COVID-19 AFFECTS KIBABII UNIVERSITY.

NELSON.

Covid-19 affects Kibabii University learning system again in the year 2021; this is due to mid
semester lockdown aimed at combating the pendamic that forced education to switch to dietance
learning.

The University council is working hard to make sure that learning is still facilitated through online
so finish syllabus in time.

Will covid-19 finally trigger a long- overdue learning disruption in the University? This is the
question that is left unanswered.

Students are crucially affected at their core.For the students the period okie undoubtedly,
examinations and how they are conducted remains uncertain.

The university have gone virtual within a matter of days and it has affected the students at large.In 2021
March when the president of Kenya ordered for the closure of all learning institutions so that the
country can curb the spread of covid-19, all premises in the university were shut and we switched to
online way of doing things including learning in the institution; a change that required a lot of adaption
from lecturers and students.

The pendamic has forced even the university library to move and work hard to put in place extra
online support for the lecturers and students where access of library is still possible.

Clearly, online learning also affects examination, as the university is working hard on putting
place viable alternatives to on-site exams.

For students who living in the university residence area , when the studies were to resume
according to the ministry of education cabinet secretary, physical distancing was difficult to respect. In
that regard, the university have different policies depending on the type of student resident.

Hostels where social distancing was impossible to keep were accommodating a half of the previous
accommodation population that forced students to expense themselves to move out of the university
and look for residence there, that affected most of the students who had not planned for residing
outside the university.
Due to lockdow in some of the counties and the cessation of moving in and out of Kenya, most students
from the locked counties and those from foreign countries have found it hard staying around the
university experiencing financial problems .

Question 2
A television station is an installation room in which video productions take place ,either for the
production of live television and it's recording onto video tape or there media for the acquision of raw
footage for post-production.

Studio mixing board. Lets one balance, position, effects and equalize different audio channels into a
single "audio image".Basically, it combines multiple audio signals, process them and pushes them out to
the computer or speaker system.

Microphones.broadcasting microphones are used for announcing and voice-overs, thus used in
television broadcasting program. Virtually broadcast mics have some similar features;

Cardioids pickup pattern; this rejects noice off axis and the microphone will pick up the sound
desired.

Shock mounted capsule;It prevents noise resulting from vibration or bundling of the
microphone.

Integrated pop filter; it protects the capsule from sibilance when one speaks close to the
microphone.

Digital television transmitter.Its an electronic device that converts the audio and video signals of a
television program into modulated radio- frequency energy that can be radiated from an antenna and
received on a television receiver.

Antenna: Its a television aerio specifically designed for use with television receiver to receive over the air
broadcast television signals from television station.Its purpose is to intercept radio waves from the
desired television station and convert them to tiny radio frequency alternating currents which are
applied to the television tuner which extracts the television signals.

Headphones.They are used to convert electric signals to a corresponding sound.They let a single user to
listen to an audio source privately.They can be connected to the transmitter so that the one
broadcasting can hear the audio.

Camera.The television camera is a device that employs light-sensitive image sensors to convert an
optical image into a sequence of electrical signals as to generate the primary components of the picture
signals.

Scheduler .A scheduler or on-air planner as they are known ,is a key important role in a television
broadcaster.A scheduler creates the final transmission schedule that goes out to the viewers.
Hardware encorder. It is a dedicated appliance which captures, compresses and converts audio visual
data into a format that is suitable for streaming and encording.They can be very simple, portable devices
,built for streaming to the destination only.

Streaming receiver.It is a set top box that connects to a television to play content from one or more
video streaming services.The devices are also known as streaming media players.

Digital modulator.It is used to transfer a digital bit stream over an analog channel at a high
frequency.This enables users to transmit signals generated in a digital circuit across a physical medium.

Transmission lines.Are used to transfer the release factor power efficiently from a transmitter to the
antenna, but they often are routed through high power filters, switches and combiners on the
way.Eukaryote release factor is the power radiated by the antenna and is the number a station is
licensed for by the Federal Communications Commission.

Lightning protector.The typical surge protector diverts the energy of the transient through a device that
can absorb the short duration and high energy event.

A studio link transmitter or stereo lighteorophy is a special type of equipment used in broadcasting
industry.Its work is to send audio or video signals from the broadcasting base to another transmitter
that can be several miles away.Studio transmitter link works for both radio and television stations.
