LESSON NO.#1: NAIL CARE TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT


TOOLS

1. This is a hand tool made of metal used to trim fingernails and toenails. [Nail Cutter]
2. It is used for trimming the cuticles. [Cuticle nipper]
3. This is a small clean soft-bristled brush that is used to remove any dirt or build up below or around the
nails. [ Nail brush]
4. This implement is used for smoothening and polishing the nails. [Nail buffer]
5. This is used to remove dry and callous skin from your feet. [Pumice stone]
6. This is used to push back and loosen cuticles. [Nail Pusher]
7. This is a small-open top, rounded cup like container used for mixing the aromatic oils and other fluids for
the hand or foot spa. [Mixing bowl]
8. This is a large rectangular container used for bathing and soaking the feet when giving a pedicure . [Foot
spa basin]
9. It is used to remove dead skin and calluses. [Foot file]
10. It used to remove excess nail polish on the nails. [Orangewood stick]
11. This is made of metal or sandpaper, with a rough file on one side to remove calluses and a fine file on

LESSON NO.#2: MAINTENANCE OF TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

1. It is the process of making an object germ-free by the destruction of all kinds of bacteria. [Sterilization]
2. The most effective sanitizing agents that may be used in beauty salons for destroying or checking
bacteria. [Disinfectant]
3. Methods of Sanitizing; a.) Heat (boiling method, hot air, steam) b.) Chemicals
4. An act or process of preserving a tool or equipment. [Maintenance]
5. Sanitation to reduce or eliminate pathogenic agents such as bacteria on the surface of the tools and
equipment.
6. Sterilization to free from all viable microorganisms as by the use of steam or dry heat.
7. Disinfectant is the effective sanitizing agents that may be used in beauty salons for destroying or
checking bacteria
8. Cleanliness must be observe all the time inside the beauty salon to avoid the spread out of germs and
bacteria’s.
9. Sterilization is the process of making an object germ-free by the destruction of all kinds of bacteria.

LESSON NO.#3: OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY PROCEDURES (OHSP)

1. It is a cross-disciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health, and welfare of people
engaged in work or employment. [ Occupational Safety and Health (OSH)]
2. It means anything that has the potential to harm the health or safety of a person. [Hazard]
3. A clothing equipment designed to be worn by a manicurist or salon workers to protect them from risks
of injury or illness. [Personal Protective Equipment]

Take Note: There will be some questions in the exam that are based on situational basis. It is up to you on how you
are going to interpret the situations.
