Brief description:

In DM plant we have a roots blower room housing roots blowers. Recently there was an incident that
involved roots blower B. the equipment was running normally until when discharge air pressure and
temperature raised rapidly.
Unnecessarily there was equipment damage which propositionally causes cost to the company. To curb
such I have come up with a suggestion as detailed below.

Details of suggestion:

Roots blower A and B have a common discharge header and it is installed with a pressure transmitter.
During the incident we observed that the common header pressure increased from normal (60Kpa) to above
90Kpa. I therefore, suggest that we use the pressure transmitter value in PLC logic to generate an alarm
when header pressure builds to 80Kpa. This will enable the operator to take probable action to protect
equipment and probably personnel.
