YEAR 1 PACKAGE

PROJECT AIM
• To develop, create and pitch an original advert package across multiple formats.

OVERVIEW
In the media industry video adverts are a quick and easy way to promote a product in a short time frame. Current day adverts have become multi dimensional
and are in-sync across different platforms: television, radio, online, posters, social media etc. 
Creative Agencies are now responsible for the development, delivery and creative content that you see every day.

In-order for you to be prepared for this industry, you are going to form your own Creative Agency and plan, produce and pitch your own Advert package. 
In small groups you will undertake the following-

• Engage in Research into different advert structures, techniques, styles, codes, standards, campaigns & target audience.
• Plan and complete Pre-production paperwork to a high standard.
• Produce a Filmed advert that advertises your product.
• Produce a Radio advert that promotes your product.
• Create a Poster that matches your videos themes and style.
• Utilise Social Media to enhance your viewership, with one form of interactive media involved in your advertising package.
• Once you have produced your advert package you must Pitch it to a commissioning panel.
• You will provide continuous Reflections of each process and summarise it into a final Evaluation.
PRE-PRODUCTION FOLDER DEADLINE: 23/02/21 – 5pm

Your Pre-production folder will now be integrated into your Weebly and will
include the following –
• Proposal
• Treatment
• Social Media Plan
• Moodboards
• Storyboards
• Shot Lists
• Script (video & radio)
• Location Recces
• Industry Budget
• Legal requirements (e.g. evidence of relevant CAP Codes and copyrighted music)

For the Research section it is useful to consider and explain What, Why and How that research is useful.
(E.g What did you find out? Why is it relevant? And How can it be useful for your Advert?)

For the Reflection stages, it is useful to consider and explain What, Why and How you did something.
(E.g What did you do? Why did you do it? How was it useful?

Remember to make it visual, include pictures and videos and always fully elaborate on your
written sections, with examples.

POSTER DEADLINE: 22/01/21 – 12.30pm

Design a Poster for your Advert that matches your Films theme and style.
Your poster must consist of the following -
• The Product
• Tag Line 
• Your Social Media handle must be included.

SOCIAL MEDIA
Set up and manage a social media site that stays consistent with your Adverts theme and style.
Remember to regularly update it and try to engage as many followers/likes as possible.
You can choose any form of interactive media you want to use (e.g QR Code, Twitter #, Snapchat
Story, Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok, Website Link).

RADIO ADVERT DEADLINE: 29/01/21 – 5pm

You must produce an original Radio Advert for your product that is exactly 30 seconds long.
You must include dialogue, sound effects and music or a jingle.

Your Radio advert must be consistent with your film and posters theme.

You must not go under or over the allocated time.

The Radio advert must be completed and exported as an MP3 in time for your Pitch.

FILMED ADVERT DEADLINE: 05/02/21 – 5pm

You will work in a small group to produce an original 30 - 60 second advert for a product of your
choosing. 

You must consider the products current branding and target audience whilst adhering to CAP codes
and ASA Standards.

You should include a range of shots, editing techniques, colour scheme, music, dialogue or VO, sound
effects and titles.
Carefully consider your mise-en-scene, costumes, props, actors and locations.

You must not go under or over the allocated time.


Films must be completed and exported as H.264 Mov files in time for your Pitch.

PITCH DEADLINE: 12/02/21 – 9.30am

You will have 15 minutes to pitch your advert package to a panel of commissioners in the hope that they will want to commission your
Advert package for their product.
Your pitch should consist of the following –
• Introductions
• Your advert concept/theme
• Explain how it meets the target audience and current branding of the product
• Tag line
• Your adverts structure, style & techniques of persuasion.
• The Poster and Social Media campaign
• Your Call to Action
• Potential extra Marketing opportunities 
• The Radio Advert
• The Filmed Advert
• Proposed Platform and advertising slots
• Quote a Price for your package.
• Conclusion

Your Pitch should be visually pleasing, unique and memorable. REFER TO MATRIX NUMBER: 1
FINAL EVALUATION DEADLINE: 23/02/21 – 5pm

Upon completion of your Pitch you must submit an Evaluation.


This evaluation should take into consideration peer & tutor feedback & consist of a full explanation of the following -
Effectiveness of Pitch
• Communication
• Content
• Clarity

Advert Package
Reflect on the advert, radio, social media and poster and consider the following -
• Appropriateness to the brands/products target audience
• Effectiveness of concept
• How your research benefitted your advert
• Effectiveness and consistency of each element (film, radio, poster, social media)
 
Ensure you discuss how you could improve your advert package next time (based on your own thoughts and feedback received from your
Peers).
Also ensure you discuss the extra challenges that Covid-19 created and how you overcame them.

As a group you will work together to delegate tasks and complete the following -
A Poster advertising your product - Due 22nd January 12.30pm
A Radio Advert - Due 29th January 5pm
A Filmed Advert - Due 5th February 5pm
A Social media page set up and updated regularly - Due 12th February 9.30am
Pitch your advert package - Due 12th February 9.30am

You will complete an individual Weebly and include the following sections -
• Context
• Research
• Practical Skills
• Reflections & Final Evaluation
Due 23rd February 5pm
