ANNOTATION for OBJECTIVE 2

The teacher has engaged the learners in” Independent Learning” is often
linked with other approaches to learning such as ‘personalization’, ‘student-centered
learning’ and ‘ownership’ of learning. These activities can be effective to motivate
learners, encourage active learning, and develop key critical thinking,
communication, and decision-making skills. Individual work helps students to
develop the capacity to learn without always leaning on others. This can hopefully
lead to some sense of learner autonomy, which is a critical goal of many teachers.
As learners rely on their own resources it strengthens them in learning to learn on
their own.
The teacher used visual figure to aid comprehension for learners. Learners
understand information better in the classroom when they see it. Visual information
is presented through images and slide shows PowerPoint decks. Visual learning is
defined as the assimilation of information from visual formats. Our brain is an image
processor, not a word processor. Moreover, if our learners have been raised in this
media-centered society, the pedagogical use of visual aids to engage them is a
must.
ANNOTATION for OBJECTIVE 16
Educational essentialism is an educational philosophy whose adherents
believe that children should learn the traditional basic subjects thoroughly. In this
philosophical school of thought, the aim is to instill students with the "essentials" of
academic knowledge, enacting a back-to-basics approach.
Essentialism provides students with strong basic education such as reading
writing, listening, speaking, drawing, etc. it has largely contributed to the education
field, enabling students to develop a sound foundation of basic knowledge.
In this lesson plan, I applied a learner – centered philosophy which is
essentialism. In this lesson, I explained my lesson through a series of appropriate
learning activities for each part of my lesson plan.
For me as an essentialist teacher, I could help my learners to develop their
independent living skills.
