13 ways to control Time for you

Is Time Management Important?

Time is our greatest asset.

Time once gone, never comes back.

We need to multiply time.

We need to ensure that we increase our day beyond 24 hours.

Is it really possible to work for more than 24 hours a day?

Oh yes!

But how?

By having a super amazing team.

Say you have 5 team members, each working for 7 hours a day.

Automatically 35 hours of work is being done within 7 hours.

This is how we leverage time.

Now, the question which I commonly ask people is which is more important:
time or money?

At times, I feel shocked when I get to hear the answer as: money.

That is not the case.

You need to increase the value of each hour to earn more money.

There is no point in confusing busyness with business.

At times, we pretend to be busy, however, later we realize nothing

productive has been done.

If we don’t manage time well, we will end up spending it rather wasting it on

small tasks that can be outsourced.

13 strategies to control time for you

1.) List

Make a list of all the activities you did in the past week, every single thing
that you can recollect.

Have a look at it.

Ask yourself are these things helping me achieve my dreams, are they
adding value to my work?

Now, strike off the things that add no value to your dreams, goals, vision or
work.

Now, stop doing those activities by finding a way out.

Come again after a week and analyze what you have done.

Do reward yourself after a productive day.

2.) Be decisive

Stop being worried about being wrong.

It is better to be wrong than regretting.

Take more initiatives in life.

We waste a lot of time just thinking about what to do and what not to do.

From choosing which clothes to wear to what to order in the restaurant, we

waste a lot of time.
The way you do one thing is the way you do everything.

Starting from small things, deciding fast may be choosing a pair of slippers,
mobile phones, then gradually some decisions pertaining to career, work,
family and life.

3.) Autopilot

More work on autopilot = More results.

Automation basically means work being done without your interference.

Push your team and the work goes on autopilot mode.

You can also use various software and ensure work keeps happening even
when you are sleeping.

4.) Make a To-do and done list

We often make To-do lists that are not realistic.

Make realistic To-do lists and at the same time, make a Done list next to it.

Once you complete a task, enter it in the Done list.

It gives a sense of accomplishment and you feel good.

Once you have done all the tasks and entered them, reward yourself and
then increase the bar for the next day.

Gradually start working for more duration, I don’t mean multi-task rather do
important tasks for a longer duration by increasing the efforts.

5.) Early bird or Night owl

Find out when you are most active and productive.

Early morning or late nights?

Spend your productive time doing important tasks which need your 100%
undivided focus and attention.

Don’t waste your super productive time doing tasks that are not important.

Many people say that morning is when they are productive and then what
they do is as soon as they wake up they start scrolling the phone - Think
about it and ask yourself is it needed?
Why not utilize that time for good?
6.) Close circle

Your close circle should have positive and driven people only.

Less people, less drama.

You are the sum total of 5 people you spend your time with.

If you are always surrounded by people who are not driven and gossip
about unnecessary things, you are going to be the sixth.

You gotta take that call of removing a few people from your life who do no
good and add no value.

If you always try to please others, you will be unhappy because it is not
possible to help others.

7.) No notifications zone

This is a very peaceful state.

This helps you focus and concentrate on your work better.

One notification rings, our dopamine spike releases and immediately we

check it.

Further, social media is designed in such a way that once you enter a
social media platform, it is impossible to leave in 2 seconds and you end up
wasting a lot of your precious time.

Keep your notifications off, trust me if anything is important it will reach you,
people will call you and inform you about something very important.

8.) No Binge-Watching

It is a big culprit behind the wastage of your precious time.

It is a bad trap and later you feel guilty.

It affects your mindset.

Your sleep quality also deteriorates.

You are always in the zone thinking about what will happen next and as a
result, your focus on work decreases.

It also leads to other health issues like obesity.

9.) Softwares

Softwares like Calendly, Smart Task and Trello help you plan and manage
your time.

Softwares makes our tasks way easier and more efficient.

Gone are those registers and diaries to maintain things.

Now you have softwares to track everything in a better and efficient way.

You don’t have to separately allocate tasks to your team, software will do
that.

You don’t have to wait to get the meeting done, just do an online meeting
on short notice.

10.) Don’t multitask

If you try chasing two rabbits, you’ll catch none.

Better catch one, keep it aside, then try chasing another.

Don’t multitask unless it is absolutely necessary.

You’ll never become a pro at 2 things in one go.

Multitasking reduces your efficiency and performance because your brain

can only focus on one thing at a time.

When you try to do two things at once, your brain lacks the capacity to
perform both tasks successfully.

Surely in the future there will come a time when you’ll have the capacity
and capability to multitask. Have patience till the time you get there.

11.) Weekends

What’s your first reaction to reading the word “weekend”?

Laziness, sleep, leisure, relaxation?

Good enough.

Nonetheless, the same would your competitors think and do.

You need to dominate and get an edge over them right?

There is no traffic in the extra mile, you need to go that extra mile.

Thus, “Don’t work for weekends, rather work on weekends”

12.) Learn to say NO

Be bold enough to tell NO to the things that you don’t want.

You know deep inside what is good and bad for you.

If you meet new people, if you don’t like them, don’t say anything after a Hi
or Hello.

Learn to prioritize.

Telling NO is not bad, It just means Next Opportunity.

13.) Get that talk done

A lot of things are in our mind that we want to tell others.

Maybe something that you don’t like about a person or thing.

Don’t hesitate, don’t waste your time by stressing and overthinking about it.

Don’t think as to what they’ll think, just go and do that talk.

Implement all the above strategies and get the time working for you.
