Assignment 1

1. Meaning of system in general

A system is defined as a set of rules, an arrangement of things, or a

collection of connected objects that operate together to achieve a common
purpose.

2. Business systems

A business system is a series of repetitive operations aimed at achieving a

specific goal. It is intended to connect all of an organization's various
components and interconnected steps so that they can work together to
achieve the business strategy's goals. When a company apply well-defined
principles and practices to the systems and processes that provide value to
the consumers, they are establishing a business system.

3. Information systems

Information system is a collection of various pieces of equipment used in

the collecting, processing, storage, and distribution of information. While
workers in this field use computers and software and require network
connection, they are primarily concerned with pulling data from a variety of
sources (internal or external servers, or the Internet) in order to complete
various tasks.

4. Accounting information system

Internal users utilize an accounting information system (AIS) to gather,

store, and process financial and accounting data to report information to
investors, creditors, and tax authorities. It's a computer-based method for
tracking accounting operations using information technology. An AIS blends
traditional accounting procedures with current information technology
resources, such as the usage of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
(GAAP).
5. System environment

System environment composed of everything the system interacts with

such as people, facilities, rules, policies, and regulations.

6. System boundary

The system boundary is a line that separates the system you're interested
in studying. It's helpful to conceive of a system's environment as a
collection of objects which aren't part of the system but can influence or be
influenced by it.

7. Subsystem

The subsystem is where the system's work is processed. A subsystem is a

single, predetermined operational environment in which the system
manages task flow and resource allocation. The system can include multiple
subsystems that operate independently of one another. Subsystems are in
charge of resource management.

8. Data cycle

The term "data processing cycle" refers to a set of stages or procedures for
processing data, such as transforming raw data into useable information. A
variety of data processing methods can be used to process data.
Input — After collecting, raw data must be delivered into the cycle for
processing.
Processing - Once the raw data has been delivered, it is processed using
an appropriate or chosen processing method.
Output - The raw data provided in the first stage has now been "processed,"
and the data is now valuable and gives information, and it is no longer
referred to as data.

9. Systems analysis

System analysis is the process of evaluating a procedure or business to

define its aim and purposes and create systems and procedures that will
efficiently achieve them. Another perspective sees system analysis as a
problem-solving technique that dissects a system into its component
elements and assesses how well those parts operate together to achieve
their goals.

10. Advantages and limitations of systems analysis

When a system analysis is done correctly, it ensures the efficiency and the
correct path is taken in terms of applications and helps to avoid errors,
lowering future IT requirements for problem resolution. System analysis
enables improved management by allowing software to be changed to suit
any business changes, resulting in a completely controllable final product in
order to maximize its profit. Potential dangers are recognized as part of the
procedure. To examine all of the negative effects on the processes, a risk
assessment is conducted which will require time and money. And the
systems' quality is ensured by performing regular system analysis and
checking the system.
