Preeclampsia

Abstract
Preeclampsia is condition to pregnant women that has a serious and even fatal effect to
women. For about 4.6% of pregnant women are having this all over the world.
Preeclampsia occurs usually on the 20th week of pregnancy. Women having
preeclampsia would likely to experience high blood pressure and other body
complications. In women having this condition, most of it happens to teenage pregnant
women. If not treated or monitored well, it could lead to severe complications and even
death to both the mother and the child.
Clinical Analysis
Preeclampsia is a condition on women’s pregnancy. This is the condition in which
patients experience severe high blood pressure, high protein in urine that indicate
kidney damage (proteinuria), or other signs of organ damage (Mayo Clinic).
Preeclampsia usually occur on the 20 th week of pregnancy in women who has a
standard range of blood pressure. Left untreated preeclampsia can lead to serious or
even fatal complications to the mother and child. Often times, early delivery is
recommended to lessen the threat of the complication. But, timing is very important in
this situation where early delivery depends on how severe is the preeclampsia. This
condition may develop after delivery of a baby to which known as postpartum
preeclampsia. Pregnant women who has preeclampsia would experience severe
headaches, difficulty in vision, decreased level of platelets, etc. According to JAMA
Network, an estimated 4.6% of pregnancy world wide is affected with preeclampsia.
Preeclampsia is likely cause of some factors. Experts believes that in begins in
placenta, an organ that supports the baby in terms of delivering supply of oxygen and
nutrients to the placenta. However, in women having preeclampsia, these blood vessels
don’t seem to develop or work properly. This problems in which there is abnormality on
the circulation of the blood in the placenta could lead to mothers to have irregular
regulation of high blood pressure (Mayo Clinic).

Recommendation
Most common cases of preeclampsia on women are on those who have obesity
problem. One thing more is that according to some studies, preeclampsia is very often
to pregnant teenagers. What I recommend is that we should monitor these cases of
pregnant women and give clinical studies to monitor their health. Ask patients to
undergo regular check ups to monitor their condition or to assess them to help figuring
out if they have preeclampsia so that medical practitioners could figure out how to deal
with it.
