mushrooms (Pleurotus sp.) can be grown on variety of crop refuses, saw dust, bagasse (a
waste product from sugar mill), sludge (a waste from paper pulp mill) etc. Processing of
agro-waste in to valuable protein rich food reduces the environmental pollution and its
byproduct as spent mushroom is also a good source for making compost, manure, soil
conditioner and can be used as feed for animal and fish. Paddy straw and banana leaves
are also available in the vicinity of the Campus which can be effectively utilized as
substrate (growing medium) for mushroom cultivation

are trying to impose in our local farmers but help and improvement as well. This is
substantial for their field that is essential in their growth.

Likewise, we can also help other aspiring famers, students and/or businessmen in
motivating and inspiring them that they could still work productively in this rough
time. This will give them both an initiative and kick start for the ideas dwelled up in
their minds. It is important that even in this hard situation, we could still work as
one in helping the local farmers to uplift their living.

D. Expected Outcome

The main expected outcome of this project is to have a well-informed and trained and
local farmers.

Specifically, Mushroom production and processing result to:

E. Possible Risks/ Problems and Countermeasures

The possible problem of the Mushroom production and processing webinar series
will be the internet connection and power interruption which may cause delays in
conducting the activities. In that case, the session will be delayed and the time will be
adjusted.
