QUESTION

Part 1

1. Do you use any gadgets daily?

Yes, surely I do... Although I don't consider myself a geek, I quite enjoy using all
the new items like laptops and smartphones... All in all, we're living in the
computer age and it's impossible to ignore cutting-edge technology.

2. How often do you use the Internet?

I use the Internet every day... It helps me with my studies and it entertains me
when I’m stressed...Surfing the Internet is my hobby... I also frequently use the
messenger for communication purposes...
How much time do you spend using a computer at work or home?

-Daily I spend roughly 4 to 6 hours working on the computer, either doing my

home assignments or project work. However, it comes in handy for other extra-
hour activities as well, such as watching YouTube, editing my new videos and
podcasts, and chatting with my friends, which takes up to 2 hours a day.

3. Do you own a computer? If so, how often do you use it, and for what purposes?

Yes, I have a laptop... I use my laptop mainly for education... It is very light and
fits in my bag easily, so I take it with me to school... It is an old, but still well
machine...

1. Are you comfortable using modern technology?

Answer: You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to use technology today. It’s all
about booting up, logging in, and then clicking on the icon that will take you to
your favorite application. On the single occasion that my computer crashed, I
called someone in to re-install the programs otherwise I’m comfortable.

2. Have you ever bought anything online?

-Yes, I frequently buy things online. This is mainly because I don’t have time to
roam brick-and-mortar stores. I appreciate how fast and easy it is to order anything
you can think of online. My last purchase like that was a new set of studio
headphones for my friend’s birthday.

2. How do you keep your computer and data secure?

Answer: I always shut down the computer at night. I back up my files to a hard
drive and I always keep hard copies of important documents. I am very careful
with my privacy settings, especially in wireless hotspots.

3. Do you think that there are any disadvantages to modern technology?

Answer: I think that there are several disadvantages. Security can be a problem
with people hacking into the Internet. Also, modern technology tends to become
rapidly obsolete so we become more and more of a throw-away society. People are
also losing physical contact with one another as they become glued to their
screens.

4. In what ways do you think people will benefit from technologies in the future?

Answer: Emerging technology can change our lives in so many ways. Robots and
artificial intelligence are both reducing the amount of tedious work required in a
wide range of industries and professions. We can now also get expert advice from
across the globe using an internet connection.

5. In your opinion what are the basic computer skills that every person should
have today?

Answer: All the information we require is available on the Internet, so everyone

should be able to boot up a computer, log in and know how to use a search engine.
Everyone should have access to the Internet so that they can surf the web.

What technology or equipment is used in most workplaces nowadays?

Does technology help workers or make their lives more difficult?

What effect does new technology have on employment?

1. Tip: give a list of different technologies, then talk about one in detail:

In most workplaces, people use equipment such as computers, phones, printers, fax
machines, and photocopiers. I think the computer is probably the most essential
piece of equipment because we rely on it for almost everything: communicating by
email, writing reports, organizing data, and finding information on the Internet.
2. Tip: talk about the positives AND the negatives:

Technology helps workers because it makes many tasks so much easier. For
example, email is such a useful tool for communication between employees in
different offices, or even in different countries. On the other hand, technology can
make life more difficult, especially when it goes wrong. It causes a lot of stress
when the Internet is down or a computer crashes.

3. Tip: give the good effects AND the bad effects:

I think technology is often responsible for people losing their jobs. Machines have
replaced people in areas like manufacturing and agriculture, and whenever a new
technology is introduced, there are redundancies. At the same time, jobs might be
created thanks to new technology; for example, there would be no computer
programmers if the computer hadn't been invented.

What is the most impactful piece of technology in our lives?

In my point of view, the Internet is the most important technological advance of

our time... It gives us so many new opportunities to discover anything we want
about our world! You just need to boot up your computer and go online... And
with wireless networks at home and public Wi-Fi hotspots, we can do it easily
and almost everywhere.

How do computers affect our everyday life?

Positively, certainly. They help with so many things, starting from writing and
printing your essay and ending with developing advanced programs and digital
editing... Without computers studying would have been time-consuming and
inefficient...

How effective is the use of computers in the classroom?

Hmm… in my opinion, using computers in the classroom is very effective. I

think it is important for students to become competent in the use of computers
to prepare them for the workplace … you know, computers are used
everywhere in the workplace now. But… I also think that having computers so
easily available allows teachers to introduce students to the variety of
information on the Internet.
Has the Internet made your job/studies easier?
-Indeed, thanks to the Internet, my learning has become quicker and smoother.
For one, I can easily access any necessary literature, or articles without looking
through all the library materials. Second, the Internet tools have made online
collaboration with other students possible.

Do you like working online or in the office?

-I see benefits in both. However, it is truly very convenient to stay in touch with
colleagues anywhere I go. I just need a laptop and an Internet connection. This
flexibility allows me to work everywhere – even at the airport or taxi.
