the end frame artwork.

Final Deliverables:

-   1 x 90” and 20” (exact length tbc)

-   1 x Internal comms piece to camera
-   4 x Retailer piece to camera

Process and Timeline:

•   As a first step, we’d like samples of the director’s (and production company’s) relevant work and experience,
with any information you think important in your cover note. This is a director search only.
•   The production window, including pre-production, is currently intended from 1st – 25th May so please ensure
you’re available before pitching on this brief.
•   The fixed budget will need to cover all production elements, including production and post production,
including music licensing.
•   Clients, agency and football rep’s will be on the shoot and catering. See production checklist download
for more details.
