TITLE OF TEACH-HER: AN INTERVENTION PROGRAM FOR ONLINE
RESEARCH DISTANCE LEARNING TEACHERS ASSESSMENT
DIVISION CAVITE PROVINCE

Context and Rationale

 The fundamental reason for this proposal is to know the level of competencies of online
distance learning teachers with the use of technology. This will focus on the teachers who
need assistance in terms of technology as an intervention program. Online distance learning
is something new to us. Nowadays, ICT is one of the most essential in the teaching and
learning process.
 The use of online distance education has become popular over the past two decades,
providing many benefits for adult learners. In many countries, online distance learning
universities have been developed to respond to the educational needs of learners who are
not able to attend face−to−face, classroom−based instruction at a brick−and−institution
(Beldarrain, 2006; Dooley, Linder, Dooley, & Burford, 2005). The growth of online distance
education is partly due to globalization and competitiveness of higher education and the
development of information and communication technologies (ICT), which have brought
about a dramatic transformation, particularly in the Asian region (Jung, 2009).
 The online distance learning model has gained paramount importance partly because of the
fact that virtually anyone can participate, and the students can study according to their own
schedules, making the university experience easier to accommodate while working. These
online distance learning systems provide more opportunities for those busy working adults
who wish to realize their ambitions in order to enhance their competitive edge for
advancement, facilitate a career change, or for any other reason they may have for wanting
to continue their education (Evans & Lockwood, 1994; Evans & Nation, 1996). Online
distance education has become another way for institutions of higher learning to reach out
to learners.
 Teaching in an online course involves more than replicating classroom strategies in a
different form. It “requires a different approach - one that focuses less on the amount of
time students spend together in a particular place, and more on facilitating a distance
community and on activities designed for students working individually” (University of
Washington, 2004).

Action Research Questions

 What is the level of competencies of Online Distance Learning Teachers with the use of
technology?
 Who are the teachers that need intervention?
 What intervention program will be used?
 Is the program effective?

Proposed Innovation, Intervention and Strategy

 Online classes have become an incredibly popular way for teachers to teach students
especially during this hard time of pandemic that the country is experiencing. Teaching an
online class requires different methods from the traditional classroom, so it’s important that
teachers adapt or develop their skills to the online learning environment, to make their
materials effective and engaging for learners. Here are some proposed innovations and
strategies that we develop for teachers using online platforms.

 Innovation
 Utilization of Zoom.us meeting for teachers
 Implementation of Google Meet
 Use of different platforms like Kahoot, Socrative, Mentimeter, Quizizz etc.
 Maximize the use of Google Suite provided by the Office of Education
 Creative interactive activities for teaching

 Strategies
 How to engage with your learners online?
 How to create a supportive learning environment?
 How to create or provide Ongoing Feedback?
 What are the challenges in the current online learning scenario?
 How to get to know each of your students?

This paper proposes an analytical approach for the research on the Technical proficiencies of
Teachers in Tanza National Comprehensive High School. First, there is a very brief discussion of the
problem and research questions. Then, the paper includes a plan for collecting and analyzing data
focusing on analysis for the quantitative phase of the research.
