Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of three family members who
went missing in floods that hit Kampung Iboi in Kupang, Baling on Monday.

Fifty-three-year-old Salmah Mat Akib, and her daughter-in-law, twenty-

three-year-old Nurul Anis Abu Hassan, who was four months pregnant,
were found embracing each other under a pile of logs at nine thirty am
today.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Department, Director Senior Assistant Fire

Commissioner Sayani Saidon said, the bodies were found about 100
meters from their house which was washed away by floods.

The body of Salmah’s son, fourteen-year-old, Khairul Ikhwan Nor Azman,

was recovered at eleven fifty-five am, not far from the location where the
two bodies were found earlier.

Sayani said the bodies were handed over to the police for further action.

Four people were killed in an accident involving seven vehicles on

kilometer two-seven-seven point one, after the North-South Expressway
near Meruraya, Ipoh.

A spokesman of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department said, his

personnel from Meruraya were dispatched to the scene after receiving a
distress call at three pm.

The accidents involved a trailer and six cars.

Four people, a man and three women who were rescued from the
wreckage were pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene.

The victims who were yet to be identified had been taken to Raja
Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortem.

It is learned that the accident made that stretch impossible and caused
traffic to come to a standstill for seven kilometers.

The affected lanes were reopened later, and traffic was back to normal at
five pm.
