Chapter One [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter One (Unedited)

- Kindly put your playlist here-

"My heart might be bruised, but it will recover and become capable of seeing beauty of life once more.
It's happened before, it will happen again, I'm sure. When someone leaves, it's because someone else is
about to arrive--I'll find love again." – Paulo Coelho, The Zahir

Xander's POV

***L.A. California***

"Mr. Hayes is here to see you sir." My executive secretary said over the intercom. "Can you see him for a
few moments now? He said it's very important."

The mention of the name made my nerves tensed immediately. Mr. Hayes was the private investigator I
hired a year ago to find my missing fiancée. Mia Stewart.

"Mr. Valiente?"

I looked at my Rolex watch. I hesitated. I have an important deal to close in fifteen minutes. "Okay, show
him in."

I was not really interested in finding fiancée anymore. I gave up looking for her a few months ago.

I did everything to find Mia. Hired a private investigator. Traveled in all countries she'd been in the past
years. Asked her family and friends about her whereabouts. But they just said the same thing. They didn't
know where she was or who she was with.

That's bullshit! I knew her family would die of worry if they never knew where she was, especially his
brother, Tristan Latsis.
But realization suddenly hit me. It's hard to find someone who doesn't want to be found. And that made
me stopped.

The office door opened and my secretary came in together with Mr. Hayes.

"Good morning, Mr. Valiente."

I stood up and shook Mr. Haye's extended hand then invited him to a seat in front of my table.

"I have good news for you."

My heart suddenly stopped beating.

"I found your fiancée." Mr. Hayes continued.

It was the news I expected. Hearing him said it still brought a cold tension in my body.

"Are you sure?"

Mr. Hayes smiled and pushed a brown envelope towards me. "Positive. See for yourself."

I opened the envelope and saw a picture of a sexy hot woman in gold bikini. She has long golden blond
hair parted in the middle and its waves flowing over her shoulders. She was posing seductively on a white
sand beach.

The woman looked like Mia. But...

I studied her tanned legs and arms, her skimpy bikini, then focused my eyes to her breasts. "No. This is
not Mia." I put down the picture on the table, feeling disgusted.

"She is Mia Stewart. She disguises herself as Lily Rojas. A smokin' hot Latina bikini model."

I laughed to cover my annoyance. "Mia is very conservative, like a saint. She never wears skimpy bikinis.
That girl is good as naked!"

"That's what you think." Mr. Hayes got another envelope from his attaché case. "I have recent photos of
her. This will convince you that Lily Rojas and Mia Stewart are the same."

I took the envelope and opened it.

There were two pictures. The first pic, the same blond woman was laughing - like she just heard a joke
from the man sitting beside her.

I sat forward and looked at the picture intently.

I studied the shape of her face. Her eyes, nose and lips. Her hair was pulled up in a bun.

I frowned and clenched my teeth. She looks exactly like Mia here.

I blinked my eyes several times and every time I opened my eyes, I was more and more convinced that
she was Mia.

I started sweating and became uneasy. My hands trembled as I turned to the second picture. The woman
and the man were kissing, lip locked. Her hand was touching his jaw. F*ckingsh*t!

I was paralyzed on my seat. I knew that hand so well. The small wrist and slender fingers... that I used to
kiss and laced my fingers with.

Dammit. There's no doubt, she's Mia!

I slammed a hand on my desk, then stood up abruptly. I was breathless with rage.

"Where is she?" I ran my hand through my hair, then sat down on my chair again. I clenched and
unclenched my hands several times, preventing myself from smashing anything within reach.

"In Colombia." Mr. Hayes leaned back on the chair, looking satisfied. "Are you going to see her?"

Should I see her?

She left me without explanation. Not even a note, a text or an email. She was gone and hiding away from
me.

I didn't know what went wrong in our relationship. Why she left me all of a sudden. Why did she do this
when I gave her all my love and attention? Why she was determined to keep her whereabouts from me?

Too many questions playing in my head. Where did I go wrong?

I need an explanation and she has to give me a very good one or else...

My attention went back to Mr. Hayes again.

"Yes." I answered then picked the picture I tossed on my table of Mia kissing another man. How could
she kiss another man!

I felt betrayed. Jealousy. Deceived.

My eyes transferred on her ring finger. Damn it! That was not the engagement ring I gave to her. I was
immediately clouded with anger. My thoughts were racing dangerously.

"Who the hell is this man?" I asked Mr. Hayes.

"That's Dylan Cooper. A famous telenovela actor in Colombia. He is Miss Stewart's latest... fiancée."

Fiancée?

I was stunned and my thoughts were running wild.

Dammit! You have a lot of explaining to do Mia Stewart.

Lily Rojas

***Cartagena, Colombia***

"Chest in Lily... good... your eyes... give me a seductive look... more... more... that's perfect!" Tim, the
photographer said. I did what he told me to do and gave him my best seductive pose which I mastered
already. For almost a year, I've been doing this for a living. Modeling swimwear, beachwear and active
wear at Strings Swimwear Company exclusively.

The sun was coming up and the heat started biting my arms. But the beach water below my thighs was
still cold.

"Just this angle and we're done. Smize... show me your in-love look... think of Dylan Cooper. Sonrìe con
tus ojos (Smile with your eyes.) Tim continued taking photos of me.

"You look tired already. You can't achieve the look I'm looking. Just give me your natural smile.
Okayyy... that's it." He snapped some more photos then turned to the people sitting at the shore. "Pack
up everyone, we're done!"

My personal assistant slash nanny, Carmen Vega, single and in her late fifties, walked towards me.
Bringing my hat and white embroidered rope tunic with her. I loved Carmen. She was very patient and
understanding with me. She even treated me like her daughter.

We were in a famous five star hotel and Beach Resort in Cartagena, Colombia. We arrived yesterday for
the photo and video shoot of Strings new swimwear and beachwear summer collection.

"Finally, you can take a rest now."

"Yeah." I replied and pulled on my tunic, covering my black bikini.

Carmen helped me by pulling the hem of my tunic down. "Dylan called. He said he's on his way now."

"Oh! That's great."

"I'm sure you're very excited to see him tonight."

"Of course. I can't wait. I miss him already." It had been a week since I last saw Dylan. He was in the
United States shooting for his new telenovela.

"That boy is so lucky. Lo amas tantu. (You love him so much.)" Carmen replied.

My fiancée, Dylan Cooper was a famous Colombian-American actor. A Telenovela hearthrob. He was
tall, lean and very handsome – with a cute smile. He was funny, outspoken and a good listener. He had
good taste in clothes and shoes. He treated his mother with respect. He loved music, a good dancer and
singer. Many loved him, men and women, young and old. He was very dedicated to his work as an actor
and won many awards.

I met Dylan in a photoshoot. Strings Swimwear Company hired him to model their product six months
ago. We did the swimwear photoshoot together. It was very awkward at first. It was the first time I
partnered with a man – and to think that he was a sensational Telenovela star. But Dylan was a
gentleman. He made me feel at ease with him.

The second time I met Dylan, it was in a veterinarian's clinic. My dog, Bitsy got her rabies shot. Dylan
was there to have his dog groomed.

"Are you stalking me?" His eyebrows shot up when he saw me inside the clinic.

"Oh! I thought you're the one stalking me."

He laughed and we started talking about our dogs for a few minutes. I left ahead of him. Bitsy became
irritable after her vaccine.

After a week, I met Dylan again in a friend's party.

"You know, if you're stalking someone, you should make it less obvious." An easy smile played at the
corners of his mouth.

"Excuse me? Are you implying that I'm stalking you?"

"Aren't you?"

"Believe me. I'm not. I don't even watch telenovelas. I'm not your fan."

"It's okay. You don't have to lie. I'm used to it." He chuckled.

What an arrogant and egoistic man! He thought that all female species fell for his charms and looks.

"Sorry to disappoint you. But I don't find you attractive."

He frowned. "Not even a little?"

"Nope. Not all women find you irresistible. Excuse me." I spun around and left him.

The third time our path crossed was three days after, in the gym. I was so upset when I arrived at the gym
and saw him there. And what was more upsetting was, he was talking to my personal trainer.

I totally ignored him and started working on my work out program.

"Are you going to pretend that you don't see me?"

"There's a difference between pretending and avoiding. I'm avoiding you. I don't want you to accuse me
of stalking you again. It seems like you established it in your mind already." I pressed the cool down
button of the treadmill machine and continued walking in lower speed.

"I'm sorry if it upsets you..."

"It is very upsetting. And now, I have a feeling that you're going to accuse me again of stalking you! For
your information, I'm a member of this gym for months already. You can ask anyone here..."

"I know." He grinned.

"I don't know why I keep on meeting you. It's just a coincidence."

"It's not."

"What do you mean?"

"I knew you're going to the vet that day. It was your dog's schedule of vaccine. I even borrowed my P.A.'s
dog just to see you. I was about to ask you for a cup of coffee, but unfortunately, you left in a hurry."

I was shocked by his revelation, but continued to listen to him.

"I invited myself to your friend's party. I was meaning to ask you for a date, but my usual pick up line
didn't work on you. I was so bothered and felt so bad that night."
"I don't believe you."

"It's the truth. Okay, I admit. I'm the one stalking you. My sources said that you don't go out on a date.
You don't entertain men." He inhaled deeply. "I just don't know how to approach you."

"Then don't approach me. Your sources are right. I don't date and entertain men."

Dylan was pretty insistent. He courted me. He sent me flowers and wrote poems for me, everyday. He
was a very romantic and wonderful man. Eventually i agreed to go out with him on a date... a date that led
to many dates.

Last Saturday, Dylan proposed to me and I accepted it.

"The worst feeling in life is not being lonely. It's being forgotten by someone you could never forget." --
Anonymous

Xander's POV

**Cartagena, Colombia**

I pulled up my rented Maserati outside the lobby of Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena Hotel. The
valet greeted me and took the car keys.
I almost bumped at a group of women when I entered the hotel. They were all wearing pastel floral
dresses with flower crowns on their heads. They looked like bridesmaids in a garden wedding.

The girls eyed me up and down, then giggled.

I continued on my way inside the hotel. The ambiance was very nice, striking a balance of French art and
beauty. The architectural designs were a blending of vintage and contemporary.

I went directly to the reception area and checked-in in their presidential suite.

"Is Lily Rojas already checked in yesterday?" I asked the receptionist.

"You know her sir?"

Damn it. She just wouldn't say Yes or No.

"Of course. I know her very well. Actually... I'm meeting her here." I gave her my best smile.

"Ahhhh... I see." Her mouth opened in surprise. "Yeah, she's here since yesterday."

Good. Mr. Hayes did his job well in knowing Mia's itinerary.

I heard a commotion. The rising shrills of women's voices and giggles. I turned to where the voices were.

"Sorry about the noise sir. A famous celebrity just checked in today causing excitement to some of our
female guests. But normally, it's very quiet here."

"Is that the telenovela actor?" I asked her.

"Yeah. Dylan Cooper. You know him sir?" The receptionist's face lifted up with excitement.

"Not personally." My mouth thinning with displeasure. So, he is here with Mia.

***

I took a shower and planned on how to confront Mia.

Mia. The only woman who captured my heart. It had been a year, but still I couldn't get her out of my
system. She left her mark on me - so deeply... in every cell of my body... in every drop of my blood.

I missed her... I missed her so badly.

I closed my eyes and looked down. My body turned hard just thinking of her. I turned the shower lever to
the full blue direction and shivered.
I have known Mia since she was still in Senior High. She was my sister's best friend. During dinner, Stella
told us about her activities in the day. Her new friend Mia, who was a fifteen year old transferee from
New Zealand. Very smart with an attractive English accent. The girly things they did, their sleepovers,
their celebrity and school crushes, the parties they went and other things. Well, I was not interested to
hear anything about Mia at that time. For me, she was just Stella's classmate and a friend.

Several times, I met Mia in the house. She was so thin and pale. She even looked like a kid in her school
uniform. We never talked or see eye to eye. She always avoided looking at me. I was never bothered. I
didn't have time talking to young girls... she was fifteen and I was twenty at that time.

I remembered talking to Mia for the first time. It was during Stella's eighteenth birthday . I came across
her in the hotel hall. We were alone. She looked so surprise seeing me and she didn't have a choice but to
look at me in the eye.

"Who died?" I asked her. She was wearing an all black long sleeves dress like a pilgrim.

"What?"

"You look like you've been in a funeral." I extended a hand... a little, to her dress.

The smile on her face slowly faded. A dim flush raced her pale and beautiful face like a fever.

"No one died, Mr. Valiente... I mean, not recently."

Instantly, I was bothered. It made me regret what I just said. Damn. Why couldn't I just keep my mouth
shut.

I clenched my hand and abruptly put it down.

"I'm sorry. It's just like... your dress..." So black and conservative like a nun. I really wanted to add, but I
didn't want to embarrass her further.

"I love black and this is my manner of dressing." She lifted her small chin proudly and looked at me with
contempt. "I know men like you prefer their women to dress in skimpy tight dresses with plunging
necklines and open back.... Showing more cleavage and skin..."

"Men like me?"

"Yeah. MEN. LIKE. YOU." She emphasized each word with gritted teeth.

I chuckled. I didn't know what happened. But she got my attention. I was really amused of her. "What do
you mean by that statement? I'm curious."

"I don't have to say it. You know what I mean."

"Ah... that's not fair." I moved towards her slowly and she was stepping backwards, trying to avoid any
body contact from me.
"Stay away from me." Mia said sharply.

"I won't until you tell me what you mean."

Mia shook her head. Then she stopped stepping backward when her back touched the wall. She resembled
like a prey trapped and scared of being eaten.

I studied her face, her eyes and her lips. God. She looked so beautiful. Why haven't I noticed that before?

"I wonder what men like me do to young girls like you?" I lifted a finger to touch her face.

"Don't touch me." Her voice was fragile and shaking.

That made me stop and flattened my hand on the wall above her head. My brain said that I should go and
leave her alone, but my body wouldn't allow me to go.

I held her eyes with mine, wouldn't let her look away. Her glassy blue eyes were so compelling,
magnetic... yet full of remoteness and unquenchable warmth.

I moved my face nearer to hers and instantly our breath mingled. I inhaled her scent and the warm of her
breath deeply. So fresh and sweet. I leaned forward. A kiss. Just one kiss.

Mia put her fingertips on my chest. I gasped. The mere touch of her hand made my heart jumped and
body tensed.

"Let me go." She almost whispered then pushed my chest a little.

I felt like I was splashed with a bucket full of iced water. I stepped backward and saw her run away from
me.

***

I saw Mia the moment I walked inside the bar, wearing a very sexy satin dress and stiletto heels. Who
would ever miss her, she looked like a lonely sexy nymphet sitting there on a stool. Every man was
eyeing her.

I sighed heavily. Mia wouldn't dress like that before.

I walked towards where she was and sat beside her.

I kept an eye on her. She was looking down at her margarita, then slowly her thick eyelashes lifted up.

Our eyes caught each other and we held eyes for fraction of a second.
"Hello Mia. Nice seeing you again."

Chapter Three (UNEDITED)

"Sometimes I wonder if love is worth fighting for, but I remember your face and I'm ready for war." –
Pinterest, curiano.com

Lily's POV

I waited for Dylan at the bar for our dinner date. He called awhile ago that he would be late, just a few
minutes. He had a sudden video interview in a local TV Network. He couldn't say no, especially now that
the next season of his Telenovela, La Paśion de Santiago was about to start.

I heard the man sitting beside me ordered a drink. Something about his voice made me look at him.

Jet black hair. Silvery gray eyes. Aquiline nose. His mouth was thin with cynical twist to it. He had a very
striking attractive features. Bronzed skin, tall, lean, strong and rigid.

The man was already staring at me. His eyes like bullets aiming at me – ready to pull the trigger if I make
a move. I felt like I was in a trap... and there was no means of escape.

"Hello Mia. Nice seeing you again."

The tone of his voice signalled danger, like a warning – for me to face him and not to mess up with him.

I gasped. He looked really dangerous and frightening like a devil, despite his clean pure white button up
shirt and pants.

A tumble of confused thoughts and feelings assailed within me. I froze on my seat and got tongue-tied.

"I couldn't believe you're hiding here in Colombia. Of all places, you chose to be here. Why Mia? You
think that this is the last place that I'd come looking for you?" His lips twisted with distaste. "But I guess
this is your brother's idea. Tell him that I send my congratulations. He'd done a good job fooling me."

I couldn't take my eyes off him. I felt like I was in a dream – a horrible nightmare. My body was
shivering with fear and my palms got sweaty.

"Aren't you going to say anything?"

"I... I..." I stammered.

"Stop staring at me and say something."

"I... I don't know you, mister."

A muscle clenched along his jaw. He shifted on his seat and turned his whole body towards me. "We're
done with hide and seek Mia. Tell me, what game are we playing now? Pretending not knowing each
other?"

I felt the heat rose on my cheeks. He was mocking me and made me so upset. I straightened on my seat
and looked around. Where is Dylan when I needed him?

"Why did you run away Mia. What's wrong? You didn't even leave me a note. What happened to us? I
need a damn explanation!"

"Lo siento (I'm sorry)... but you got the wrong person. Mi nombre es Lily Rojas and I really don't know
you, mister. Excuse me." I stood up to get away from him - to run as fast as I could, but his hand was
very quick, he clasped my wrist tightly and pulled me closer on his side.

I yelped at the pain. The pain of his burning touch... like fire... turning my body into flame.

"I know, it's you, Mia. You can't deceive me with your fake Colombian accent. You may have dyed your
hair into gold, got a sun tan skin and dress stylishly but I know you so well, every inch of your body."

"Let me go. Please señor... I don't know what you're talking about." I struggled for him to let go of my
wrist, but his hand was like an iron clasp.

"What's going on here?" Dylan. Thanks God he arrived. "Take your hand off my fiancée!"

The man did not let go of my wrist, but even pulled me closer to him. "Correction. My fiancée."
"What?" Dylan's eyebrows furrowed. "What's the meaning of this, Lily? We just got engaged last week
and now you have another fiancée?"

"No! He mistook me for his fiancée. I told him he got the wrong person." I pulled my arm and finally he
let go of my wrist.

Dylan held his hands up and faced the man squarely. "I don't want to create any trouble, okay. We'll talk
and settle this in a very calm manner. I don't need this kind of publicity. It's bad for my image especially
that I have an upcoming Telenovela season 2 series."

What? All Dylan could think of at the moment was his image and Telenovela rating?

"I'm sure you know me, I'm Dylan Cooper, the Telenovela actor." Dylan gave his usual camera smile and
extended his hand to the man for a handshake, but the man ignored it.

"I'm Xander Valiente. Mia's fiancée... or Lily, whatever your name is right now." He gave me a sideway
glance then shook his head, disapprovingly.

Dylan heaved a sigh. "You got the wrong girl, Mr. Valiente. Lily is my fiancée."

"I assure you Mr. Cooper that she is not Lily. Her real name is Mia Stewart. She was born and raised in
New Zealand. Her brother, Tristan Latsis, brought her in Los Angeles to study when her mother died.
She was fifteen at that time and that same year, I first met her. She was my sister's best friend." He held
my eyes with no shame while talking, like we were the only person in the room. "Our relationship started
two years ago. We got engaged and lived together for a couple of months."

"No tengo un hermano (I don't have a brother). I... I haven't been to New Zealand or Los Angeles. I'm a...
a Colombian."

"Of course you are, Lily." Dylan backed me up. "I understand your situation, Mr. Valiente. You know, it
happens all the time, having similar faces. Some people even mistook me for a Mexican actor Aaron
Diaz. It's very upsetting... and insulting on my part. But, that's life. We have to learn to accept it."

Mr. Valiente took something on his pants rear pocket. It was a small envelope. Then he handed it to
Dylan. "These are proofs that Lily and Mia are the same. See for yourself."

Dylan shrugged his shoulders and took the envelope.

"I'll leave you for now, Mia. But I'll see you tomorrow." Mr. Valiente said before he spun around and left.

Dylan opened the envelope. It contained pictures, about ten of them. He scanned the pictures thoroughly,
one by one. Then he stopped.

"She is you, Lily."

Chapter Four [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter Four (UNEDITED)

"Maybe one day we'll meet again, when we're different people. Maybe then, we'll be better for each
other." - Pinterest

Xander's POV

I don't know what I'm capable of doing if I'll catch them sleeping together. The thought made me
breathless with rage already. I could murder that narcissistic telenovela actor in a snap.

It was six in the morning and I was outside Mia's suite room, knocking.

The room immediately opened and a cleaner greeted me.

"If you're looking for the beautiful model who occupied this room, you just missed her, sir. She checked
out an hour ago."

Damn it!
I took my phone and called my pilot. "Prepare the plane. We're flying to Bogotá."

Five hours later

"What are you doing here!?" Mia's eyes glared at me angrily.

Damn. The feeling of seeing her again. The same electrical feeling I had when I saw her in the bar last
night. Very heavy in the heart and mindblowing. I couldn't think straight – my mind went blank. Last
night, I was not able to sleep. I kept on thinking about her, nonstop.

"Obviously following you." I congratulated myself for managing to say anything. My heart was really
beating so fast and my stomach flipped flopped.

"Qué deseas? (What do you want?) I am not your fiancée! Just leave me alone." She struggled to close the
front door but I stopped her without using much strength.

"Let's talk."

"There's nothing to talk about. Can't you understand? Yo no soy tu novia (I am not your girlfriend)." Her
eyes lit with anger.

I managed to get inside her apartment. I had to. I didn't care anymore if I was tresspassing or invading her
privacy. I have to talk to her.

I was surprised. The apartment was very small, but clean and cozy. Actually... it was not what I expected
because I knew that her extremely rich brother, Tristan Latsis would provide her the best of everything.
But this house... it made me think that his brother was not supporting her at all.

"Mia..."

"Lily. My name is Lily Rojas." She looked agitated. "I know you don't believe me, but I am not your
girlfriend. We may have similar faces, but I am not her. I am a Colombian. I live in this country all my
life."

"Stop lying."

"I'm not lying!" Her lips thinned with anger.

"You know you are. It's pointless. I have all the facts that you are Mia. Why do you have to deny? Why
are you shutting everything. Why are you shutting me out of your life?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." She avoided looking at me then wandered around the room
restlessly.

She looked so pretty. Her face was totally made up. Thick eyelashes, flawless skin and pink lipstick. She
was wearing a red tube top, showing her bikini tan lines. Her very short booty shorts showed her
underbutt cleavage and spotless sunkissed legs. Damn. How could I concentrate talking to her now. My
body immediately heated and my shank hardened like rock.
I moved forward, stopping in front of her, so she wouldn't see how much she affected me.

"You always look for an escape. You run when you encounter a situation or a problem you can't handle
instead of facing it. Just like this morning. You checked out of the hotel so early. You were avoiding me."

She drew back and leaned against the wall. "Absolutely not! I had an early flight back here for a
pictorial."

"Really? Not very convincing Mia."

She gave an impatient shrug. "I don't have to convince you about anything. It's your problem if you won't
believe me."

I looked at the small couch, small Tv and small dining table. Everything was small, feminine and not
luxurious. A telenovela actor wouldn't be living in this kind of place. Good. I don't know what I'm
capable of doing if I caught them sharing the same apartment.

"So, he doesn't live here."

"Dylan? Of course not."

I felt relieved. I went near the couch to sit down. "May I?"

She closed her eyes for a second then exhaled heavily. "Okay. But I don't have much time to entertain
you. I'm busy."

I sat down on the couch and leaned my back, keeping my body and mind relax. Then my eyes caught the
opened boxes stuffed with things at the corner of the room.

"What's that boxes for?"

"My stuffs. I'm moving to Dylan's place tomorrow."

"What?"

"I'm giving up this apartment. It's useless keeping this place since we're going to get married pretty soon."

Is she serious? She can't marry him. No way. She's engaged to me. Dammit. I can't... I won't let her be
with him.

"No... NO. You're not moving to his place. I won't allow that." I abruptly stood up. I was overwhelmed
with jealousy, rage and panic.

"Why? Who are you to stop me?"

"Why can't you remember me, Mia? I'm Xander, your fiancée. What happened to your brain?"

"What do you mean? My brain is functioning well mister. It's you who have a brain problem. You're
getting insane!" She heaved a long sigh. "Again... I'm not your missing fiancée. Please believe me. I'm
getting married very soon to a wonderful man. I love Dylan and he loves me. We're happy together.
Please have some respect and don't ruin our relationship."

"No matter how many times you deny you are not Mia, but I'm one hundred one percent sure that you are
her. I can't let you marry another man. I'll fight for you."

She made a frustrated groan. "I'm Lily not Mia. Stop this craziness of yours. You are suffocating me
already. Go home to your country and leave me alone."

"No. I don't know what happened to you. Maybe you have some sort of an amnesia. You forgot who you
were."

"You crazy man! How can I forget myself when I'm living here in Colombia all my life. I was born here."

"Seriously? You mean you have a family here?"

"Of course. My family is in the north. You can go and see them for yourself if you want."

I looked at the picture frame on top of the corner table. A recent picture of her standing between a
middle-aged man and woman. The three of them were in a beach. They were smiling and embracing each
other. Like a happy family.

One thing I noticed... they were all blond.

If she is blond, born and raised in Colombia and with a family here... therefore... she is not Mia? That's
impossible.

But she looked like Mia. And every time I looked at her, I have the same feeling when I looked at Mia.
Love. Care. Admiration. Respect and Loyalty.

Mia... Lily...

"How old are you now Mia? I mean... Lily?"

"Twenty five."

Twenty-five. Mia is twenty-four. They were almost the same age.

"Your birthday?"

"9th of July."

Mia's birthday was every 10th of August.

I asked her about where she studied. When she started her modelling career and other things. She anwered
all my questions immediately without any hesitation. I could sense that she was sincere with her answers.

I got so confused now. Slowly by slowly the thought that she was Mia started to fade. The more I
discovered about her, the more I was convinced that she was not Mia.

I also realized that Lily was very different from Mia. She smiled a lot and talked confidently - while Mia
barely smile, very serious and shy. Absolutely opposite with Lily's personality. Other things I noticed
were...

Lily was a modern woman. Mia was conservative.

Lily dressed colorful, sexy and fashionable clothes. Mia was very old-fashion and wore black and white
only.

Lily had a sexy Colombian accent. Mia had a New Zealand accent.

Lily wore makeup while Mia used only baby powder on her face.

Lily was sophisticated and Mia was a very simple girl.

Nah. Lily is not Mia. I was certain now that Lily is not Mia.

But... why is it that deep inside, I feel so bad... and very disappointed. The heavy feeling won't stop. Like
an ache... a fever that won't go away. Part of me won't ever let her go.

I looked at Lily. I wondered why the electricity was still there and the same warm glow I felt inside
seeing her last night - when I thought she was Mia. The feeling of happiness spreading my whole body
being near her wouldn't go away.

For heaven's sake. She's not Mia! My mind accepted it already... but why is it that my stubborn heart
won't?

"I don't want anyone else to have your heart, kiss your lips, be in your arms, be the one you love. I don't
want anyone to take my place." – Prakhay Sahar, LikeLoveQuotes.com

Lily's POV

"Is he gone?" Carmen, my personal assistant/nanny asked. She hid in my bedroom the whole time Xander
Valiente was in the house.

"I guess so."

The front door opened and my personal driver/bodyguard, Eduardo rushed in.

Carmen and I jerked up.

"You scare the hell out of us, Eduardo!" Carmen yelled.

"I'm sorry. I came in to tell you that he already left." Eduardo replied.

Carmen heaved a sigh. "That's good. Okay, help us pack all these things, Eduardo. We need to hurry up.
He might come back."

"I don't think he'll come back." I told them.

"We can't be sure. Men like that don't easily give up." Carmen opened the boxes and loaded some stuffs
inside.

I shrugged my shoulders and sat at the corner of the room, on the floor. I couldn't get his image out of my
mind. His presence was so unnerving that my body was still shaking. I found him very disturbing.

"Are you okay?" Carmen asked.

I was not okay. I wanted to cry... to pour my heart out. But I didn't want to break down. Not now. Not
again.

"Oh dear." Carmen put down the books and walked towards me.

"I'm really fine. No need to worry. I... I'm okay. I'm just tired." I stood up and rubbed my temple.

"Are you sure?" Carmen sounded so concern again.

"Yeah." I said then headed to my bedroom. I continued packing my clothes and shoes in my luggage. I
finished immediately since there were just a few stuff to pack.

I changed my clothes into thick black jeggings and V-neck white merino sweater. Then I grabbed my tan
faux shearling jacket. It was July and the peak of winter to the place we were heading.

I yawned. I was so sleepy, but we had to get going. I could sleep later.

I went back to the living room, all set and ready to go. The boxes were already sealed. It contained some
of my pictures, books, magazines, collections and other.

"Can I keep this as a souvenir?" Eduardo held a picture frame. It was a picture of me with him and
Carmen in the beach. It was taken about six months ago.

"Of course, you can keep it Eduardo." I said. He wouldn't be coming with us and it was really sad leaving
him. I was used having him as my driver and bodyguard.

"Thank you miss."

"We have to go now. We have a long flight ahead of us." Carmen said.

Twenty minutes later ***

"Oh God. I forgot your passport." Carmen said in a panic. We were already halfway to the airport when
she remembered it.

"Where did you put it?"

"I guess it's on the dining table when I grabbed some water." She said then checked the time in her
wristwatch. "I'm sorry. We need to go back to the apartment."
Xander's POV

I can't get her out of my mind.

I was inside my private plane, feeling so confused. I was holding a glass of whiskey and staring at
nothing.

"We're leaving in fifteen minutes Mr. Valiente." My pilot said then walked away after I acknowledged
him with a nod.

My phone suddenly rang. It was Mr. Hayes. The private investigator.

I called him awhile ago that he got the wrong girl. But he still insisted that Lily was Mia.

"I can't talk to you now. We're leaving in a few minutes."

"Mr. Valiente, just give me a minute. I sent you a picture in your email. Please check on it."

"Enough about this already. Lily is not Mia." I drawled frustratedly.

"I can prove to you that she is Mia. Please. Open your email."

I took my phone and opened my email. The picture took me by surprise. It was Mia wearing her favorite
black dress. Beside her was the woman I saw in the picture awhile ago, at Lily's living room – Lily's
mother.

"You've seen the picture?"

"Yes." I replied.

"That woman beside her... Is that the same woman that Lily said her mother?"

"Yes."

"HA-HA! She lied to you Mr. Valiente. That's Carmen Vega. Her personal assistant and nanny. That
picture was taken a year ago, when Mia started her modelling career. I got the picture from her fellow
model."

I stared at the picture with total disbelief. I was numb with increasing rage and shock.
Damn it. She fooled me!

***

She's gone.

I didn't have a choice but to break the front door of the apartment. I was banging it for half an hour and
nobody answered.

When I entered the house, the boxes in the corner were gone. I checked her room and her wardrobe, her
clothes were all gone.

I went to her bathroom and saw an empty box of ash blond hair color cream.

I was restless. I tried to figure out where she went. She said she was moving to that telenovela actor's
house.

DAMMIT! I wouldn't allow that now.

I went back to the living room and looked around. The picture frame was gone. I inhaled deeply, easing
my nerves. How could you do this to me, Mia.

I took my phone and called Mr. Hayes. I wanted him to check where the hell that telenovela actor lived.
I have to get Mia, by any means necessary. I would fight for her and wouldn't stop until I have her back.

I was about to turn to go when something caught my eye – a board backed envelope on top of the dining
table.

I stopped.

I looked at it intently. Maybe it was just an empty envelope. I strode towards the front door, aiming to
find Mia as soon as possible.

When I opened the door, I stopped again. I was really disturbed. My mind wouldn't rest until I'll get hold
of that envelope.

I closed the door and walked towards the dining table. I took the envelope and opened it in a hurry.

Inside was a black colored passport. I opened it and stared at the picture.

Just in time, the front door opened. A woman came in and said.

"Let me explain."

Chapter Six [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter Six (Unedited)

--Kindly put your playlist here---

"A man in love is cautious with the decisions he makes, words he says and actions he takes, so he never
purposefully causes her pain. He believes in her when she struggles believing in herself. He is her
foundation, where she feels safe to be her true self." – Elizabeth Bourgeret

Xander's POV

"Where is Mia." I snapped at the woman in front of me. The woman I recognized as Carmen Vega.

"She's in the car."

I looked at the picture of Mia in the New Zealand passport and the name written in bold letters. MIA
STEWART. Then I closed it and put it back in the envelope - never letting go of it.

I strode to the door but Carmen Vega stopped me. "Please. There's something very important that you
need know before you confront her."

I stopped and turned to her.

"She can't remember you."

"What do you mean she can't remember me?"

"She lost her memory. She can't recall everything that happened to her in the past."

A sudden chill ran down inside my body. NO. I refused to acknowledge what she said. This was just
another of Mia's lies, their lies.

"Do I look stupid to you?" I chuckled. "Mia fooled me already, insisted that she is Lily. What the... She's
becoming a good actress! Both of you can't fool me again. What you're saying is impossible."

"It's true, Mr. Valiente. She has an amnesia."

"Oh really?" I smirked. "Because she has amnesia, she changed her name from Mia Stewart to Lily
Rojas?"

"Yes. Because she thought her name is Lily Rojas."

"That's the funniest thing I've ever heard, Miss Vega. That thing happens only in telenovela stories."

"I know you won't believe me. I'm not forcing you though." She heaved a sigh. "A year ago, Mia was
rescued in the woods. She was unconscious and her head was bleeding. She was confined in California
Medical Center for a week. For three days, she was always sleeping, and refused to wake up."

What? I felt my heart sank. Mia was in the woods... unconscious and bleeding? I didn't want to believe
what Carmen Vega said, but she seemed like telling the truth.

"The doctor said she was fine. All her medical examinations resulted negative. But she experienced
severe depression to the point that her brain blocked everything. She can't remember her brother...
everyone including you. She can't even remember her real name."

I shook my head in confusion. Finally I found my voice and asked her. "How come she arrived here in
Colombia. Of all places... Who brought her here?"

"Her brother, Tristan Latsis." Tears suddenly pooled in her eyes. "When she woke up, she wanted to go
home to Colombia. She said she is a Colombian and even insisted that her name is Lily Rojas."

Oh Mia.... what happened to you...

"The doctor advised to let her do what she wants. She's the only one who can help herself to recover and
remember everything."

I couldn't understand what I felt at that moment. I felt so miserable not knowing what she went through.
She suffered being alone and forgetting everything. I should have been by her side... those times she was
in distress.

Dammit.
What was I thinking at that time? I was so stubborn and full of pride. I thought she ran away from me
because she believed her brother's false accusations that I was a devil-may-care guy, partygoer and a
player.

"I have to talk to Mia."

"NO!" She almost shouted, then she cleared her throat. "I'm sorry. But we have a plane to catch."

"Going where?"

"To New Zealand."

I inhaled deeply. "She lied. She said she's moving to the telenovela actor's house."

"I know." She shrugged her shoulders. "You can't blame her. She's scared of you. If you don't mind me
saying this, I have a feeling that you're part of her past that she wanted to forget."

I didn't want to contradict her with that. I had the same feeling too. I remembered Mia always restless a
week before she left.

"I'm taking Mia back to L.A."

"No. You can't do that. Her brother will be furious."

"To hell with Tristan Latsis! I'm not leaving without her. Now that I found her, I won't let her out of my
sight. I'll do anything, everything to bring her memories back."

"No... please. She won't understand. She's afraid of you."

"I don't think so."

Lily's POV

I wondered what happened to Carmen. She was so quiet since she came back in the car.

"Did you get my passport?" I asked her.

"Yes. Sure. I... I have it in my bag."

I smiled at her then turned my face at the window, watching the beaches we passed by.

"You're so quiet? Something's wrong?" I asked Carmen.

"No. Everything's fine. I'm just thinking about um... something."

I knew Carmen was hesitant to come with me in New Zealand. There was something going on between
her and Eduardo. They were secretly in love with each other but too stubborn to admit it.

We were in the airport, walking towards a private jet when Carmen said. "I don't think I can come with
you, Lily. I can't leave Colombia. My heart belongs here."

I stopped walking and hugged her. Then we looked at Eduardo who was loading the boxes together with a
crew going inside the plane. "I know."

Carmen smiled with tears falling down on her cheeks. "I'm going to miss you. You're like a daughter to
me."

"Awee, Carmen. You're making me cry also." Tears immediately fell on my cheeks. "I love you. I'm
going to miss you more. I'm used having you with me every day."

She wiped her tears but it kept on falling. "You have to be strong, Lily."

"Yes. I have to."

"You're going home."

I nodded and hugged her again.

"Just remember this Lily. There's someone in the plane from your past. I trust him to take care of you. He
will help you regain your memory."

"Who?" My heart skipped a beat.

"You will find out. But don't be mad at me. Okay? I'm just doing the right thing for you. I love you and I
want the best for you."

"But Carmen..."

"Just trust me, Lily. And don't be scared of him. He's a good guy."

I nodded. "I trust you, Carmen." I hugged her for the last time then walked towards the plane... alone.

Chapter Seven [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter Seven (UNEDITED)

---Kindly put your playlist here---

"Falling for you was like falling down the stairs. I was in complete control at first, then without warning I
was spinning, tumbling, and had no idea why or how. Then, before I even knew what happened, I lay at
the bottom; shocked, stunned and so oddly aware that I still ended up exactly where I was trying to go." –
K. Towne Jr.

Xander's POV

I was inside the plane, waiting. What took them so long?

While waiting, I searched about amnesia on my phone.

Amnesia, from , meaning "forgetfulness"; from ἀ- meaning "without", and mnesis, meaning "memory"),
also known as amnesic syndrome. It is a deficit in caused by , disease, or . Amnesia can also be caused
temporarily by the use of various and . Essentially, amnesia is loss of memory. The memory can be
either wholly or partially lost due to the extent of damage that was caused.

I felt miserable. Knowing that Mia suffered from amnesia was like a steel weight inside of me. I felt like I
lost her. The thought that she couldn't remember me was so disturbing, bothering... and painful.
How did this happen? What really happened to her? And why did she suddenly left me?

I shoved my hands through my hair, desperately. How will I know the answers when she lost her
memory? Oh Mia...

I'm going to find a very good doctor who can help her regain her memory. I won't give until she
remembers everything. She has to. I don't want to lose her.

I stood up and looked at the window. I saw Mia instantly. She was talking to Carmen Vega.

I felt the sudden rush of blood flowing inside my body. My heart was hammering foolishly. Confirming
that Lily was Mia made me so nervous. I didn't know how to handle her. I didn't want to scare her away.

I touched the envelope inside my jacket. Inside it was Mia's passport. Carmen Vega was upset that I
wouldn't give it to her. She was a stubborn woman but in the end, I was able to convince her that I would
do everything to help bring Mia's memory back.

Mia entered the plane, looking so beautiful. Despite her blond hair, modern outfit and well-done makeup,
I didn't see her as Lily now. For me, she was Mia. My fiancée.

"Hi." I greeted her.

She just looked at me then walked inside.

I took her bag and guided her to a seat.

"Do you want a drink? Apple juice, coffee, tea... there's also red wine. You love red wine..."

"No." She said briefly.

"No? Are you hungry? You want a sandwich? Perhaps a cake? What about lamb steak, your favorite. I'm
going to ask the chef if he has some lamb, if not then we can have someone get it before we'll leave."

"No."

I sat in front of her. My hands were trembling and my body was so tense. She made me so nervous and
restless. I wanted to please her. I wanted to give her anything she wanted... and so badly, I wanted to hug
her... to kiss her senseless. I missed her.

"Okay. What do you want?"

"I want to be alone." She answered then shifted her body towards the window and looked outside.

I felt rejected. And that really hurt.

I went to the front to talk to the pilots. I stayed their for a while, trying to divert my attention away from
Mia. I have to be very patient and more undertanding with her and avoid being too sensitive. I have to
bear in mind that she couldn't remember me.

I went back to see Mia sleeping. I knelt infront of her and fastened her seatbelt. She stirred a little but
immediately went back to sleep.

I sat down opposite Mia and waited until the plane settled up. I just watched her sleeping. My eyes
focused at the ring on her finger. Damn. She was still wearing the telenovela actor's ring. At that moment,
I wanted to remove it from her finger and throw it out of the plane so she couldn't find it. My mood
veered sharply to anger. She should be wearing my ring!

I read the article that I saved on my phone about Amnesia again. The causes, types and treatment.

A few minutes, I fell asleep. When I woke up, Mia was already wide awake and eating a sandwich. I
checked the time – we had been flying for two hours already.

"Sorry. You should have wake me up." I stretched my arms.

"I'm fine. Stop treating me like a child."

I wished she was, so my nerves would relax.

"I'm not treating you like a child, Mia."

"Lily. My name is Lily." She said curtly.

I inhaled deeply. She wouldn't recover if she kept on denying her true identity. She had to learn to accept
that she was Mia.

I stood up and sat beside her. Gently, I spoke to her. "I'm going to help you bring back your memory. You
have to get better. Carmen trusted me to help you that's why I'm bringing you home."

"In New Zealand?"

"In California. Your brother has a home there. You used to live there with your father."

She nodded.

I wanted to tell her that we also have a home in California. For almost a year, we lived together. But she
might get confused.

"Do you want me to help you remember?" I asked her.

"Of course. That's why I'm here."

I took her hand and clasped it between mine. It felt so good holding her again- even just palm to palm.
Like it was just yesterday that we were happy together as a couple.
"I will help you remember the past. I'll do my very best. I'll take you to the best doctor, anywhere in the
world, Mia. So you will remember everything."

"No. I'm Lily..." She pulled her hand away from mine.

"You're not Lily. You are Mia. You won't get well if you keep on denying your true identity."

"But..."

"Please Mia. This is for your own good."

She was silent, then eventually nodded. "Okay."

I gave her my warmest smile. Actually, I was overwhelmed with happiness that she trusted me to help
her. I saw hopes and chances for us to start all over again.

For almost an hour, I told Mia about her life. Everything I knew about her. Her family, her life in New
Zealand, where she studied, her best friend, Stella, and others.

"Do you recall anything I've said?"

She looked so sad and confused. "No."

"Don't worry. You will remember. It takes time."

"What if my memory won't come back?"

"It will come back, Mia. I'm going to help you."

"What if it really won't?"

"It will."

She looked so upset. "You don't understand. You can't insist that it will. You're not the one who is sick!"

"You're not sick."

"I am sick! I can't remember everything. My brain froze. It's hard... I don't know who I am, I lost my
friends, my family, my life... everything. It's like being a child again, learning how to walk... to talk..."
Tears suddenly fell on her cheeks. She covered her face with her hands.

"Shh." I took her shoulders and gathered her in my arms. She allowed herself to be held. It gave me great
hope that everything between us would be fine. It a few days or weeks, we would be together again, back
to where we were before.
I looked at the ring on her finger. Tomorrow... she wouldn't be wearing that anymore.

"If you don't want me to be in love with you, you're going to have to stop looking so lovely. First thing
tomorrow I'm having your maids sew some potato sacks together for you."
― Kiera Cass, The Selection

Mia's POV

"Te amo Dylan. I'll be back as soon as I can." I called Dylan the moment the plane landed at Los Angeles,
California. "Of course, I'll take care of myself. Yeah... I know... te extraño mi amor." (I miss you, my
love).

"Don't skip your meals, okay?"

"I won't. Promise."

"Beware of Xander Valiente. Don't fall in love with the guy."

"Of course I won't."

I was in the car with Xander and still continued talking to Dylan. He was driving too fast and looked very
upset. I didn't understand him. His mood easily shifted from being so gentle to an asshole.

"Sueño contigo anoche. Nos casamos. Sí... estábamos tan contentos." (I dream of you last night. We got
married. Yes... we were so happy).

"That is a nice dream." Dylan answered. "Soon, your dream will come true, mi amor."

Xander suddenly stopped the car. My phone fell off my hand and landed on the car floor.

"What happened?" I asked Xander.

He just looked at me and didn't say anything.

Hmp! What a stubborn man.

I picked my phone. Dylan was still there and we continued talking until we arrived at the gate of the
house.

"This is a very big house. Is this my family's house?" It was a beautiful mansion. The architectural design
was a combination of classic and modern. I instantly fell in love on it.

"No." He said firmly, then steered the car to the driveway.

"Who's house is this?" I asked.

He didn't answer.

"Why are we here?" I asked again.

He still didn't answer.

"I thought we're going to my family's house."

"Your dad is in Thailand with her girlfriend. Your brother is in New Zealand. No one will take care of
you there." Finally, he answered.

"So, who's house is this? Yours?"

He stared at me, then said. "Ours."

"Huh? We have a house? The two of us?"

"Yes. You lived here with me for almost a year. You don't remember?"

"No! Perdí la memoria . ¿Cómo puedo recordar ?" (I lost my memory. How can I remember?)

He exhaled heavily. "Will you stop that Colombian accent? Speak English."

"Why not? I'm a..."

"You're not. You're from New Zealand and English is your first language. Okay?" He looked irritated.

What is wrong with him? Why brought me here and offered to help me get well, when it seems like I'm
upsetting him?

The car stopped in front of the house and Xander went out immediately. I followed him and went out of
the car abruptly. His face went sour when he saw me already outside.

Oh-oh. Did he want to do the gentleman's act to open the door for me?

We walked inside the mansion.

Oh my... the house was beautiful inside and out. My eyes roamed in every corner inside the house. It was
decorated nicely and the designs were fabulous. Just like the way I wanted a house to be.

"This is a nice house." I said to break the silence. I looked at the furniture, curtains, the frames, paintings,
figurines and other ornaments. Beautiful. "I like everything inside the house... i love the design."

"Of course. You designed it." Xander finally smiled.

"Really?" I was surprised.

He nodded.

"Um... do we really lived together? As a... couple."

"Of course. Here, take a look." He showed me to a table at the corner with about four picture frames on
top. It was our pictures together. In a formal event. In a garden. In the house. In the Park.
He showed me the kitchen and told me how I loved cooking. I spent all afternoon in the kitchen cooking
and baking. I cooked his favourite food all the time. Butter Chicken. Pasta Al Forno. Rib Eye Steak and
Pork Adobo.

"How come? I don't know how to cook? Are you sure I'm Mia?"

He heaved heavily. "You are Mia. Don't doubt about that. You lost your memory, naturally you forgot all
about it."

I rubbed my temple, feeling agitated.

"Don't worry, very soon you will remember everything. Come, let's go up. I'll show you to our bedroom."

My feet suddenly went cold. "We slept together?"

"Of course. We lived, ate and sleep together. We were in a serious relationship, Mia."

"Oh." I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks. "How serious was it?"

"Very serious." His face turned so sad. "I proposed to you and you accepted happily. We were planning to
get married sooner. But..."

"But what?"

"You left a week before our wedding." His expression turned from sad to angry.

"Why did I do that?"

He shook his head. "I don't know Mia. You're the only one who can answer that question."

"How? I can't even remember you." I was so confused. "Maybe we quarreled."

"No. We did not."

"Maybe I realized I was not in love with you?"

He shook his head again. "You loved me so much Mia. You were always so happy, especially when we
were together."

"Then why?"

"I guess it was pre-wedding jitters."

"I don't think so. I guess there's more than that."

"Whatever it is, it's all in the past. What is important is now. I will help you remember everything."

He guided me up the stairs then we entered a bedroom. "Our bedroom."

My heart raced and my pulses became uneven.

Our bedroom?

I looked at the bed. The sheets were in white and gray. The color of the room was black and white. It was
more of a man's bedroom.

"Your clothes, shoes and other things are still here." He said, opening a closet. I moved closer at him and
inspected what was inside.

"No. These are not mine." My eyes widened looking at the clothes hung neatly inside.

"These are all yours, Mia."

"No, it's not mine... I don't wear clothes like that."

"It's yours, believe me. You loved to wear black only."

"Why?"

"It's your favourite colour. You grew up wearing simple, conservative black dresses."

"But the style... It's so old fashion. Out of this world! I don't want to wear that anymore."

He chuckled. "Well... what do you want to do about it?"

"I just want to get rid of it. We can donate it somewhere."

"Okay. I'll have the clothes put in a box."

I nodded. "Thanks." I looked at the bed again. I felt tired instantly by looking at it. I wanted to crawl and
sleep on it. I was so tired after the long travel. "Am I going to sleep here in this room?"

"Sure. This is our bedroom. You sleep here."

"Okay, thanks." I removed my black boots. Xander was just looking at me. Following my actions. I
removed my sweater and my black jeggings in a hurry. Oh... I felt so comfortable getting rid of my
clothes. I left my white lace bra with matching sexy lace thong on.
"Aren't you going to sleep?"

"A... no... yes... ah..." He stammered. I could see the desire in his eyes. His pupil darkened.

I crawled to bed and stretched my body like a cat. "Hmm.... I'm so tired. I'm going to sleep for hours."

"Um... sure. Do that."

I was so tired... and I fell asleep instantly.

Chapter Nine (UNEDITED)

"it's never too late to change. Every day is a blank page, and your story has yet to be written."
― Amy Zhang, Fallen into Place

Xander's POV

Dammit! Shit!

I went to the bathroom cursing myself. Banging my hand at the tiled wall.

This is torture!

I leaned my head on the wall and closed my eyes. Thinking.

This is too much. I can't bear this anymore.

It was hard. I didn't imagine that it could be this hard.

I missed Mia so badly and every minute with her was pure torture. I wanted to touch her. Kiss her. Make
love with her.

I knew her weakness. I knew where she wanted to be kissed. I knew how to make her melt. And I knew
how to make her scream with pleasure.

Mia.

And now... all I can do is look at her.

I told myself to be patient. But it was so hard. Seeing her removing her boots made me feel heated. Much
more when she removed her sweater and jeans. My body ignited. I was on fire!

She is so sexy. Gorgeous. Beautiful.

I looked down and saw how aroused I was. Dammit! I need a cold shower now.
I remembered being so upset earlier. She was talking to that Telenovela actor. It became depressing and
painful to see her falling in love with another man. I never thought that she would fall for another man...
other than me.

She loves him. I heard her said several times. They even talked about their wedding. F*ckingshit!

I have to stop them. I have to stop her.

Mia will not marry him. She will marry me. I love her. Yes. I still love her, so much. I will do anything to
have her back in my life. Her mind, her heart, her body and soul. I'm going to fight for her.

I took a shower and get dressed. Then I watched Mia sleeping. She was talking on her sleep. I listened to
what she was saying, but couldn't figure out a word. Shew as murmuring.

I decided to go to the office for a while and checked about the latest development of the venture we were
working.

Our family owned an oil and airline Company. It was passed on from my grandfather, Draco Valiente.
My dad, Rafael Valiente started putting up five star hotels. He was influenced by my mom's family, the
Monteiros. My grandfather, Enrique Monteiro was a famous hotel magnate in New York.

I have two brothers, Franco and Manuel. The three of us ran our family's business. As the eldest, I
managed the biggest company. The Valiente Oil Company.

Next to me was Franco. He was always the good boy among the three of us. Achiever in school. Never
did anything wrong. Workaholic. Always known as Mr. Perfect. Became people's choice of the most
sexiest young billionaire last year. He was a replica of our grandpa, Draco Valiente. He ran the airline
company.

Then my brother, Manuel. The notorious playboy. He had a habit of making girls cry. He charms them,
then discards them easily. He managed the Valiente chain of hotels.

We have a sister, Stella. She was the youngest among us siblings and known as the obedient daughter.
The favorite and treated like a princess by our parents. She was always with my parents and oftentimes
accompanied them in their trips. She was Mia's bestfriend.

I was in my office, reviewing a document when my brother Franco arrived.

"What brought you here?"

"I'm leaving for Dubai." Franco sat down on a chair in front of my desk.

"Business or pleasure?"
"Both." He leaned back and smiled. "I have good news."

My eyebrows rose. "What is it?" I leaned forward, putting my arms on the table.

"I got the Lilylake Estate back."

My eyes widened. "Really? That's great. Grandma will be very happy."

"Yeah." Franco looked so proud of himself.

Lilylake Estate was owned by my grandma, Emily Lawrence's ancestors. Her father lost it in a bet to the
Hawkins' family.

"How did you do it?"

"In a bet."

"A bet?"

"Yeah. I played poker with Victor Hawkins. The old man is a gambler. He wouldn't stop playing. I made
him bet his Estate." He chuckled. "My plan works."

"Good. But what about his famous granddaughter, the model... I'm sure she will not allow you to take the
estate."

"She has no choice. It's mine now. And I'm going to give it to grandma, as her birthday gift."

"That would be great."

"Yeah." He stretched his arms to his back. "So, how's Mia? She really has an amnesia?"

I exhaled heavily. "She can't remember everything. She can't even remember me. It's very depressing."

"Send her to the best medical specialist."

"I will." I rubbed my forehead. "Anyway, don't tell anyone about it, okay?"

"Sure. I haven't told anyone, even Manuel."

"Thanks bro."
After two hours in the office, I went home. I checked the time, it was five o'clock. Maybe Mia was
already awake. I planned a special dinner with her. We could talk about the past. Our relationship... how
it started. I would help her recall how we fell for each other. Reminiscing the past.

After talking... we could start touching, caressing, kissing... then making love. I felt my body hardened at
the thought.

But no. It would be a very bad idea.

Patience. Slowly... and surely. She would hate me if I put pressure on her.

When I entered the house, I heard a loud laugh. A girl giggling. It was Mia. Then there was a man
talking.

My heart pumped very fast. Dammit! Who is she talking to?

I followed the voices. It was coming from the pool area.

I walked there in a hurry. I went out of the balcony and immediately saw them.

Mia in a very skimpy black bikini and my brother Manuel in swimming trunks. Both wet from swimming
and lying down in the lounger, drinking champagne.

You are so dead, Manuel!

Chapter Ten [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter Ten (UNEDITED)

--Kindly put your playlist here--

Mia's POV

I woke up wondering where I was. I looked around the room, in color white and gray. It was a man's
bedroom.

Oh! I remember, I'm in L.A.

I went down and explored the mansion. Hmm... Xander said this is our mansion. It's so big and beautiful.
He's a very rich man.

I went to the pool. It was huge in kidney-shaped. The water was so clear and blue. I was tempted to take a
dip. I went back to the room and changed to a black bikini. I saw a robe in the bathroom and wore it over
my bikini.

I jumped into the pool and enjoyed the coolness of the water. I was swimming, doing a lap when someone
said. "Wow, you're good."

I was surprised. I turned around and saw an attractive man standing near the lounger, where my robe
was.

"Hi, I'm Manuel. Xander's brother. Where is he?"

"Oh! I don't know where he is."

"You're a Colombian?"

"Yeah. How did you know?"

"You're accent. What's your name?"

"Lily... Lily Rojas."

"You have a beautiful name, just like you. Gorgeous." He looked at me over seductively. "Are you
Xander's girlfriend?"

"No. Of course not."

He frowned, not believing me. "Why are you here in his house."

"I'm his visitor."

"A visitor...hmm..." He shrugged his shoulders, not so convinced.

"I'm staying temporarily. I'm on a vacation."

"Really?" His smile became wider. "That's nice. Are you sure there's nothing going on between you and
Xander?"

"No. We're just friends... acquaintance... nothing more."

"That's great!" He said, nodding. "I have a bigger house. You can stay in mine."

Oh my God. He's a flirt. A playboy. I encountered too many men like him when I started modelling.

"Okay. I'll remember that." I went out of the pool and Manuel put the robe on my shoulders.

"My... my... my... you're smokin' hot!" His eyes sparkled and roamed over my body like an excited boy
seeing a new toy, unembarrassed.

Ugh! He's a sex maniac.

"I can put sun lotion on your back."

"Silly. There's no sun anymore." My eyes rolled.

He laughed. "It's really silly. It's just an excuse. I just want to touch you."

"Oh! That's so fast, mister."

"Yeah. I can do faster and harder." His finger touched my chin in a soft caress.

What a jerk!

"You need to cool off. Want to take a swim?"

He looked at the pool then back at me. "Sure. I love to. I'll just get my swimming trunks in the car."

"You mean... you bring your trunks all the time?"

"Yeah. I'm always ready."

I wondered what a playboy like him brought all the time? Aside from trunks, probably some extra shirts
and jeans, suits for romantic dinner, condoms, sex toys, etc.

He came back wearing trunks already. He also had a bottle of champagne, two flute glasses and a plate of
sandwiches with him.

Manuel was a gorgeous handsome man, just like Xander. Tall, lean and muscular. Dark jet hair and ocean
blue eyes. Just like a supermodel. But a certified player.

We talked about Colombia. He said he never had a Colombian girlfriend before. He asked if I was
interested to apply.

"No. I'm not interested." I laughed. He was funny and his pick up lines were old school.

"Tell me Lily." He whispered. "Do you spit or swallow?"

"What!" I was shocked. I knew what he mean by that. This man is a real fuck boy. A douche!

"Never mind. I didn't mean to ask you that. You look like a good girl." He laughed. "How would you like
to go out on a date with me?"

Butthead!

"I'm engaged. See this ring?" I showed him my engagement ring and his eyes popped out.

"What? You're engaged! I didn't notice it."

I laughed hard and he laughed too. We were both laughing when we heard Xander barked at us.

"What's going on in here!"

Xander's POV

I saw Mia's body jolted. Her eyes widened. Manuel was just eyeing at me like I was a pest. He was not
disturbed by my presence at all.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Manuel. He stood up and filled his glass with champagne.

"I was looking for you and you were out. So Lily and I are having fun. You see, she's bored. Nobody's
entertaining her. You should be grateful that I came here making her comfortable in your own home."

"Bullshit, Manuel! Get out of here before I'll forget that you're my brother." I clenched my fist, preventing
myself from losing my temper.

"Hey... hey... what's wrong with you man." He was provoking me by putting his arm around Mia's
shoulders.

"Don't touch her!" I snapped at him. The jealousy I felt was replaced with massive volcanic anger. "I
swear to God..." I moved closer to them, my fist was ready to hit Manuel's face.

Manuel instantly removed his arm around Mia and held his hands up in front of him. "Chill bro! Why are
you so upset? Lily is not your girlfriend."

"She is NOT Lily. She's Mia, for God's sake!"

Manuel laughed. "You're joking right?" He eyed Mia, then looked back at me.

"I'm not. She is Mia."

Manuel looked at Mia again. His eyes roaming her body, then glued at her face. "Shit! Is that you Mia?"

Mia shrugged her shoulders. Manuel rubbed his eyes and stared at Mia again. "Holy shit! You look
different. You even have a Colombian accent.... wait... are you sure..?"

"Sorry." Mia answered.

"You fooled me! I never thought you have a gorgeous body Mia. You look so hot!" His eyes travelled
down her body again. "If only I knew..."

"Shut up, Manuel. She doesn't remember you." I put the robe on Mia's shoulder, helping her put it on,
then I tied the sash around her slim waist - covering her from Manuel's flirtatious gazes. This moment
was the few times I hated Manuel. He was my brother but I was not proud of him for being a super
player. Women were his weakness.

"Why? What's wrong? Why can't you remember me?"

"Not only you, Manuel. Don't flatter yourself. She has an amnesia. She can't remember everything that
happened in the past."

"Ah... so you can't remember our little secret." Manuel winked at Mia.

"What secret?" I asked Manuel, then looked at Mia. "What little secret?"

"Big bro, I can't tell you. That's why it's called a secret." He grinned.

"Don't mess up with me, Manuel or you'll be sorry." I was numbed with increasing rage.

"Hey! Cool down. I'm just teasing you. You're too serious bro." Manuel laughed. "I should go now before
I'll get a black eye. I'll see you in the office tomorrow, bro." He patted my shoulder. "Bye Lily... um Mia."

"Bye Manuel." Mia waved at him.

"Too bad, I thought I'm going to have a Colombian girlfriend." Manuel murmured on his way out.

Mia laughed.

Dammit! I didn't find it funny at all.

***

"You're not eating."

I was observing Mia, toying the carbonara with her fork.

"What is this? I don't like it much. Did I eat this before?"

The question caught me off guard. I was not sure what Mia likes and dislikes in food. We never discussed
about it. She cooked our food at home, and mostly my favourite dishes. She ate anything on the table but I
didn't know any particular dish she loved most. Now, I was surprised that she didn't like Carbonara.

"It's Carbonara. Yeah, we ate a lot of it before." I enjoyed pasta and Carbonara was one of my favourite.
We ordered it several times in Italian restaurants. "Try the pork adobo. It's very delicious."

"No thanks. I don't eat fatty food."

"What do you want to eat?" I asked her.

"Nothing. I lost my appetite."

That made me stop eating. She had to eat something or else she would get sick. "I'll get you something
else."

"No, it's okay. I'm good."

"No, you're not Mia. You're not leaving the table unless you eat, okay?" I stood up to go to the kitchen.
"What do you want?"

"Plain sandwich and vegetable salad."

I was glad that Mia ate the food I prepared for her. I could see that she was enjoying the food.

"Mia.."

"Yes?" She took a big bite of her sandwich, then looked at me.

"You're using our bedroom. You see.. it's my bedroom too. If you don't mind, us... I mean.. you and me
sharing the same room.... but if you're not comfortable, well... I can move to the guest room."

"No. It's okay. We can share the room." She said casually, like she was just talking about the weather. I
was really surprised. I thought she's going to kick me out of the bed... and the room later.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I need someone to sleep with me in a room. Carmen used to do that. I have nightmares and
seizures before. But still, I have to be cautious."

"Don't worry Mia. I'll take good care of you. Tomorrow, we'll see your doctor, okay?"

She nodded and continued eating her salad.

Later, we were in our bedroom. I was drooling like a teenage boy staring at Mia. She was wearing a very
provocative lace satin black nighties. Her long blond hair cascading down her shoulders and lovely
breasts in soft waves. Her flawless tanned legs inviting to be touched. Her newly washed face looked so
soft and her pinkish lips ready to be kissed.

Dammit! I was so aroused. My body hardened and I was ready to explode. I took a long cold shower to
relieve of the ache I felt. When I went out of the bathroom, Mia was already asleep.
I settled on the couch.

I was disappointed when she said that I would sleep on the couch. I thought I was lucky to share the bed
with her.

I woke up in the middle of the night. Mia was restless. She was murmuring. Words that I couldn't
understand. Maybe she had seizures.

I sat down on the bed and woke her up.

"Mia. Are you alright?"

Her eyes opened immediately, staring at me blankly. "Xander?"

"Are you okay? You're having a nightmare?"

She hugged me.

I was surprised and my body reacted immediately. Ignited like fire.

"Xander please, don't leave me." Her arms tightened around my waist. I felt her breasts crushed against
my chest.

"I won't. Promise Mia, I won't ever leave you." All my defences were weakening. Waves of ecstasy
throbbed through me and involuntary tremors of arousal began.

I didn't know who initiated first, but we were kissing hungrily and deeply with burning desire.

"I miss you so much, Mia." I said in between kisses. I was starving for her and it was so hard to stop
kissing, touching and loving her. I kissed her throat and licked the sensitive area behind her ear.

"I miss you too, Xander."

Her hands were running deliciously on my hair then down on my back, exploring. My skin prickled with
the heat of her touch. Everything about her was divine ecstasy.

"I miss doing this." Mia moaned.

I stopped. "Do you remember us making love?"

"Yeah. We used to make love at dawn."

"Yeah.. yeah.. Oh Mia..." I was so delighted that finally Mia could remember something that happened in
the past. Our past.

I cupped her breast, massaging and squeezing. My thumb rolling her nipple.

"Oh... I love that."

"Yes, and this." Like a hungry animal, I licked and suckled her breast then doing the same to the other.

"I'm sorry Mia. I can't take it slow... " The pleasure was pure and explosive and I needed the release so
badly. I was about to stand up but her arms clung around my neck.

"Where are you going?"

"I'll just get some rubber in the bathroom. I'll be very quick. Promise." I kissed her lips again then stood
up.

"Okay..." She murmured.

I was in the bathroom, pulling all the drawers open in a hurry. Dammit! I don't have any rubber here!

I scanned the medicine cabinet. Finally, I saw one.

I went back in the bedroom and saw Mia already sleeping. I lay down beside here and started kissing her
cheek, down to her neck.

She stirred, then looked at me.

Her eyes widened and immediately pushed me away.

"Aaahhhh!!! Don't touch me, you maniac! Stay away from me!" She shouted.

Invitation To Sin

By: Neilani Alejandrino a.k.a. sweetdreamer33

Rachel fell madly in love with Ares Niarchos when she was eighteen. She thought he was her future... her
forever. Despite others saying Ares would never even notice a low-class girl like her, she refused to
listen. For her, Ares was different. He was a real prince charming, a perfect guy with a beautiful heart.

What happened when she finally realized that Ares was not prince charming material... and in fact the
exact opposite of the man she thought he was?

"One of the best feelings in the world is when you hug someone you love, and they hug you back even
tighter." - Love Quotes Images app

Xander's POV
"We went to her doctor the other day. Her MRI result was normal and also her EEG. The doctor said she's
fine but she needs more time to recover. She suffered severe depression that causes her memory loss."

"Really? I don't know that there's such thing as that." My brother Franco said. We just finished our
business meeting with the Italian investors.

"There is. A condition called dissociative amnesia."

"Well, good luck brother. I know this is hard for you."

"It is. It breaks my heart seeing her this way. She became a totally different person. So daring and
outspoken. She even loves to provoke me, testing my patience."

Franco laughed. "Did you ever think that she's just acting?"

"What do you mean?"

"Like she's not having an amnesia at all. She's just pretending to forget everything. You in particular."

The thought made me stop for a while. "For what reason?"

"Hmm... maybe to get back at you?"

"What for? I haven't done anything to hurt her."

"Are you sure?"

"I never stop loving her, she's everything to me. I showed her all my love and I know it was enough."

"What if..."

"Stop it, Franco. I know Mia, she's not like that."

"Okay fine." Franco looked at his watch. "Come on. It's time to join the men. Manuel have the hotel bar
closed for us tonight. Time to celebrate the deal, man."

"No, I'm going home. I can't leave Mia alone."

Franco chuckled. "Whoah! Is that you talking Xander? You used to leave Mia alone in the house on
weekends. She'll be fine with it."

"I can't. Not anymore."

"Why, because she's different now?"

"No. Not just that."

"I think you're worried with her personality change. But think of it man, she's still Mia. She usually
understands you. She always does. The sweet, understanding, caring and submissive Mia. She just lost
her memories, but still, she's the same."

"NO." I shook my head and leaned my back on my chair. "I love her and I want to be with her as soon as I
can. You don't know how I feel working my ass here, trying to concentrate on the business but my mind
won't stop thinking of her. I'm worried about her. I want to know what she's doing, what she's thinking
and what she's feeling."

Franco looked at me strangely. "Damn, man. That's serious."

"Yeah. I'm afraid of losing her again. I want to make up for the things I've done to her. To make a fresh
start."

"Okay. If that's what you want." He exhaled heavily.

"Thanks, bro."

"You're lucky that she has an amnesia. She can't remember the way you behaved before." Franco stood up
and left the room.

***

"Where is she?"

"I don't know sir." Betty, my housekeeper said.

I was in a hurry to go home to take Mia out for dinner. I was so disappointed when I learned that she was
not home when I arrived.

"Damn it. Why didn't you ask her? What time did she left?" I put the bouquet of red roses and box of
chocolates I brought for her on the center table.

"Around ten in the morning."

I looked at my watch. It was six in the evening already. She was gone for eight hours! Where the hell is
she?

I called her phone but it was busy. Dammit.

I had a sudden ill feeling inside me. I was nervous as hell. My heart was pounding so fast and my pulses
were in riot.

I ran upstairs to our room and checked her wardrobe. My suspicion was right. Most of her clothes were
missing. The luggage she used when she arrived here was gone too.

Oh God!

My world suddenly crumbled down. I felt shattered, body and soul. Mia left me again.

No... NO....

I called her again, but still her phone was busy.

I have to find her.

I rushed downstairs and took my Ferrari. I didn't know actually where to go. The first thing that came
across my mind was there family house in San Bernardino. It was about one and a half hours drive there
but I had no choice but to go and find out if Mia was there.

I called three times, but her phone couldn't be reached. Where is she?

I arrived in San Bernardino in an hour. I had never driven a car so fast in my life. I was desperate to find
Mia. My phone rang when I turned the car to the curb where Mia's family house was located. It was my
housekeeper, Betty.

"She's back sir."

I was upset and yet, relieved. The feeling of happiness overpowered within me. She was back and that
matters most. I didn't give a damn if I've driven the whole night, as long as she was back.

"Okay. I'll be back as soon as I can." I said to Betty then turned the car back to Beverly Hills.

***

Mia was watching TV and eating the box of chocolates I brought for her when I arrived. The bouquet of
roses was on the table in front of her.

She was sprawled on a couch wearing a skimpy worn out denim shorts and a red top. She looked so pretty
and very sexy sitting there comfortably. Her hair was in a mess bun and a smudge on her red lipstick.

She was so engrossed watching the TV. I wondered what she was watching.

I entered the TV room and sat beside her. She hardly noticed me. Her eyes were fixed on the TV screen.
It was a Zombie TV series.

I never knew that she liked watching Zombies. This surprised me. We used to watch TV series before.
Mostly my favorites. Game of Thrones, Hawaii Five-O and Person of Interest. I realized, she just watched
what I wanted. Or maybe because I never bothered at all to ask her what she preferred to watch.

"Hi." I said to Mia when the TV was playing ads.

"Hi. You're home late. Sorry, I had my dinner already."

I smiled. If only you knew where I went Mia.

"Did you enjoy your day?" I asked her, trying to sound so calm. It was hard though since all parts of my
body wanted to yell at her, to ask where the hell she went. She made me so worried of her. I thought I
would have a heart attack of being so frantic. I didn't even know where to find her. The thought of losing
her again was so frightening.

"Yeah, I did."

"That's great. Where have you been?"

"In the neighborhood."

That made me stop. "Particularly where in the neighborhood?"

"In the women's shelter at the end of the road. I saw it when we went to the doctor the other day. I
donated my old clothes there."

I was surprised. Now, that explained why many of her clothes were gone. I was totally relieved.

"I pitied the women there. They are victims of abuse and homeless. I don't want to be one of them." She
shook her head.

"Of course not. I won't allow that to happen. I'll take care of you, Mia and I won't hurt you. Ever."

"Physically?"

"Yeah. Physically."

She heaved a sigh. "What about emotionally."

"Um... yeah. That too."

"And mentally."
"Of course." I held her hand, my thumb caressing her knuckles. "I promise you Mia, I'll never hurt you.
I'll make you so happy. Please. Let's start all over again. I love you so much, Mia. I never stopped loving
you."

She was staring at me blankly, then slowly she pulled her hand away. "Sorry Xander. I'm engaged."

"No. I won't let you marry that douchebag telenovela actor. I'll fight tooth and nail for you Mia. I swear."

"I love Dylan."

"No. You don't love him. It's me you love."

"How could you say that! I forgot all about you."

"Because you have amnesia. Once you'll recover, everything will be back to normal. You will love me
again."

"It's my brain who has an amnesia, not my HEART." She stood up and stormed out of the TV room.

Mia's POV

I went to the bathroom in a rush. I couldn't help myself but cry.

I hate you, Xander. And I hate myself so much.

He said he never stopped loving me. Oh God. I never stopped loving him too. I ran away, a thousand
miles just to forget him. But still, he was always in my mind and in my heart.

Seeing him again was heartbreaking. I realized how much I missed him and I still loved him so much.
That moment, I wanted to throw my arms around him and kiss him desperately. With him, it was like
coming home.

But, he was not a good man for me. He hurt me so badly. My brother, Tristan was right. He was a
Casanova. Girls were like ants crawling on him like a picnic basket.

I shouldn't have come back and I shouldn't have pretended... to have an amnesia.

"Every girl deserves a guy who looks at her every day like it's the first time he saw her." -
LikeLoveQuotes.com

Mia's POV

"Come home. For God's sake. What the hell are you doing back in that man's house? I thought you're over
him." My brother, Tristan was upset. He arrived in California this morning and was disappointed that he
didn't find me in our family home in San Bernardino.

"I'll go home. Just give me time." I almost pleaded.

"Time? You went all the way to Colombia to fix your life and now you're running back at him again. Use
your common sense, Mia."

Tristan had a reason to get upset. I was a mess actually. I asked him for help to hide in Colombia, away
from Xander so I could forget him easily and move on with my life. He was even more upset when I
changed my personality and appearance. He said I went overboard in changing my whole identity. We
even argued when I took the job as a bikini model.

"I just want to find out if he've changed."

"He won't change. He still hangs out with the same friends. Throwing wild illegal parties. Taking too
much alcohol. Hooking up with Russian whores and starlets. Just like his brothers."

I didn't want to argue with Tristan. I wouldn't win anyway.

"I know, Tristan. I'm not forgetting that."

"And what's that about the Amnesia thing? Carmen told me. I understand about your fictitious name as
Lily Rojas for your modelling career and yes, for Valiente not to find you, but pretending to lose your
mind is too much!"
"I'm sorry. I'm doing this for a reason... and please don't ask me what it is... just support me into this.
That's all I could ever ask you right now."

I could hear Tristan exhaled heavily over the phone. "Okay, fine. I won't ask. You're a big girl now, Mia.
Whatever it is that you're planning... just make sure that you're doing it for your own good."

"Yeah. Don't worry."

"I don't want you to get hurt again."

"I know big brother."

"So when are you coming home?" He asked again.

"I'll be home in two weeks time."

"Okay. Take care of yourself." He said before he hung up.

Xander's POV

"You don't need a job. I can provide you with anything you want." I was so upset. I was running out of
patience already. I couldn't pretend to be calm anymore. Mia signed a contract with a bikini modeling
agency without even consulting me.

"I'm here with you because you want to help me recover for three weeks. And now, you're acting like a
desperate husband."

"You made me, for heaven's sake. You're not going anywhere until you're fully recovered and YOU will
not work, Mia. Just name what you want and I'll give it to you. If money concerns you, we'll go to the
bank tomorrow so we can apply an extension of my debit card for you."

"I don't need your money. I can earn it. You can't dictate me what I want to do with my life because
there's nothing between us, you're my ex. In two weeks time, I'm going home to my family in San
Bernardino. Then next month, I'm going to marry the love of my life, Dylan."

Dammit!

I felt like I was at the end of the road. Mia was strong willed, opinionated and hard headed. She was not
like this before. Where was the soft spoken, submissive and shy Mia I knew? If she would go home in
two weeks, the chances of getting her back would be so slim.
I courted her, giving her roses and chocolates everyday. I took her to a romantic restaurant and gave her
love notes and messages. But it looked like there was no effect on her. She became more elusive.
Everytime I said 'I love you' to her, she pretended not to hear it. I had a feeling that she didn't believe
every word I said and every romantic gesture I made. It was becoming more and more difficult to charm
her and I was becoming so desperate.

"You can't marry him. I won't allow that to happen." I clenched my teeth, controlling my anger.

"You can't stop me."

"I will, Mia. I love you. And I know, deep inside of you, you still love me."

She stopped and looked at me intently. "I'm not. Please... stop saying you love me. I'm an engaged
woman."

Something about what she said gave me hope.

"Yeah, you're right." I said.

"At last you're agreeing with me."

"You're engaged. To me. We did not break up and technically our engagement was not broken. So, it's
still on."

"Are you crazy?"

"Yeah. You made me." I said, desperately. If I couldn't get her through charms, then I would get her in
any means I could.

"I can't be engaged to two men."

"Then break your engagement with him. I got you first."

"What is this, first come first serve? That's cruel."

"Think whatever you want but you can't take me out of the picture. I'm going to fight for you Mia."

"I will hate you for this Xander."

"Then hate me. I can stand that rather than losing you."

***

The topic about the modelling contract that Mia signed was brought up again the following day and it
brought more tension between us.

"I can give you the money that you'll be earning for years. You don't have to work. Just stay here in the
house. Relax and enjoy."

She looked at me with distaste, then her eyebrows furrowed. "Relax and enjoy? That's a very boring job.
What do you want me to do, learn to cook, gardening, watching TV, surf the internet, read books, laze at
the poolside and wait for you to arrive?"

"Yeah. That's what you did before and you never complained."

"Oh God. So I lived a boring life. No wonder I left you."

Her statement really hit a nerve. I remembered Mia asked me before if she could find work to occupy her
day, but I told her that she didn't need a job, because her job was to stay home and take care of my needs.

"What?" Dammit. How could she misinterpreted my concern for her.

"You treated me like a mistress."

"Of course not. We treated each other as partners, equals."

"Oh, really! I didn't have much freedom right?"

"Of course you have. We're so happy together and in love. We couldn't even wait to get married. I
proposed to you. I gave you a ring."

She nodded. "I think I have the ring."

That was a relief. The ring was a heirloom, from my grandmother, Emily Lawrence Valiente.

"So what do you think is the reason why I left you?"

I put my hands in my pants pocket and leaned my shoulder at the wall. "A few weeks before our wedding,
you've been so edgy. You had pre-wedding jitters."

"I did? Maybe I was hesitant in marrying you."

"I don't think so. But I have a feeling that your brother's disapproval of our relationship was the main
cause."

"My brother Tristan."

I nodded. "He disliked me from the start."

"Why?"
"Maybe because of my friends."

"I see." She shrugged her shoulders. But I knew she didn't see my point. I have to explain further so she
would understand.

"We threw wild parties when I was younger. You know, what single guys do. But I had enough of it, Mia.
When we were together, I changed already."

"Really? So how do you explain this?" She took her phone, scanned it for a while then showed me a
picture. "I saw it in the internet last night and was taken a year ago."

The picture was me at the deck of Manuel's yacht. My arms were around the shoulders of two half naked
Russian hookers. Both girls were kissing my cheek.

Where did Mia get this picture?

I remembered what happened that afternoon. I was dead drunk. Manuel tricked me in a poker drinking
game. I was not supposed to attend his birthday party but literally, he kidnapped me. I was surprised when
I found myself inside his yacht. He even took my phone and wallet. I was not able to tell Mia where I
was.

I never bothered to tell Mia about it when I went home the following day. I thought that it was for the best
that she wouldn't know about it. The wedding was coming up and things like that could stress her out.

And now, I realized. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my whole life.

"Trust takes years to build, seconds to break and forever to repair." - http://stylopics.com/trust-quotes

Mia's POV

"He'll never changed." I felt the screams of frustration at the back of my throat.

"That makes him a real asshole. I don't like the idea that he's treating you like his possession. You're
human for God's sake and you're free to do what you want." The person at the other line said angrily.

"It's always what he wants NOT what I want. I feel like a kid that can't decide for myself."

"He's selfish, controlling. Tonto! He should respect your decisions."

"But he keeps on saying that he loves me."

"Being in love is not enough. There should be respect, trust, loyalty and honesty. Communication and
commitment is very important too. In his case, all the mathematical formula of a perfect relationship is
missing."

"What am I gonna do?"

"Hmm... let's figure it out later. I'll call you back. Mikael is here."

"Ooopss, sorry. Give my love to him."

"Sure. Take care of yourself, mi amor."

"Bye, love you, Dylan."

That's right. Dylan was my accomplice. Everything was pure acting.

Dylan and I became best of friends and shared our problems. We pretended to be engaged to help him
conceal his homosexuality from the press. I needed the fake engagement also so Xander would find me. It
was a year already but still I haven't moved on. I wanted to see him to know if I still feel the same way.

Too bad. I still feel so strongly for him.

I saw Xander coming back in the car, carrying a paper bag. I asked him to go inside 7-Eleven to buy me
three packs of sanitary napkins. I had my period and I intentionally didn't bring any spare with me. I
wanted to test his patience.

"I also bought some chocolates and nuts. The cashier said that it's good when you're menstruating."
Xander said. "You should eat bananas to avoid muscle cramps."

"You actually asked the cashier about that?"

"Of course." He gave me a boyish smile that made my heart flipped.

I wanted to go shopping, alone. But he insisted on accompany me. So, fine! Let's see if he can bear
following me around the mall.

It took me an hour to decide what lipstick to buy.

"Why not buy everything?" Xander whispered behind me.

"I'm not wasting my money buying all that colors."

"It's very cheap, Mia. I'll pay for it."

"No. I have my own money. I can buy whatever I want. I don't need a sugar daddy. If you have no
patience then go home." I faced him, giving him the 'I told you so' look.

"I'm not leaving you. I'll stay here no matter how long you'll shop." He put his hands on his pants
pockets then rocked back on his heels.

"Okay." I lifted my chin and faced the saleslady again. "I'll take the Posie K, Coco K and Mary Jo."

I shopped for five hours and Xander was following me all along. I bought a lot of stuffs, dresses, shoes,
more makeups, makeup organizers, bags and others. He insisted to pay everything... so I let him. I bought
even more.

He carried all the boxes and shopping bags I bought. He almost tripped at the escalator. But he never
complained. Not even a sign of impatience or irritation.

Later that evening, we went to a Japanese restaurant. I knew Xander really hated sushi, especially raw
fish and wasabi. I took the liberty to order our meal - I ordered California maki, Salmon Nigiri sushi and
sashimi.

"I can't eat these." Xander's brows drew together in a worried expression.

"You can do it." I put a wasabi on top of a raw fish and took it using chopsticks. "I love a man who eats
sashimi and wasabi." I said flirtatiously and put the food in his mouth.

He coughed and gagged. His face was burning red. He grabbed a glass of water and drank heartily.
"Oh! Sorry. Never mind. We'll just order another dish." I said disappointedly, slumping my shoulders.

"No... no. I can eat this." He insisted.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course. Anything for you, Mia." He forced a smile.

"Well... that's good. Hmm... maybe we can talk about us later?"

His face brightened and pulled the sashimi dish closer to him. "I would definitely love that."

Xander ate all the sashimi with wasabi. He struggled chewing it, gagging, coughing and drinking too
much water. I told him that that was enough, but he wouldn't stop.

When we arrived home, he threw up.

I felt bad of myself. I shouldn't have made him eat that. Two or three slices of sashimi should have been
enough. I forgot he was a very proud man. He wouldn't say NO to a challenge.

Xander's POV

I woke up feeling sick. I wanted to throw up again.

The lights were on and I was surprised to see Mia already dressed.

"Where are you going?" I sat down abruptly on the couch, where I've been sleeping since we got home.

"I have a photoshoot today." She said, dragging her luggage.

I looked at the wall clock. It was still four in the morning. What the hell! Who do photoshoots at this
hour. It's too early. She never even mentioned a photoshoot last night. She just signed the contract.

"I'll go with you." I stood up and fixed my messy hair.

"Don't worry, I can manage. I'll take a cab. Just go back to sleep. You look sick." She said firmly with her
hands on her slim hips. She looked so cute and sexy in her off shouldered white sweater and denim short
shorts.
"No. I'm fine. I'll just take a bath."

She looked at her wrist watch. "There's no time. I'm going to be late."

"Okay... okay. I'll just change clothes."

"Hurry up." She said and went out of the bedroom.

I grabbed my jeans and shirt, changing clothes in a hurry. I went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth
whiled I peed. Then I rinsed my mouth and washed my face at the same time.

"Let's go!" Mia shouted outside.

I forgot I had an important business meeting in the morning. Franco and Manuel was upset. The business
deal with an investor from India didn't turn up well. I was the one who could explain the business
proposal better. And now, the investor hesitated to close the deal. I just wished I could do something
about it when I get back.

I couldn't just leave Mia here. We were in a beach resort hotel, two hours away from the city. Besides, she
was wearing a skimpy bikini surrounded with half naked male models. I couldn't believe why she
accepted a modelling contract like this. It was very upsetting on my part. Especially with that ash blond
guy who wouldn't leave her side and kept on staring at her. One wrong move and I was ready to smack
him down.

We transferred from one spot to another in the beach. I carried her things for her. Her luggage, her water,
her hat, her umbrella, her robe, her towel and others. She had her shoot the whole morning. The heat of
the sun made my head hurt terribly. Damn it. I'm going to get sick.

"Are you okay?" A waiter asked me, frowning. "You are flushing."

"I'm not. Do you have some lemon water and Tylenol."

"Yeah. I'll get you." He said and left. He came back bringing the medicine. I felt much better in a few
minutes.

"You're lucky you work as her bodyguard. She's very pretty." The same waiter said when he passed by
my side.

"I'm not a bodyguard." I gritted my teeth. "I'm her fiancé."

"Oops. Sorry sir. I thought..."

I dismissed him with a wave of my hand.

Mia finished her shoot in the afternoon. I was relieved that finally we could go home.

I was driving feeling drowsy. I felt terrible, I wanted to crawl on the bed. But I pretended to be fine,
struggling to keep my eyes open and focused on the road. I listened to Mia, talking about the people and
the beach. She was in a very festive mood. Singing and dancing in the car. Then she turned the speakers'
volume up. The very loud music of Chainsmokers 'Closer' made my head hurt more.

Chapter Fourteen (Unedited)

"If I could have just one wish, I would wish to wake up everyday to the sound of your breath on my neck,
the warmth of your lips on my cheek, the touch of your fingers on my skin, and the feel of your heart
beating with mine knowing that I could never find that feeling with anyone other than you." ~ Courtney
Kuchta

Mia's POV

"You're torturing him. I don't think he deserved what you're doing to him." Carmen said. I called her to
check how she and Eduardo were doing. They were together now and so much in love.

"I don't think so. I believe I'm doing the right thing. He hurt me so bad before."

"So you're hurting him back. Does it make you happy seeing him suffer? He was in the hospital for a
week suffering indigestion and heatstroke." I heard Carmen heaved a sigh.

I became silent. I didn't know what to say. I admit, I found it funny at first seeing Xander tried to eat
sashimi with wasabi. But in the long run, I didn't like it. I pitied him.

"Tell him the truth before it's too late. I was so wrong for me to play along with you. Eduardo made me
realise that."

"I'm sorry Carmen for involving you into this. I thought it was for the best."

"Oh dear, you're lying to him. Tell him when he comes back."

Xander was in New York to attend the wedding of Eros Petrakis and Jade Collins. He wanted me to go
with him but I decided not to. Tristan and Stella would be there. I was not ready to face them.
"I'll think about it." I said.

"Just do it, Mia. If you really love him, tell him the truth while you can still save your relationship with
him."

"I'm afraid he'll get mad at me." A pain squeezed my heart thinking of his reaction.

"It's the consequence you have to face."

What Carmen said made me feel so bad. What if Xander won't forgive me?

***

"Mia? Is that you?"

I was in the pool reading a book when Xander arrived the following day. He had been gone for four days.
I was so bored at home waiting for him to come home. I regretted not going with him in New York. I
could just stayed in the hotel while he attended the wedding and doing business meetings.

My dying spirit came alive when I heard his voice.

"Of course." I turned to him, smiling.

"You're back to black." His eyes glowed.

"Do you like it?" I ran my hand through my hair. I dyed my hair black the other day.

"I love it. You look so beautiful. Exactly the Mia that I love." His eyes searched my face, reaching into
my thoughts. "Did you miss me?"

I looked up, pretended thinking. The tips of my fingers on my temple. "Um... yeah."

He chuckled. "Come here, baby. I miss you so much. Give me a hug."

I jumped out of the chair and ran to him. I didn't care anymore. I just followed my heart.

He dropped his bags on the floor to lift me up in his arms. My arms went around his neck, hugging him.
The delicious feeling when my body sliding down against his when he put me down.

"If I have known I would be greeted like this, I should have catch the earliest flight." His lips immediately
came down and captured mine, kissing me intimately.
"I miss you too." I said between kisses.

"Oh God. I've been missing you for a long time, baby. You don't know how much." He murmured.

I gasped at the driving force of his kiss. Fierce flare of yearning immediately ran through me. I wanted
him so badly, right here, right now.

Everything was so sudden. He put me down and dragged me upstairs to our room.

Warning!!!

Enter at your own risk.

Once the door closed, we landed on the bed. His greedy mouth took possession of my lips again searing a
path to my jaw, behind my ears and down to my neck. The feel of his erection bumping against my thigh
set me aflame.

He flicked the front buttons of my blouse one by one, revealing my black lacy bra cupped. I moaned with
intense pleasure when he pushed my bra down and lovingly attacked my breasts. The feel of his male lips
and tongue flicking my nipples made me lost my senses.

"Xander..." I moaned, running my hands through his hair down to his back.

His hand touched my belly and slowly seared a path inside my shorts. I stopped his hand, holding it tight.

He stopped and kissed me deeply. I draped my arms around his neck, responding to him with equal
fervour.

I gasped when I felt his fingers touched the core of my arousal. Rubbing and entering inside me slowly.
My eyes slid shut in ecstasy as his fingers drove between my thighs. I was breathless.

"I'm sorry baby, I can't hold on anymore. I promise, I'll go slower the second time."

I nodded. I was dazed and I didn't know what he mean. I just wanted him to continue what he was doing
to me.
He stood up and removed his clothes in a hurry, showing his handsome, hypnotic and powerful body. Oh
God... he made me on fire...

He removed my clothes and immediately positioned between my thighs, kissing me again with carnal
craving.

"I love you so much, Mia. Living without you was purely hell." He murmured. His eyes so magnetic and
compelling.

"I love you too, Xander. I never stopped loving you."

He opened my thighs wider and slowly entered himself into my sweet heat. My body closed tightly
around him, straddling my legs to his hips as he drove inside me harder and faster. I matched his rhythm
and together we rode to ecstasy.

We made love twice after that. In the shower and on bed before we slept. At dawn, Xander woke me up
with a lingering kiss and immediately it led us to making love again.

"I missed this. Kissing and making love at dawn." I said.

He smiled and rained kisses on my neck. "Did you miss me?"

"Of course. I loomed over him and kissed his cheek. I miss everything about you."

"Really? That is hard to believe. Specifically what?"

"Your facial expressions."

"Ha-ha."

"Yeah. I could tell your mood if you're happy, bothered or disappointed. Sometimes you just sit there
brooding. I kept on wondering what you were thinking."

"About the business and mostly things involving you." He gave me a teasing smile.

"Really? Like what?"

"Like taking you to a long holiday. How about skiing in France?" He kissed me again.

"No way! Remember when I sprained my ankle and I stayed on bed for two days. That was a terrible
vacation."

"Yeah. I blamed myself for forcing you into it." He leaned back on the bed, his arm on his head.

"No, don't blame yourself. I had a great time though."

***

I woke up early the following morning. I cooked Xander's favorite breakfast. Waffle with flax and
almond butter, scrambled egg with no salt, crisp bacon and fresh fruit salad.

Xander was silent when he came down that morning. He looked at the food then sat down behind the
table and ate his breakfast. I was surprised of his change of attitude. He became so cold and aloof.

"You okay?" I asked him

He nodded and we ate together silently.

"What's going on?" I asked him when he was done eating. "Is there something bothering you?"

He leaned back on his chair and glared at me, giving me a murderous look. "You're a lying bitch. You
have me fooled all along. YOU. DON'T. HAVE. AN. AMNESIA!"

Chapter Fifteen [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter Fifteen (Unedited)

--Kindly put your Playlist here--

"I fell in love with her when we were together, then fell deeper in love with her in the years we were
apart." - Nicholas Sparks, Dear John

Xander's POV

"It's been a week, Xander. Swallow your pride and follow your heart. You won't be happy if you won't
take my advice. Go to her before you regret your decision." My sister Stella visited me at home.
"It's not that easy, Stella. She lied to me."

"I'm sure she has her reasons. You two should talk and settle things instead of being miserable. You love
each other."

I took a big gulp of my cold beer and leaned back at the pool chaise lounge.

"Mia's miserable right now." Stella continued.

"Really?" I chuckled. "She should be. After what she did to me."

Stella rolled her eyes and crossed her legs together. She was sitting on a chair beside me. "Tristan said she
locks herself in her room. She's always crying and not eating. Tristan is so worried of her. She's slowly
killing herself!"

"What?" That made me sat up.

Damn Mia. My concern for her overpowered my anger. I was alarmed that she was not taking care of
herself.

"Go to her before something bad happens to her. Sometimes I think she's kind of... suicidal."

"No. She's not."

"How can you be sure? She's hurting so much and she's acting like there's no reason for her to live
anymore."

Dammit! Curses fell from my mouth.

"You have to gather yourself and control your emotions, Xander. Please... settle your personal problem."

"Okay, I will. I'll talk to Mia, as soon possible."

"Thanks God. You still love her, right?" Stella stood up and grabbed her bag, getting ready to go.

"Yeah. That's the problem. I can't stop loving her."

"So, what are you waiting for? Go to her!"

****
It was evening when I arrived at San Bernardino, where Mia's family house was located. Mia's half
brother, Kobe Latsis and his girlfriend, Sapphire Collins invited me in their house.

"Mia's not her. Did you inform her that you're coming?" Kobe asked.

"No. I wanted to surprise her."

"Wow. That's so sweet." Sapphire giggled. "Too bad, she went out with a friend."

"A friend? Who?" I asked curiously. I thought she locked herself in her room.

"The telenovela actor." Kobe said.

My temper immediately flared. Fucking Shit! I wasted my time coming here.

"But it's not a date." Sapphire said, looking at Kobe. "Right?"

"No. No. NO. It's not. Definitely not. It's just a friendly... umm... catching up."

Liars. These two made me look stupid.

"I'm going now." I said, moving out of the door. There was no point of staying anymore.

Mad. Disappointed. Tired. Hungry.

I came here to talk to her hoping that we could patch up our differences. All the while she was seeing that
narcissistic telenovela actor again.

"Come on man, lets have some beer and pizza. Saph texted Mia already. She's coming home." Kobe said.

***

Mia arrived after I had four bottles of beer. She didn't look pale, thin or depress. In fact, she looked
healthier and blooming. Contrary to what Stella said. I was miserable and all the while she was dating and
having a good time.

What the hell! I shouldn't have waited.

Two men were standing behind her. The telenovela actor and another guy who looked like his bodyguard.

"What are you doing here?" Mia gave me a cold stare.

"That's also the question I wanted to ask myself. I'm leaving. It's a mistake coming here." My attention
focused at the telenovela actor and said in my very sarcastic tone. "Congrats, you won. I wish you both
happiness." I immediately spun around and leave.

"Wait!" Mia almost shouted, following me. "Xander, it's not what you think."

"I shouldn't have come." I stopped walking and turned to her." I thought you're miserable and all the
while you're dating!" I was breathless with rage.

"Can we at least talk and let me explain?" She said behind me.

"Ha! You already made a fool of me, Mia. What lie are you going to tell me this time? That you're not
dating him?" I pointed at the guy in the living room.

"Stop it." She hissed. "Dylan is my friend. He's not my fiancé."

"I said stop lying." I looked at the telenovela actor who was coming near us.

"You see, Mr. Valiente... ah... Xander. Can I call you Xander? Ah... Mia and I are just pretending to be
engaged?" Dylan Cooper said.

"What do you mean, huh?" My eyes shifted from him to Mia.

"I'm gay. I'm protecting my image being a celebrity."

"What?"

"It's true." Mia said and looked at the other guy. "Mikael is Dylan's boyfriend. We're just hanging out
together. They wanted to make me happy."

I shook my head, feeling so confused.

He's gay? All along he's gay! I'm going insane absorbing all of these. Mia is making me crazy.

"We're going now, Mia so both of you can talk. I hope you will settle your problem tonight." Dylan
cooper said and left the house before I could speak.

***Later
"What do you want me to do. Cry in the corner and wait for you to come? I was trying to move on. You
called me a lying bitch and threw me out of the house. What do you think would I feel? You showed me
that your'e done with me." We were back in the living room, sitting across each other.

"Correction. I did not throw you out of the house. You threatened me that you would leave. I told you that
that's what you're good at, running away. And you did. Again!"

"Because you don't listen to me. You're pride is higher than Mt. Everest."

I exhaled heavily. Staring at her. "Why did you lie to me about having an amnesia."

"I'm sorry. It was a stupid thing to do."

"Why? I thought we were doing good in our relationship? Instead you made a fool of me. That's unfair."

"I was not happy, Xander."

Not happy? That was a big blow in my part.

"What do you mean?"

"You didn't really care about me. Everything was all about you!"

"How could you say that? I showered you with my love."

"It was not enough. You didn't make an effort to get to know me better. What I liked and what I didn't. I
wanted to have my own career but you didn't want me to. I wanted to decide for myself, and make a
choice but you wouldn't allow me. It was always your decision. I felt so inferior of you to the point that I
felt useless, not needed. I became insecure and lost my self esteem."

"Mia, I swear it was not my intention. You should have told me."

"I tried. But you wouldn't listen. You were so busy with your job, coming home so tired and you always
brushed me off when I started talking about my concerns. So I just kept quiet about my feelings. When
you asked me for marriage, I thought everything would change but it became worst. You wouldn't listen,
Xander. To the point that I was fed up and... and that picture of you at the yacht with the girls in bikinis
clinging on you. It blew me away."

"I didn't sleep with those girls, I swear. Why didn't you ask me instead of running away."I became
frustrated listening to her reasons.

"Why didn't you tell me? You were keeping it a secret."

I realized I was so wrong. I didn't consider Mia's feelings. That she was a sensitive woman. I was wrong
thinking that our relationship was perfect because she was silent and never complained. But all along...
"Look... I'm sorry if that's what you feel." I took both of her hands and lifted it to my lips. "We'll start all
over again, Mia. I forgive you. For everything. And I'm hoping you'll forgive me too. Let's forget what
happened... please. I love you so much and it's really hard not having you in my life again. I can't function
well. I don't have pride anymore... I want you back. I'm going to kneel and crawl a hundred miles so you
could forgive me. I don't care about the past, I want what we have now and our future together."

She pulled her hands out of my grasp and glared at me. Her eyes were full of remoteness. I could feel that
I was slowly losing her. "No, Xander. I can't. I don't want to live with you again... I don't have freedom...
You have so much pride and I hate you for not knowing my favorite color, my favorite food.... I didn't
even get to watch my favorite movie because you want to watch Star Wars. Ugh! I hate Star Wars... I hate
those action pack tv series you kept on watching every night... I hate...

I pulled Mia in my arms and kissed her hard, passionately. She struggled but eventually stopped and
melted in my arms.

"I love you so much Mia and I never stopped loving you. I'm going to show you how much, every day
and every minute until you forget all the bitterness you have in your heart for me. I wouldn't stop proving
to you how you mean so much to me and how worthy I am to have your love. We will do everything you
love. I promise, I will listen to you and get to know everything about you. We will watch your favorite
movies, eat your favorite food... I will shower you with flowers and things with your favorite color. I love
you so much Mia. Please... let's give ourselves another try."

She looked at me with eyes full of tears. "I'm sorry, Xander..."

"Shhh... just say you love me, Mia... just say you love me."

Chapter Sixteen [Runaway Fiancée]

Chapter Sixteen (Unedited)

--Kindly put your playlist here--

Mia's POV

*One year later

"Miss Stewart, the textile company in India already confirmed. They can send the material next week."
My executive assistant said over the phone.

"That's great, Addison. By the way, call the advertising agency for an appointment this Friday here in the
office. Make it in the afternoon."

"Yes, maam."

I closed my eyes and leaned my head on my chair, breathing deeply. It was a very hectic day, but I loved
every minute of it. I was happy and fulfilled. I got to apply what I learned in school and made decisions
everyday.

I have my own swimwear company. It was very hard at first, but in the long run, I made it big. After six
months the business was recognized in international market.

I heard the door opened then snapped shut. I knew it was him.

He'd been very patient with me. Allowing me to be me and do what I wanted in life. He never questioned
my decisions. He never demanded. He never dictated. He was there, always supporting me.

I slowly opened my eyes. I saw a big bouquet of red roses in front of me. His face was hidden by the
beautiful flowers.

"Do you like it?" Xander asked.

"I love it." I heaved a sigh.

He put the bouquet on my desk and moved towards me, giving me a deep, drugging kiss. "Are you ready
to go?"

"Yeah, I am." I stood up, took my bag and bouquet with me. "Where are we going?"

"I told you, it's a surprise." He pulled me in his arms and kissed me again.

"But I'm not dressed for dinner."

"You always look beautiful, Mia."

Xander and I continued our relationship but we took everything slower this time. We decided to start all
over again and get to know each other well. He discovered a lot of things about me now - the real me, and
I discovered new things about him too.

I lived in an apartment near the place where my business was. Alone. Xander disagreed, but it was for the
better. I needed to be on my own. To learn to become independent.

Xander drove inside a secluded park - above a hill. It was closed but the guard let us in.

"What are we doing in here?" I looked around the place, it was dark and creepy. The lights gleaming were
only the city lights below.

"Just wait." He continued driving until he parked the car.

We walked in a narrow pathway until we arrived in a secluded theme park. There were rollercoaster,
ferris wheel, carousel and other rides. Lights shone brightly everywhere. The carousel was moving slowly
with the music box sound.

"This is so beautiful." I was in awe looking around the theme park. Xander knew how I loved it. It
reminded me of the times when my mom and dad were still together, and they brought me to the theme
park.

"I know you'll love it," he said and took my hand, guided me to a candlelight dinner table at the other end,
surrounded with beautiful flowers and lanterns. There was a romantic violin and orchestra playing.

"Wow, are you trying to impress me, Mr. Valiente?"

"Am I succeeding?" He winked at me flirtatiously.

"You know you are." I smiled and sat on a chair he pulled for me.

I enjoyed our dinner. It was so romantic. Made me fall in love with Xander more and more. He was all
I've ever wanted. I didn't know how life would be without him in my life. Since we got back together, he
never stopped courting me. Impressing me. Making me happy and at the same time, being so patient.

"Why are you doing this, Xander?"

"You know why, Mia. I love you so much."

"I love you too, Xander. But... what's the occasion? Why are we here? Are you going to propose to me
again?"

"No." He answered briefly, eating his steak.

"No?" I felt a twinge of disappointment. "Why not?"

"What's the use? You'll turn me down again."

I put my fork on my plate and sighed heavily. I felt disappointed. "You mean you're not going to propose
to me again?"

"No."

"What if I'll say Yes this time?" I almost shouted.

"Why? Are you going to say Yes tonight?" He asked.

"Yes! Of course!"

He smiled with satisfaction. "Look behind you."

I was shocked. Speechless.

At the city lights, I saw a big billboard, the red lights glittering 'Will You Marry Me Mia."

Xander stood up and went towards where I was sitting. With one bended knee, he asked me. "You know
how much I love you, Mia. Since we've been together, I've never stopped loving you. You're my life, my
everything. I promise to make you happy always and not to make you cry. I will be loyal, sincere and
honest to you. Please make me the happiest man on earth. Will you marry me?"

I couldn't help but cry. With trembling lips, I said. "Yes."

***

One month later, we got married. We went to Phuket, Thailand for a one-week honeymoon. We enjoyed
the crystal clear water and white sand beach. Strolling in the morning hand in hand and barefoot, having
romantic dinners and making love in the beautiful villa. Made us so happy and more in love with each
other.

One year later, our first child was born. A handsome baby boy, we named Noah. Then after one and a half
years, we had another baby boy, Christian. Our two boys completed me and Xander - as a family.

I stopped running away and pretending amnesia again. It was a very immature thing to do. I was just
thankful that Xander had a lot of patience and loved me wholeheartedly. I wouldn't dare hurt him again. I
loved him so much, as well as my two boys, Noah and Christian. I wouldn't run again because I preferred
to stay with them forever and always.
