Gestational Hypertension

Abstract
Gestational hypertension is a condition in which an abnormal increase in blood pressure
was experience by pregnant women. This condition is somehow similar with the other
conditions like chronic hypertension, eclampsia, and preeclampsia. The difference of
this is that gestational hypertension happens even to those women who has no history
of hypertension. Even though that this condition goes away after pregnancy gestational
hypertension if not treated earlier, could lead to more severe problems like eclampsia
and preeclampsia. This condition happens to affect 3 out of 50 pregnant women.
Because that this condition has a similarity with other condition it is necessary that
pregnant women should do check up earlier when symptoms was experienced. They
should also seek guidance on how to lessen the effect on the baby and do fetal
monitoring regularly.
Clinical Analysis
Gestational hypertension is a condition which an abnormal increase of blood pressure
happens during pregnancy. According to Cedars Sinai, gestational hypertension is
different from chronic hypertension, from preeclampsia and eclampsia which are
another different type of blood pressure problem in pregnancy. Gestational hypertension
usually occurs even on pregnant women who doesn’t have medical history of
hypertension not just like the chronic hypertension that occurs only to those who have a
history of high blood. Further on, this pregnancy problem usually happens to occur
during the second half of pregnancy. But the good news about this condition according
to Cedars Sinai is that it normally goes away after the baby was born. but for the
medical experts, looking at what causes this condition is big question. But their such
things that could increase the risk of having this gestational hypertension. According
again to Cedars Sinai, people who has the history of high blood pressure, having kidney
disease, diabetes, those women who are below 20 years old or older than 0 years old
would likely to experience this type of pregnancy condition. The risk of it is that this
condition happens in about 3 out of 50 pregnant women. But it is alarming if this
condition is untreated early on. Due to high blood pressure it would affect the blood flow
to some organs of the body like the kidney, brain, uterus, and placenta. This condition
could be worst if not prevented. According to Cedar Sinai, gestational hypertension
could lead to serious problem like preeclampsia and eclampsia. These conditions as we
know could lead to a severe condition or even in fatal one. That would lead your doctor
to suggest an early delivery of the baby.
Recommendation
Because that this condition has a similarity with other pregnancy problems, it is
important that medical doctors and nurses should require their patient to undergo
clinical screening when symptoms occurs. According to Cedar Sinai, the symptoms that
pregnant women would likely to experience are severe headache, edema, sudden
weight gain, vision problems such as blurred or double vision, nausea or vomiting, pain
in the upper side of the belly, or pin around the stomach, and making small amount of
urine. That is why when patients are experiencing these problems, I recommend that
they should seek medical check-ups and screenings. I recommend that mothers should
also undergo fetal monitoring to check on the baby’s conditions if there are such
problems with them affected by the condition.
