Success in sewing calls for the right tools.

All tools must be appropriate and one must know the


function of each and know how to use them to produce he best result. A complete set of sewing
tools are presented to help the students to complete the task faster

Information Sheet no. 1 MEASURING TOOLS


All measuring tools can be made of wood, metal and fiber glass.
Tape Measure- a flexible measuring device
in taking body measurements. It has two sides
of which one has 150 centimeters and the
other side 60n inches.

Sewing Gauge – A ruler with a sliding guide and is about 6 inches


long. It is used in measuring hemlines, buttonholes, and tucks

Rulers- It measures 12 inches or even 18 inches.

It is used for measuring and drawing straight seamlines


and cutting lines. It also aids in connecting lines
and for marking buttonholes.

Yardstick -it is used for marking hemlines and


when laying out the pattern in checking grainliones.

L-square - it is also called tailor square and


is used for transferring measurements to
the draft pattern. It has a perfect square and very
useful in making straight lines and function
as a tape measure. It has two rms connected
perpendicularly. The longer arms is twenty
four (24) inches long and the shorter arm is
fourteen (14) inches long.

French curve- used to shape the depth of the neck hole


of the pattern
