Course Outcomes: Through this course students should be able to

CO1 :: evaluate self & explore current career opportunities and their implication on professional
career plans

CO2 :: demonstrate a clearer understanding of the career exploration process

CO3 :: develop strategies and approaches to set career vision, goals and action plans

CO4 :: apply knowledge of industry & career trends to develop career development plan

Unit I
Overview of management discipline : contemporary issues in management, emerging careers in
management
Brief overview of the program's structure : program description, duration, contact hours,
educational outcomes, program objectives, program specific outcome, course objectives, avenues
after completion of program
Unit II
Identification and selection of profiles : goal sheet, identification and selection of job profile
linked to goal sheet, skill sets and self-personality assessment
Unit III
Marketplace realities: mapping individual skillset with market needs : career objective
statement, exploring various career pathways, identifying skill sets desired for the preferred profile,
competency mapping with a defined skill set
Career goal establishment : SWOT analysis, identification of skill gaps

Certifications and competitions : awareness about various MOOC platforms like NPTEL, V-Skills,
Coursera, participation plan for certifications and competitions
Unit IV
Target fixation and plan for the attainment of the required skill set : target fixation based on
self assessment, creation of Gant chart
Net weaving and networking : skill set: connector, law of reciprocity, network, exploring various
social media sites like Linkedin, Twitter
Unit V
Specialization specific input : Industry trends, various career options in various specializations,
skillset required and various avenues to acquire the same
Unit VI
Enhance data analysis skills : statistical skill enhancing softwares, data visualization, patterns and
trends in data
Getting creative: first impression : writing resume, writing an impressive cover letter
