2.3 Beyond Classroom Day

Aligning with Ministry of Education’s efforts to equip our students with the necessary
knowledge, skills and dispositions to thrive in an interconnected, diverse and rapidly-
changing world, blended learning is a key feature of NCHS experience to complement
teaching and learning in school. Since Term 2’ 2021, Beyond Classroom Day (BCD) has
been introduced to all NCzens as part of our Blended Learning (BL) efforts in NCHS.
BCD comprises of two components, curriculum coverage and student-initiated learning (SIL)
where dedicated time and space are provided for students to pursue their own interests and
learn within and/or beyond the curriculum.

Sec 1 – 3 NCzens will continue their BCD fortnightly on even weeks’ Tuesday (Day 7) in
Term 3. On this day, students do not need to report to school, and they will complete
individual and/or group work tasks designed for them to discover and create new knowledge.

2.4 Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP)

All our Sec 1 to 4 NCzens have been equipped with a Personal Learning Device (PLD). The
PLD are used in tandem with the national e-learning platform – the Singapore Student
Learning Space (SLS) – as well as other educational technology to personalise and enhance
students’ learning. This will also enable NCzens to acquire digital skills and apply these skills
as they navigate an increasingly digitalised world.

Device Management Application (DMA) comes pre-installed on all PLDs purchased through
the school and supports the use of the PLD in the classroom and safeguard students’ cyber
wellness. During school hours, the Default Setting will apply. Parents/Guardians are given a
choice to opt for an Alternative Setting, which will apply only to after school hours.
Parents/Guardians who wish to opt for an Alternative Setting can exercise their DMA after-
school option at https://go.gov.sg/nchs-dma-option. The request will be processed on a
termly basis in the first week of every school term. The following table outlines the different
levels of restrictions, controls and monitoring for the different DMA options after school
hours.

start for 2023. We have allocated about 3 to 4 hours of lessons daily which conducted in various
mode such as face-to-face, LIVE, online or offline. The EBP timetables will be issued to the
classes in Term 4.

Semester 2 is scheduled on 27 October (Thursday) and 28 October, from 8 am to 12 noon
on both days for Sec 1 to 3 levels.

Parents who wish to dialogue with the Form Teachers (FTs) will register for a 15-minute slot

5. Administrative Matters

1.1 School Bill

Parents will receive a School Bill for enrichment programmes organised by the school.
Parents are strongly encouraged to join the GIRO scheme to make payment for MOE and
School Bills. Please refer to the MOE website for more information.
https://www.moe.gov.sg/financial-matters/fees.

For students who are not on GIRO and have outstanding payments, parents are strongly
encouraged to make payment by SingPost Mobile App, SingPost SAM web
(https://www.mysam.sg/) or SingPost SAM kiosks. This will minimise the need for students to
bring large amounts of cash or cheque to school. For any queries on School Bill, parents
may send an email to the school generic mail (nchs@moe.edu.sg) or contact the general
office at 64897971 during office hours

We look forward to another semester of fruitful collaboration with you in providing your
child/ward a holistic education.

Yours sincerely,

Ms Siau Fong Fui
