[TUTO] Butterfly potentiometer (setting) (#p46435)

Hello everyone,

A tutorial that will help you when replacing your potentiometer to make the adjustment:

First of all, what you will need,

Start by disconnecting the battery to create "reset" of the electronic unit; minimum 10 minutes
unplugged.
Then disconnect the intake pressure sensor plug
Take the electronic unit from its housing and disconnect the plug,
Remove the potentiometer from the throttle body
Clean the surface to allow the new perfect rotation
Place the new potentiometer (halfway of the rotation approximately to begin) by approaching the
screws without tightening them fully so as to allow it to rotate
Connect the three wires to terminals 9, 16 and 17 of the socket on the electronic unit (attention
ERROR on the image, wires 9, 17 and 18 are connected; too quick to take a photo ....!) And
arrange them ends of the wires so that they do not touch each other.
PHASE 1: Take the first "no load" reading between terminals 9 and 16: here 7.61 Kohms or 7610
ohms
PHASE 2: Tighten the potentiometer screws so that it does not move
Then accelerate fully via the cable d accelerator for the second "full stop" reading between
terminals 9 and 16: here 3.24 Kohms or 3240 ohms
PHASE 3: Take the third "no load " reading between terminals 9 and 17: here 3.22 Kohms or 3220
ohms
PHASE 4: Then accelerate fully via the accelerator cable for the fourth reading "foot to bottom"
between terminals 9 and 17: here 7.61 Kohms or 7610 ohms
When you are going to adjust the potentiometer, it is necessary to find a balance between phases 1
and 4 and phases 2 and 3 (10% of margin is tolerated by the computer). To carry out the
adjustment, you will take phases 1 and 4.

Example 1: you find the following measurements,

PHASE 1: 7900 ohms
PHASE 4: 7350 ohms
The difference between Phase 1 and 4 is (7900 - 7350) = 550 ohms
550/2 = 275 ohms
7900 - 275 = 7625 ohms
You will then turn the potentiometer so as to find 7625 ohms between terminals 9 and 16 "unladen"
and then tighten the potentiometer using the screws.
To check your setting, you must find 7625 ohms (+/- 10%) between terminals 9 and 17 "bottom
down".

Example 2: you find the following measurements,

PHASE 1: 7800 ohms
PHASE 4: 7600 ohms
The difference between Phase 1 and 4 is (7800 - 7600) = 200 ohms
200/2 = 100 ohms
7800 - 100 = 7700 ohms
You then turn the potentiometer so as to find 7700 ohms between terminals 9 and 16 "no load" and
then tighten the potentiometer using the screws.
To check your setting, you must find 7700 ohms (+/- 10%) between terminals 9 and 17 "

Your setting is done, you just have to go back up everything by reconnecting the battery before the
"key stroke"!
The integration by the computer of the new potentiometer takes less than five minutes by carrying
out gradual accelerations so as to make it discover the range of variation.

You find a satble idle at around 900-1000 rpm.

All that remains is the road test (I kissed my beautiful on the left headlight on returning from this
test for the breaker in 2nd; not easy to hold the iphone on video during a test driving a little
supported. ..).

Do not hesitate to "MP" if you encounter a difficulty during the adjustment.

Pour ma part j'ai remonté le potard exactement au meme endroit qu'avant (merci les traces de
crasses), ben tout fonctionne a merveille, pas de coupure d'injections, pas de trous......... bref on
va dire que j'ai du bol!

Le même oui pas de soucis, ...., vive la tine en langage Normand!

Chaque potar est différent et tous doivent trouver leur place sur notre F7.
Notre calculateur est intelligent, pas besoin de le changer pour un potar, suffit de lui apprendre les
nouvelles règles ...!
Ça se passe comme ça chez 19inside !

... je viens d'appliquer le tuto...

Petite précision, tu as oublié de dire qu'il fallait laissé la batterie débranché... pendant un laps de

temps j'ai cru qu'il fallait la rebrancher

Ce qui m’étonne, c'est que sur mon potentiomètre réglé a l'oreille les valeurs étaient bonnes...
Il faut que je confirme avec une séance de roulage pour voir si le ralentit est toujours aussi
instable et si elle a toujours ses problèmes d'acoups à bas régime

en tout merci encore pour ce tuto on ne plus clair, ca déblaye le terrain

Pour ce qui est de ton réglage à l'oreille pile poil sur les valeurs inversées, chapeau bas, car a l'aide
du multimètre le réglage se fait au millimètre sur la rotation du potar !
Concernant les accoups a bas régime, si cela provient de ton potar son réglage n'y fera rien, il te
faut le changer (une piste doit être usée ou coupée à l'intérieur!) Accoups ou ratés ? En accélérant
progressivement sur place sa ronronne bien?
Je pense que tu as du profiter de ton calculateur ouvert pour vérifier la valeur de tes sondes
moteur ( eau, pression admission, ....).
Plus et merci pour les compliments qui font toujours plaiz.

Je pense que mon réglage est surtout lié a la chance

Tu as probablement raison, la piste est peut etre coupée. Je vais profité de ma journée de congé
pour faire un essai.

Pour les valeurs, euh non, je regarderai cela quand j'aurai mon cable odb...Qui plus est je n'y
connais pas forcement grand chose en injection siemens ...

Il va nous falloir un autre tuto comme celui ci !
