Insights gained from the Interview

Based on the answers of our interviewee, as a group we learned that child care center

should provide adequette food and nutrition for their services. And we learned that food services

in center should meet individual needs of the children. We also learn that sometimes feeding

program takes place in basketball court or somewhere who could accomodate large quantity of

children. We also discern the importance of safety and security of each children when doing a

feeding programs for example the center needs to report and record the injuries, accidents or

problems that happen inside the center and outside whenever they conduct services to the parents

to let them know the details of what happen.

We also learned that it is important for the health workers to have basic skill in first aid

treatment and to have a first aid kit for them to be ready in case there’s an emergency. We also

learned that health and nutrition services are important in children’s health development. From

the right vaccines, vitamins, deworming, growth monitoring, nutritious foods, health records, and

a safe environment. And health center always ensures the safety of food and drinks that are to be

distributed to the children to avoid unnecessary outcome like food poisoning, but sometimes

because of lack of funds, they can only serve a simple meal like lugaw. And they also maintain

cleanliness in and outside the center to protect the children from any kind of diseases or harm.

We also learned the importance of seminars for the parents, for them to have a knowledge

about the health, nutrition, and safety of the children. The participation of parents and center staff

in a program or in the center is also important because they are responsible for addressing the

needs of every child. And we learned that the parents and the barangay health center should work

as a team for the sake of every child.
