1. Relate the management skills to the school governance and operations.


-Governance in an organization (or a domain within it) is the process of setting objectives and making
and evolving decisions that guide people towards achieving those objectives. Operations is doing the
work and organizing day-to-day activities within the constraints defined through governance.

-The list indicates the five main management functions of school heads: planning, organizing,
directing, monitoring and supervision and evaluating all aspects of school life. Although they occur
in sequence, in fact each function is a continuous process.

These are the types of management skills:


 Planning/Setting Goals.
 Organizing.
 Directing.
 Controlling.
 Motivation.
 Training and Coaching.
 Involvement/Teamwork.
 Time Management.

The objective of this two (management skills) and (governance and operation) is almost the same.
Governance and Operations ensures the capacity of the organization to continuously improve and be
strategic in managing the environment for which “teaching and learning” takes place. Management skills
can be defined as certain attributes or abilities that an executive should possess to fulfill specific tasks in an
organization to have a successful governance you must have a good skill in management which are said
earlier.

In Deped;

Governance and Operations ensures the capacity of the organization to continuously improve and be
strategic in managing the environment for which “teaching and learning” takes place.

In accordance with Republic Act (RA) 9155, the Secretary of Education delegates the supervision of
field offices (regional and schools division offices) to the Undersecretary supervising the Governance and
Operations strand.

The Office of the Regional Director provides leadership and management of the Department’s mandate
at the regional level while the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent provides local management and
administration of the Department’s mandate at the schools division level.

In school-based management:
A network of leadership that provides the vision and direction to the education system making it relevant
and responsive to the contexts of diverse communities. Leadership and Governance provides a Development
Plan developed collaboratively by the stakeholders of the school and community.

2. Explain the roles of school heads as instructional supervisors of the curriculum.


Review all required resources and ensure their provision for application of new curricula. Implementation of
new curricula. Monitoring implementation of new curricula. Take feedback from the students and faculty
members during and after implementation of new curricula.

Instructional supervision is based on school-based supervision from relevant staff (principals,


administrators, teachers, and inspectors) in schools to provide supervision, support, and continuity assessment
for teachers' professional development and improvement of the teaching process

The supervisory function of school heads entails a continuous method of helping in instructors to enhance
their educational performance according to the professional code setup by means of the educational sector.

Instructional leadership is a model of school leadership in which a principal works alongside teachers
to provide support and guidance in establishing best practices in teaching. Principals employing this model of
leadership communicate with their staff and together set clear goals related to student achievement.
