POST-ACTIVITY REPORT
At about 07 o’clock in the morning the training was started by opening prayer and followed
by singing the Philippine national anthem. Lucena City Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Office (LCDRRMO) head Janet V. Gendrano welcomed the participants in
behalf of Mayor Roderick Alcala to the Water Search and Rescue (WaSAR) training and
give her inspirational message and encourage them to give their best during this training
and be able to response during emergency call. CG LTJG Von Gerard B Velez,
Commander, Coast Guard Station Southern Quezon also give his message and he said
“In the training, they will be more aware on how to find hazards, and at the same time
learn the mechanisms on personal safety and survival, and basic lifesaving”. The training
ran from March 28-April 1, 2022.

Emerson Costa, CG PO1 Antonio Papa Jr, CG PO2 Mark Anthony Sumanoy, CG SN2
Johnriel Neil Nueva, CG SW2 Rossan Fajardo, CG SN2 Arvin Solante, CG Sn2 Billy Mark
Estacion, CG ASN Ajanad Mansur, CG ASN Rusdie Sahikal, CG ASN Ricardo Baquilla,
CG ASN Zedrick Alimpulo, CG PO2 Cristina V Galanto, CG ASW Al-Shufrina B
Jamaluddin and CG ASN Jocheymar B Rosales from the Philippine Coast Guard.
The training course that were discussed are as follows: Basic Life Support (BLS), Water
Safety, Survival and Rescue Techniques, Rubber Boat and Outboard Motor Operations,
Water Entries and Swimming Strokes, Knot Tying, Lifesaving Techniques, Physical
Development Training and One (1) Mile Qualification Swim.
The participants were able to: Demonstrate and performed the different water entries
being used during lifesaving; Identified the different swimming strokes that the necessary
in the conduct of water rescue; Demonstrate the different methods of rescue and survival
techniques; and Performed the different knots being used during rescue in swift water
and in times of calamities.

The water search and rescue training is one of the priority programs under the Disaster
Risk Reduction and Management as stipulated in the Republic Act 10121 is equally
important to lessen the threats on rescuers when rescuing victims or people during
incidents.
