SO SÁNH

I. SO SÁNH BẰNG (Positive form): thêm chữ as trước và sau tính từ cần so sánh

S + V + as + adj/ adv + as + noun/ pronoun/ clause

Ex: My hands were as cold as ice.

Jane sings as well as her sister.
Is the film as interesting as you expected?
II. SO SÁNH HƠN (Compartive form):
a. Tính từ ngắn (short adjectives): là tính từ có 1 âm tiết
Ex: big, fast quiet, tall, small, large, bright,…………………=> so sánh hơn: thêm –er vào: bigger,
faster, taller, smaller, larger, brighter,…………………
Các tính từ có 2 âm tiết, nhưng lại tận cùng bằng –er, -ow, -y, -le cũng được coi là tính từ ngắn:
happy, healthy, simple, clever, narrow,……………. => so sánh hơn: thêm –er vào: happier, healthier,
simpler, cleverer, narrower,……………
b. Tính từ dài (long adjectives): là tính từ có từ 2 âm tiết trở lên (trừ các tính từ ận cùng bằng –er, -ow, -y, -
le)
Ex: useful, boring, tired, beautiful, interesting, handsome,………………… => so sánh hơn: thêm more
vào trước tính từ dài đó: more useful, more boring, more tired, more beautiful, more interesting,
more handsome,…………………….
Công thức So sánh hơn:

S + V + tính từ ngắn (them –er vào) + than + noun/ pronoun/ clause

tính từ dài (them more vào phía trước)

Ex: The giraffe is taller than the man.

The exam was more difficult than we expected.
Jane speaks Spanish more fluently than Martin.
III. SO SÁNH NHẤT (Superlative form):
- So sánh nhất của tính từ ngắn: thêm –est vào sau tính từ ngắn đó
Ex: hot, cheap, clever, early, narrow => hottest, cheapest, cleverest, earliest,
narrowest
- So sánh nhất của tính từ ngắn: thêm most vào trước tính từ dài đó
Ex: expensive, boring, famous, fortunately,………….. => most expensive, most boring,
most famous, most fortunately
Công thức So sánh nhất:

S + V + the + tính từ ngắn (thêm –est vào) + noun

tính từ dài (thêm most vào phía trước)

Ex: I’m the happiest man in the world.

Love is the most important thing.
He worked the hardest of three workers.
Jane speaks Spanish the most fluently in her class.
