Give the actions taken by the education manager (school head or division
superintendent).

Last December 16, 2021 Super Typhoon Odette struck Southern Leyte, it made a
lot of damages to infrastructures, houses of the people were totally damaged and
others were washed out including the natural resources where people get their
money from specifically coconut trees.

The problem in our baranggay is that supposed to be the next month after that, is
that schools will hopefully conduct limited face to face classes but due to the result
of that tragedy the classrooms in the schools were also damaged and the remaining
rooms which are not damage became the evacuation areas of the people who lost
their houses due to the typhoon. In other words we really cannot force to have a
limited face to face classes. But as time goes by people who lived in school for the
meantime were slowly reconstructing their houses and eventually moved out in
school. But though there are no more evacuees the rooms in the school were still
not repaired since there is no enough funds for repair and the area is still in chaos
since trees, roofs from the neighborhood are everywhere and it's very dangerous to
start a limited face to face.

What the school head did is that, he asked for help in the community and called for
PTA meetings and teachers agreed to the plans that was being discussed and these
includes; planning for what grade level will have the limited face to face since the
school can't cater all grade levels at the same time due to the lack of classrooms, it
also includes; before they move on to the limited face to face classes they cleaned
the school area first so that it would be safe for everyone who comes to school
and later on after the general cleaning, they had put some signage everywhere in
relation to the safety protocols and teachers were preparing their rooms including
the planning for instruction.

What I have learned is that school head has the power or authority to command
and decide on what to do in times of crisis like this one and I learned how the
community gave their full support to the school as this is where their children go to
for their learning. It is also important that every time we will have plans let us
consider our capabilities especially in terms of budget instead of planning big
without even considering the safety, the budget and even the people involved
around. In addition to that I learned that the school and the community should go
hand in hand in planning and deciding for the betterment of the students, the
community and especially everyone's future.
