================================== June Scripture Meditation ==================================

After He said this, He showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you. And with that He breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit. John 20:20-22 (NIV)

Camp Wawona Updates

There have been a lot of upgrades to the camp recently. Yurt cabins are going up! There have been many volunteers whove helped in this endeavor, and we are thankful to all of them. There is also donated funds for the bath-house, and well begin construction shortly. As soon as the bath-house is completed, the yurt cabins can be used for male summer staff This will be such a blessing, as it will give them more space. More great news! We are completely redoing the Camp Fire Bowl, hopefully before summer camp begins. The new Bowl is being funded by a special gift from a family in memory of their parents, who were longtime workers here in our conference. The Bowl will have all-new seating, a more gradual incline, a new stage and new sound buildings. This will benet not only our campers but also church groups, family groups, and retreats. Also, our current enrollment for the summer is over 400, the highest its been in 6 years. God continues to bless abundantly at Camp Wawona. We always need volunteers! If you would like to help with any of the above upgrades, please contact the camp directly. We would love to have you. Thanks!

Thank you to Francisco Bejar
For many years our brother Francisco Bejar has led the Spanish Sabbath School Class in the library. Every week, no matter what, Francisco was there. But now he has decided its time to retire from teaching a class, and to be able to relax and listen to one. So there is no longer a Spanish-speaking class at Sunnyvale church. Francisco, we thank you for your years of service to Sunnyvale Church, for your tireless dedication to the truth and beauty of Gods Word, and for your huge heart to share His love. Enjoy your free time!

Artwork in the Church Lobby

"The paintings in the foyer are provided by Gregory Deane, of Gregory Deane Studios of Palo Alto. These paintings are on loan to us, as we make a decision on the Myrna Baldwin Memorial art. They may change from week to week to give the church family an idea of the different paintings from which we might select our nal piece(s). All constructive comments should be addressed to Debbie Seguin or anyone else on the Vision and Planning Committee." ================================== Prayer Requests ==================================

Weve had several requests for prayer in the last few weeks. Many are suffering from severe health challenges. Please see below and add these dear folks to your list. David and Lynda Hooper - David and Lynda continually need our prayers as they navigate the maze of medical insurance and donor lists. David and Lynda are deeply loved members of this church. Please lift them up to our Father for strength for both of them, for wisdom for the doctors, and for a donor liver for him. Lila Douthet, longtime member of Sunnyvale church, passed away this last Monday. Her obituary is below. Please keep her daughter Carol and the family in your prayers. Helen Nichols recently spent some time in the hospital, suffering from an attack of diverticulitis. She is now trying to recover from that and at the same time, nd work. Please keep her in your prayers. Ed and Sherrill Saloms daughter and son-in-law were recently rear-ended while traveling home from the park with their 4 children. None of the kids were hurt but Shalah and her husband Glen both suffered severe whiplashes and their Passport was totaled. They need prayer for patience and wisdom as they try to work with the insurance companies on this and to get appropriate nancial reimbursement to replace their car. Then two days ago, Sherrills 8-year old nephew Rhiley fell from a slide while playing and broke both the tibia and bula of his left arm where they connect to the wrist. The bones were completely snapped and required surgery and 3 pins to hold them in place. Our prayer is for complete healing of Rhileys arm with no complications and a full restoral of use for him. If you would like to contact anyone on the prayer list, please contact one of the pastors.

Asleep in Jesus...

==================================
On Monday, June 20, deeply-loved longtime Sunnyvale member Lilah (DeLilah) Douthit went to sleep in Jesus at Skyline Healthcare Center in San Jose, CA. Her daughter Carol Gillespie was at her side as she took her nal breath. Lilah ws born on July 20, 1917 in Putnam, Oklahoma. She moved here from Arkansas about 19 years ago after the death of her husband, Paul Douthit, moved in with her daughter Carol, and started attending Sunnyvale church. Carol and Lilah shared household duties and raising the grandchildren, who became very close to their grandma. When Lilah was no longer able to care for herself, Carol had to place her in Skyline Healthcare Center, as she was unable to care for her mom. However, she visited her mom almost every day and would always share day-to-day stories and church happenings. The day before Lilah passed away, Carol put her mom in a wheelchair and out to the back yard of the nursing home, into the sunshine and fresh air and lovely owers and trees in the back, to help her get back in touch with nature and to have a wonderful memory before her passing. The sun was warm, the breeze was cool, and it was a perfect day to remember that God is in everything, and that He loves us. Lilah was unable to hold up her head but Carol lifted her up

and pointed out the birds, lovely owers, and other natural beauty to give her mom a sweet memory. The next day, as Carol was beside Lilahs bed talking with her about their life together and thanking her for being such a wonderful mom, she saw tears welling up in Lilahs eyes as she struggled to speak. In tears herself, Carol patted her moms hand and said, Mom, I know youre frustrated that you cant speak but dont worry, because my heart hears your heart. Shortly after that, Lilah breathed her last as Carol sang and prayed over her. Lilah will be deeply missed by those who love her the most: Her daughter Carol Gillespie, granddaughter Juli Gillespie and great-grandchildren Nolan and Ryan; Carols daughter-in-law Wendy Gillespie, wife of son Brad, (who passed away from cancer in 05),and their children Brad Jr, Brittney, and Brooke Gillespie. Carol will be cremated and buried in Arkansas next to her beloved Paul. Its so hard to say goodbye to someone so deeply loved, but the family knows that the chains that bound Lilah are gone, and she will sleep in Jesus until He comes again to take us to heaven. Thank you for keeping them in your prayers. There will be a memorial service in the near future here at Sunnyvale church. The details are still pending but it will hopefully be in the next month. If you would like to send condolences to Carol or the family, please contact the church ofce for her contact information.
