BU airs premiere radio program on education, livelihood on Radyo Veritas, Legazpi

Bicol University launched the first episode of a weekly radio broadcast dubbed,
Programang Pang-edukasyon at Pangkabuhayan through Radyo Veritas, Legazpi on
May 17, 2021. 

Radyo Veritas will allocate a one-hour air slot for the show every Thursday from 10am
to 11am, in collaboration with Bicol University Extension and Management Division
(BUEMD). The program was also streamed live on the Facebook pages of BUEMD and
BU.

The launching program was hosted by Prof. Edgar Barrameda, a professor of BU

College of Business Economics and Management (CBEM) and chairperson of the
Department of Entrepreneurship. 

The program aims to disseminate information on home-grown technologies nurtured by

the university according to Barrameda. 

The debut program featured BU President Arnulfo M. Mascariñas who spoke on the
thrusts and priorities of BU under the new normal.

The 40-million multifunctional gymnasium on the BU Polangui Campus, the two-story

BU College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) dormitory, and the three-story BU College
of Law building were among the projects mentioned.

The president also announced plans to turn the BUREPC Building into a Business
Incubation and Space Center, which would showcase university-developed innovations,
as well as the construction of the Infirmary Building, which will have a capacity of 20
beds.

Since the onslaught of typhoons last year, renovation, rehabilitation, and repairs will
continue particularly at the Aquilino P. Bonto Building, Arcilla Buidling, and some
damaged roofs, ceilings, windows, including building re-painting according to
Mascariñas. 

The immunization against COVID-19 for BU employees was also mentioned. Document
tracking system for stakeholders and online student clearance were also being
developed to reduce face-to-face interaction.
