Assignment 1: IN CONVERSATION WITH AN INDUSTRY MENTOR

Instructions
1. As a team, present the following:
 your career networking context/scenario with your chosen industry
mentor.
 your reasons for the choice of mentor.
 your purpose and objective during the career networking meeting.
 your list of questions (5 to 8 questions) that were asked at the meeting
and the answers. Refer to the list of sample questions on pages 2 to 3.
 your learning points.

Can you give me a breakdown of your daily life in this job?


Team is given a monthly target.
Support and ensure that my team meets the numbers every month.
Lead the team where we for loans and facilities required by the SMEs (small &
med enterprises)
Consultation & advice, ensuring they are on track throughout
Meets the clients together with the team, teaching them to handle and
communicate with the clients. Attend sales meeting and answer for the
numbers achieved that month

MAS implemented regulations hence must abide. Adapt to changes in the


market, eg. Mas can only finance up to 70% and not 80% anymore, thus,
changes will have to be made quickly.

How would you describe the culture of your workplace?


Intense and stressful,
everyone for themselves, v important to put in individual efforts, even though
we work as a team, numbers represent accomplishment of work,

internship experience would I require. How do I go about obtaining it?


Interns will be posted to different departments eg sales, product management,
alliance team, loan brokers. Learn to approve and mitigate the cases alongside
with employees

Based on your experiences, what do you think is this field's most significant personal
characteristic?
Positive and resilient mindset. Overwhelmed and worn out so what matters is
that you push through and not give up

Lead a team of 12, identify weakest link and strongest, balance the team out,
bring them up and if unable to or if they are unable to, I will have to eliminate
them.
