Canadian High Commission Subject: Statement of purpose for the application fora student visa Respected Sir/ Madam I am Azharul Islam, a Bangladeshi citizen born live in the Sylhet district. On May 27, 2021, I completed my Bachelor of Engineering (BSc) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sylhet Engineering College which is affiliated with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, and obtained a CGPA of 3.73 out of 4.00. Moreover, I completed my Higher Secondary School Certificate from MC College, Sylhet in 2014with a GPAof 4.70 out of 5.00 anda Secondary School Certificate from Sylhet Govt. Pilot High School in 2012 with a GPA of 5.00 out of 5.00. I was in the science group in both cases. I was fascinated about studying in Canada from an early age in my life. In addition to that, I will receivean internationally recognized education from some of the top educators and academics in the world in Canada. The educational system in my country (Bangladesh) is mainly dependent on theoretical knowledge duringthe graduation period. Less priority is given to practical learning compared to other countries. On the other hand, studying in Canada will provide mewith both theoretical knowledges alongside practical expertise. I will be able to focus a lot on research and will engage in intriguing experiments, the groupworks, and projects, meant to providea complete study experience, based on innovation and forward- thinking.Classroom atmosphere and linguistic and cultural diversity also motivate me to obtain a higher degree from Canada. So, my cherished dream will be fulfilled if I get the opportunity to complete my Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electrical and Computer (ECE) engineering from the University of Calgary. The great Benjamin Franklin once said,“Always walkthrough life as if you have something new to learn and you will”. I always believe in this motto and try to learn and grow in every single opportunity I get in my life. Being a student of science background, I always have the enthusiasm to take on new challenges and explore different dimensions of science and technology. My BSc degree has provided me with a strong foundation in both basic and advanced topics of electrical and electronics. During my undergrad, my university provided me with a course like Control System, Basic Communication Engineering, Signal and Linear Systems, Processing and Fabrication Technology, and VLSI which has set the fundamental of the topics I will face in the upcoming Master's program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in Canada. In addition to that, I have also completed some computer engineering courses such as Introduction to Computer Language, Digital Signal Processing, Microprocessor, and Interfacing. Those courses will help me understand coursework with the option to complete one or more projects. Therefore, there is a quite intimate relationship between my current qualification, knowledge, skills, and the MEng course I aspire to study. While I was studying for my Bachelor's, I have done some extracurricular activities. I was the student Union Vice President one time. I was an executive member of a music club and a debating club during my graduation period, taking part in various events and even organizing them. My career goal is to become an expert in the field of electrical and computer engineering and work in a leading company that places a priority on professionalism and leads such an organization towards the attainment of a set of goals by making use of knowledge garnered as well as experience. Excelling in electrical and computer engineering roles requires a mastery of cutting-edge methods and hands-on experience with the latest software tools. Moreover, A Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from the University of Calgary will prepare me to start or advance in positions where I would apply. In the upcoming future,I see myself as an Engineer with a solid foundation in high technology problem-solving which enables me to expand my career into different dimensions. I will be able to gain all of those if I get a chance to complete the degree. After completing the degree and returningto Bangladesh with a premier qualification, I will be in demand for a prestigious career at reputed companies. As Bangladesh is a developing country, I will get more facilities than other candidates as a foreign degree is highly preferable in my country. All renowned and reputedBangladeshi companies such as PRAN- RFL, ACI, BEXIMCO, and BASHUNDHARA group give more importance to foreign degree holders. Moreover, the internet and technology sectors are improving day by day in Bangladesh. Many industries and High-Tech Park have been established where I will get jobs related to the subjects I would have studied for my master's degree. Some other international companies, like APPLE, and SAMSUNG have started their industries in Bangladesh where they give more importance to North American degree holders. So, I will also have a scope in those sectors after returning from Canada. Moreover,I am confident I will avail a better position in my Country and contribute to and share the knowledge and skills I obtained in my master’s degree. Being one of the top students in my faculty, joining my university faculty will be easier for me. As a result, if I get the opportunity to earn this degree, I will get available jobs to enhance my career. Obtaining a degree from abroad will help me to become a better person in life. It relieves stress and anxiety.Stepping outside ofmy comfort zone will help to learn and sustain myself in a different environment. Traveling wides our mind and boost our mental energy. I am a traveler and love to travel to different places to explore life. I have visited almost all the popular places in Bangladesh and also went to India for visiting purposes. I went to Kolkata and saw many phenomena. I am living with my family in Sylhet which consists of my father, mother, and younger sister. My father is a retired Govt.employee who worked in the Bangladesh Bank (Central bank of Bangladesh) as a Deputy General Manager (DGM) and my mother is a housewife. Being the only son of my parents, I have a very intimate relationship with my family members and future responsibilities will be on my shoulder after returning from Canada. I will have to take care of them in the future, especially my parents because after 2 years my father and mother will be in their 70s and 60s. Meanwhile, my sister will also get married soon and it will be very tough for her to take care of my parents while staying in her husband’s house. So, I will have to look after them. Besides, we are living in our own house which is three stored building in town which need to be maintained in future. It will be quite difficult for them to look after the house without my assistance. Overall, I must return to Bangladesh after completing my degree as soon as possible. My parents always want to see me happy and they want to see me achieve my professional goals. They encourage me to pursue my higher education in Canada. The maximum portion of my fee and living expenses will be covered by my father and a few will be sponsored by my mother. The source of funds from my father’s provident fund, gratuity fund, fixed deposits, Bangladesh Bank Pensioner Sanchaypatra, Family Sanchaypatra, savings, and rental income from my house as we have given our 1st and 2nd floor as rent. Considering my study plan, I request you to grant me a study permit to obtain my desired degree program Master of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Sincerely Azharul Islam
