received in Technical Drafting.
This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both from
public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners
meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and
economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning
activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the
needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of the module:
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You also
need to keep track of the learners’ progress while allowing them to manage their own learning.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and the learners as they do the tasks included

This module provides varied activities that will help you acquire knowledge in handling
tools, equipment and paraphernalia. It will also help you perceive and indicate the appropriate
and suitable instruments for a certain task.
At the end of this module, you are expected to:
• identify the different types of forms in requesting and borrowing of drafting tools,
instruments, equipment, and drafting materials;
As Jasmin draws closer to college, her passion for drawing and architecture intensifies.
Her determination, wanting to be a great architect in the future was firm and established.
However, there is one thing that worries her, she heard from other people that the subject,
Drafting is somehow costly, due to tools and materials that are needed. Nonetheless, she still
ignores that fact and put up her eagerness and perseverance to achieve her ambition. On
the first day of her drafting class, she keeps on thinking of ways on how to acquire the tools
that will be used for their upcoming activities. Her unsettling situation and worries were felt and
noticed by her drafting class; she keeps on thinking of ways on how to acquire the tools that
will be used for their upcoming activities. Her unsettling situation and worries were felt and
noticed by her teacher and asked the class to approach him if there are concerns.
Jasmin is now rest assured that she will get all her task done.

Check your answer using the Answer Key. If you got 9-10 correct answers, that
means you are knowledgeable with the lesson covered by Learning Outcome
No. 2. Congratulations, you can move to the Learning Outcome No. 3.
But if you got 2 or more incorrect answers, read and study the lesson thoroughly
so you can better understand and master the skills. Afterwards, you can prepare
succeeding to the next Learning Outcome.
In mechanical drawing, you use tools in every work. That’s why there are regulations that
are needed to be followed and executed in order to avoid incidents.
Before we continue in accomplishing various forms relating in tools and materials, let us first
have a short review about the safety procedures on how to maintain hand tools, drawing
Direction: Read the statement carefully, and write whether it is a “do” or a “don’t”.
_______ 1. Be sure to inspect tools before using them. This is to check if they are in
working condition. This can be detected when there is ease and speed when in
use.
_______ 2. After using a tool, clean it thoroughly with a damp cloth. Wipe it dry with another
piece of cloth before keeping it.
_______ 3. Avoid throwing tool to anybody instead hand it over properly.
_______ 4. It’s okay to still use an instrument even if it is not in a good state.
_______ 5. Do not report defective tool to an instructor.
6
If you got a perfect score, you are undeniably correct about the safety
procedures. You are definitely aware of some of the ways on how to take care of your
hand tools and materials.
As an explanation for those who had a hard time answering the questions,
numbers 1, 3 and 5, are the few ways on how to make the tools last and truly
beneficial. On the contrary, numbers 2 and 4, illustrate two mishandling of tools and
materials

Do you have an idea on what’s the difference between Aided and Unaided Visual Inspection?
Aided visual inspection works with use of any of optical or mechanical instruments.
On the other hand, Unaided visual inspection works without the use of any optical or
mechanical instruments.
The second process is the Accuracy which is the ability of the instrument to measure
the accurate value. In other words, it is the closeness of the measured value to a standard or
true value. The accuracy can be obtained by taking the small readings. The small reading
reduces the error of the calculation.
The third process is the Precision which means two or more values of the
measurements are closed to each other. The value of precision differs because of the
observational error. The precision is used for finding the consistency or reproducibility of the
measurement.
These three processes will be able to help you a lot in inspecting your tools and
instruments in Drafting.
To acquire and inspect drafting tools and materials, it is important to evaluate the tools and
materials receiving/using them so that you can ask for replacements for those that you found
defective.
Always handle the materials and tools carefully. (Avoid dropping the tools on the floor,
do not expose tools and materials on sunlight or rains)
We also have different types of forms. It is very important to know the importance and
purpose of each in order to acquire right, complete, and accurate number of materials and
tools needed in a specific drawing job. Requisition form is an official form on which a request
is made. The different types of forms are mentioned below:
9
Purchase Requisition form this is used for purchases requests with specified details
such as stock number, particular descriptions, blueprints, catalogue numbers, weights, brand
name, exact quantities to order and suggested prices.
Inventory form contains information about items (name, number, sales and purchase
information, and cost of goods sold account information) that any business purchases for sale,
tracks in inventory, and displays on a balance sheet.
Borrower’s form is a form used to request for tools and equipment needed for a
particular job. It indicates the department that the borrower is connected, the date, the job that
is to be done, who is the person to approve the request, when it was returned and if it was in
good condition.
To accomplish the borrower’s form, study the suggested procedure below, and also
look at the example after it.
1. Identify and list the tools/equipment/instruments required for the activity or project.
2. Finalize the quantity, description and others if there is any.
3. Fill up and complete the information required in the Borrower’s Slip.
4. Let your teacher/adviser sign the Borrower’s Form and photocopy it once it is signed and
accomplished.
5. Submit the accomplished and signed form to the property custodian and let him/her sign
the photocopy of the Borrower’s form as receiving copy.
6. Ask the property custodian the possible date and time to get the requested materials.
7. See the property custodian on the specified date and receive the materials requested. Bring
the copy of the Borrower’s Slip to verify the description, quantity and others. If there are
any discrepancies on the requested and received materials, write these in the column
“remark” of the Borrower’s Slip.

Put a Remark!
Direction: Complete the table below. Categorize the condition of each tool, check the box
under the thumbs up if it is good, and thumbs down if the tool is in bad quality,
and explain why you answered that way
14
Direction: Following the completion of various activities, you are now familiar with the proper
ways of accomplishing the request form. Write your perception about the
significance of it.
15
Directions: Spot and pick one furniture or fixture at home that may be helpful to you as a
student, and can make your studying more fun and comfortable. Planning and
drawing the object that you have chosen would be a great start. But remember,
you need complete tools and materials to plan it properly. Doing a request form
would be an advantage. Fill up the borrower’s slip below to have the tools,
materials, and equipment needed for your project.
Directions: Match column A with column B. Write the letter of the answer on the space
provided.
