1. The term Network is any interconnected group of people or things capable of sharing
meaningful information with one another.
2. Computer network are used in a huge variety of ways and can include many different types of
network.
3. LAN(Local Area Network) is a group of computers that is connected to each other in a
small area such as building or office.

4. A Metropolitan Area Network covers a larger geographic area. It is composed of a

different LAN to form a larger network.
5. Wide Area Network is not limited to a single location, but it spans over a large
geographical area through a telephone line, fibre optic cable or satellite links.
6. PAN is used for connecting the computer devices for personal use
7. _____________ refers to the preparation of the implementation of a computer network
structure.
8. _________________ This is the most known network design and is usually the simplest for
businesses.
9. WAN (Wide Area Network) It could be a connection of LAN to other LAN through telephone
lines and radio waves and may be restricted to an organization or accessible to the public.
10. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) covers a larger range than that of a LAN and smaller
range as compared to WAN.
11. storage area network (SAN) is a computer network which delivers access to combined,
block-level data storage.
12. network operating system (NOS) is a type of operating system designed primarily to perform
the function of supporting workstations, personal computers and older terminals connected on
local area network also known as LAN
13. Peer-to-peer network operating systems allow the users to share networks in a common
network location.
14. Client/server network operating systems gives the users access to resources that are saved
through a server

15. Access management (AM) - the process of identifying, tracking, controlling

and managing authorized or specified users' access to a system, application or any IT
instance
16. User - a person who uses or operates something, especially a computer or other machine
17. Interface - an arrangement of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines
18. Network - a point where two systems, subjects, organizations, etc. meet and interact
19. Content Access - the ability, right, or permission to approach, enter, speak with, or use;
admittance
20. Admin - responsible for all work activities concerning communication and IT
21. Edit - a change or correction made as a result of editing
22. Restrictions - a limiting condition or measure, especially a legal on
23. Configure- look at or inspect
24. View - system refers to the arrangement of each of its functional units, according to their
nature, number and chief characteristics
25. View_ – the user can see the existing folder and the inside of it.
26. Manage Access, Edit – it lets the user do everything that the view access level does, and
make changes to the folder such as:
27. Network Cable (or Network Media) is the actual path over which an electrical signal
travels as it moves from one component to another.
28. These _Cable are used to transfer and connect information or data between two or more
computers, routers, switches, and storage area networks.
29. _Twisted-pair Cable – is a type of cabling that is used for telephone communications
and most modern Ethernet networks
30. _Unshielded Twisted Pair – or simply UTP, is a medium that is composed of pairs of
wires. UTP cable is used in a variety of networks.
31. _Shielded Twisted Pair – it is a cable with the combination techniques of shielding,
cancellation, and wire-twisting.
32. _Coaxial Cable – it is a cable used in the transmission of video, communications, and
audio.
33. _Plenum Cable_ – is the cable that runs in plenum spaces in building.
34. Fiber Optic Cable_– is a cable that contains optical fibers (usually glass) coated in
plastic that are used to send data by pulses of light.
35. _Single-mode Fiber Cable – allows only one mode (or wavelength) of light to propagate
through the fiber. It is capable of higher bandwidth and greater distances than multimode,
and it is often used for campus backbones.
36. _Multi-mode Fiber Cable – allows multiple modes of light to propagate through the
fiber. It is often used for workgroup applications and intrabuilding applications such as
risers.
37. _Wireless Communication – it uses radio frequencies (RF) or infrared (IR) waves to
transmit data between devices on a LAN.
38. _Crimping tool – is a device used to conjoin two (2) pieces of metal by deforming one
or both of them in a way that causes them to hold each other.
39. _Wire stripper – is a tool designed to remove the protective covering (jacket) off a
cable to expose the inner wires.
40. RJ45 is an 8-pin connection used for Ethernet network adapters.
41. Network cable tester_ – is a device used to test the strength and connectivity of a
particular type of other wired assemblies.
42. UTP cable_ – short for unshielded twisted pair cable. It is the most popular type of
network cable which consists of two (2) unshielded wires twisted around each other.
43. _____________________. It is a type of configuration that enables users to connect
similar devices such as desktop to another desktop
44. _____________________ It is a type of configuration that enable users to connect two
dissimilar devices such as desktop to switch.
45. A straight-through cable has an ____________end.
