Mesh products, tapes and ancillary

items for pipeline and utility projects
Extruded mesh and tape products are used in pipeline and utility projects to protect,
identify, locate and warn of proximity.
Flexible mesh products are used in major pipeline projects to replace the thick sand collar
that would traditionally have been placed to cushion the protective coating around a
steel pipe.
Sand is a primary resource and is not always available locally to an overland project. Even
when it is, its bulk means there is a heavy environmental price to pay for its transportation.
Sand requires plant for installation and it is difficult to place consistently around a pipe. A
polymeric mesh is more compact to transport and it can be installed relatively quickly
and with consistency. As with sand, the mesh prevents stone in the backfill from abrading
and puncturing the pipe’s coating which would otherwise interrupt the cathodic protection
system.
Ancillary items include cable covers, marker plates and signs.

Protectamesh™HD Rockshield
Pipe protection mesh
Protectamesh™HD Rockshield is a new thick pipeline
protection mesh manufactured by Fiberweb Geosynthetics
for protecting pipeline coatings from rock backfills.
Protectamesh™HD cushions the impact of rocks which
can cause damage to the pipe coating and result in the
corrosion of the pipeline and is essential for projects
where pipelines are constructed through rocky terrain.
Mesh thickness of 10mm (0.40”)
Supplied in widths 1.22m, 1.53m or

Rockshield
Pipe protection mesh

Rockshield meshes are manufactured from high density
polyethylene, and are designed to act as a shield against
impact damage from rocks during backfilling, ensuring the
protective coatings on the pipes are not damaged.
Rockshield meshes can be used where metallic pipes are
installed in rocky terrain, or in areas where soil movement
is a possibility.

The polyethylene mesh can incorporate a blowing agent to
produce a strong cellular cushioning structure offering
maximum protection against rock impact damage during
backfilling operations and protruding rocks in the trench.
Chemically inert, the mesh will not rot and the open mesh
structure allows water to flow around the pipe ensuring
cathodic protection is not affected.
Various grades of mesh are offered to produce a range
of solutions to meet the most demanding conditions.
A wide range of alternative grades can be manufactured
to your specification subject to a minimum order
quantity. Rockshield mesh can be manufactured in
various roll sizes and cut pieces, with widths up to 2.5m
wide and in various lengths. Custom mesh structures
and roll sizes can be manufactured to suit individual
requirements subject to minimum order quantities.

Rockshield
Application Diagram
PADS
Custom cut pads should be wrapped around the
circumference of the pipe, covering all exposed

areas. Ensure that all pads are of sufficient
dimension to protect the entire pipe.
All pad overlaps shall be placed at the 6 o’clock
position of the pipe, taking care to secure
the PROTECTAMESH with a polypropylene banding.
Place all end to end overlaps min. 50mm/ 2”; all
parallel pad overlaps min.150mm/ 6”.
All pads shall be secured to the pipe by using a min.
18mm/ 0.7” wide polypropylene banding.
After pads are secured to the pipe, the backfill
process may take place.

ROLLS
All rolls should be of adequate coverage to entirely cover the circumference of the pipe.
PROTECTAMESH is to be placed around pipe, whereby placing overlap portion at the 6 o’clock
position of the pipe.
Place all end to end overlaps min. 50mm/ 2”; all parallel pad overlaps min 150mm/ 6”.
In the event that a side overlap is used place the overlaps “shingle style”. This will ensure that no backfill will protrude under
the PROTECTAMESH
After pads are secured to the pipe, the backfill process may take place.

Railway Datum Gauges

A plastic plate used to mark the correct level or position of the track.
The plate is attached to a fixed object such as a platform or a
bridge.
Each plate is manufactured from a durable plastic ’Luran S’ and
is supplied with a red/green block & slider and spaces for security
snap fit inserts.

Plate size: 140mm x 200mm

We can also provide steel, aluminium and plastic backing plates

for secure fitting.
Each plate requires 12 x Snap fit 40mm inserts and 4 x 10m
inserts which we can provide at an extra cost.
