OVERVIEW In light of the Expanded Implementation of the in-person
component of Kaway Aralan sa Bagong Kadawyan, the Office of Admissions of the
Philippine Normal University, the National Center for Teacher Education, will return to
administering admission test as part of the screening of the applicants who aspire to be
future educators. The Office migrated all its transactions to online processes including
the Undergraduate Admissions Screening.

The Philippine Normal University Admission Test will be administered with high
compliance to the health protocols set by the IATF; from the application procedures to
the following steps an applicant must take until he/she is enrolled as an undergraduate
student of Inang Pamantasan. The Office made sure that the application experience for
the applicants will be both practical and safe as applicants can access and apply for
PNU within the comforts of their own homes, conserving expenses and the effort to
travel. This new application procedure also prevents further transmission of the COVID-
19 physical or face-to-face transactions may bring.

The Philippine Normal University first and foremost, puts the wellbeing of all her
students, undergraduates and applicants alike.

Applicants will be selected based on their scores on the admission test. The said
admissions screening will then be concluded with an online interview.

PNU, through the Office of Admissions assures aspiring educators that applications are
still being accepted, regardless of where they are from. The University also accepts
applicants with disabilities as we believe that no impairment may hinder the
determination of any applicant to uphold the excellence, discipline, truth the Philippine
Normal University observes.

Moving forward starts with each one of us. With the learnings obtained from the past
years living even with the threat of the virus, we can make sound choices on how to

Greetings!

The most effective and meaningful way to search for the right college and the right degree
program is one that involves an extensive research to identify colleges or universities which are
a good match to your academic, social, personal, and professional needs.

Undeniably, prestige and reputation are important in choosing where to enroll, but these should
not be the only basis of your decision. You also need to carefully reflect on and understand the

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
LOCAL APPLICANT

a. Eligibility Requirements

Grade 12 students of DepEd-accredited schools or secondary schools abroad


expected to graduate at the end of Academic Year 2022-2023.
Grade 12 graduates of DepEd-accredited schools or secondary schools
abroad and has not taken any college course.
Completed middle school or its equivalent (e.g. Philippine Educational
Placement Test (PEPT), Alternative Learning System (ALS) or a Non-Formal
Equivalency test) and certified by the Department of Education. All certificates
will be subject to evaluation and confirmation.

b. Documentary Requirements

1. For Graduating Senior High School Students


Certified True Copy of Grade 11 report card and latest Grade 12 report card with
no grade lower than 80% or its equivalent in any subjects and with a General
Weighted Average (GWA) of 85% or its equivalent.

2. Other Applicants

2.a. For Grade 12 Graduates. Certified True Copy Grade 12 Report Card
with no grade below 80% or its equivalent in any subjects, and with a General
Weighted Average of 85% or its equivalent) and has not taken any
undergraduate/college program.

2.b. For Transferees. Transcript of Records/Certification of Grades with no


grade below 80% or its equivalent in any subjects, with a General Weighted
Average of 85% and has no failed and/or incomplete subjects.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

2.c. Completed Middle School or its equivalent. Certification from


Philippine Educational Test (PEPT)/ Alternative Learning System (ALS) or a
Non-Formal Equivalency test both given and certified by the Department of
Education (CMO No. 10 S. 2018)

3. Certification from the School Principal that the student is graduating from
SHS/ Certification of Enrollment/ Registration Form

4. Other Requirements

The Philippine Normal University through the Office of Admissions


commits to provide an inclusive admission process to accommodate
aspiring teachers and future education leaders while adhering to our values
of truth, excellence, and service.

In the absence of the Philippine Normal University Admission Test (PNUAT)


this year, the main reference for college admission is the scholastic
credentials of the applicants. Acceptance decisions will also be based on the
recommendations of school officials, extra-curricular engagements,
essay, and on information written down on the application form.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
FOREIGN APPLICANT

a. Eligibility Requirements

Foreign applicant who graduated from a high school/ secondary/


middle school abroad and has not enrolled in college may be admitted
to the undergraduate program if s/he meets the needed requirements.

b. Documentary Requirements

1.a. Individual application requirements will be reviewed by the Director


of the Office of Admissions

1.b. Group applications through an agency or coordinating firm should


write an intent letter addressed to the University President to be reviewed
by the Linkages and International Office

2. Apostille authenticated Senior High School/Middle School Card


and authenticated Certificate of Graduation in High School/Diploma
with English translations duly certified by the Registrar of the University
where the applicant graduated and from the Philippine Embassy of the
country of origin*

3. A computed Grade Weighted Average (GWA) equivalent to at least 85% or its


equivalent in the PNU Grading System

4. Applicants must have TOEFL/ IELTS/ TOEIC certificate. All foreign applicants
whose native language is English need not to submit a certification. Applicants who did
not meet the required score (TOEFL-60-78; IELTS-6) or do not have any English language
certification need to take an additional English Language Course at PNU during the first
term/semester of enrollment

Admission Test, Interview, and Medical Examination

SPECIAL POPULATION APPLICANTS

a. Applicant with Disclosed Disability. The PNU is committed to compliance with the
R.A. 7277 and CMO No.9 S. 2013, and we endeavor to ensure that every application
registering disability is treated fairly and without discrimination or disadvantage due to
disability, medical or mental health condition.

All applicants with disclosed disability/ies should still follow the standard
process of admission for local applicants. In addition, they are encouraged to
provide information relating to their disability, and in particular whether
additional facilities or support are likely to be required during the course of
their studies. This could be included in the application, or through direct
contact with the Office of Admissions.

The consideration of a disclosed disability and any required adjustments will


take place separately, after the academic selection decision has been made. All
information provided by an applicant regarding his/her disability will be
treated as confidential. It will be shared only for the purposes of making
reasonable adjustments.

b. Indigenous People. As self-identified members of the indigenous community, they


are eligible for priority admission. This means that if they meet the admission
requirements and procedures, the Office of Admissions extends reasonable
accommodation to secure their admission slots.

c. Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Scholars. DOST qualifiers shall


comply with the documentary requirements to be admitted to the University. The
requirements should be submitted directly to the PNU-DOST Office which are tasked to
endorse the list of qualified applicants to the Office of Admissions.

Note: Credentials filed in support of the application and credentials submitted for registration become the
property of the Philippine Normal University and will not be returned to the applicant/student.

3. Submission of requirements. There are three (3) ways to submit
your documentary requirements.
3a. PNU Manila - Submit all the application requirements to the Office
of Admissions Window 2

3b. PNU Manila - Applicants may submit via email using the following
format

Email: Include to your email your complete name and Applicant ID

3c. PNU Manila - Applicants may also opt to submit applications by their
preferred courier. Secure the documents in a long brown envelope and
include the Name of the Applicant, Application ID, Contact Details

3d. Other campuses - contact the concerned campus for the details of
submission.

4. Test Permit. Secure a Test Permit which will be sent through their
registered email address two (2) weeks after the application period.
Schedule, room assignment, and other details of the Admission Test
will be indicated in the Test Permit.
Note:
Only applications of qualified applicants with complete requirements
will be processed and be enlisted as official applicant.
Only official applicants will receive a Test Permit

5. Take the exam on their scheduled date and pass the


admission test to be allowed to proceed to the interview part
of the screening.

6. Qualified applicants receives guidelines for the conduct of


admission interview. They will be scheduled for a face-face interview as
the next phase of the admission screening. This does not guarantee
admission to the University since the interview is still part of the
application procedure.

7. Qualified applicants will be again scheduled for medical and


mental health screening and submission of medical records.

3. Chest X-ray and drug test results (dated this year) from any DOH
accredited medical facilities

8. Release of admission results via email on the last week of June


2023. Updates and announcements will be posted on the PNU website,
PNU Official Facebook and Office of Admissions Facebook pages.

9. Falsification of Admission Application: If the false, misrepresented,


or misleading information on the application is discovered, the Office of
Admissions shall write to the applicant outlining the discrepancy and
requesting to submit a written reply addressing the concern. The University
Admissions Committee shall decide whether or not the applications should
be rejected or the offer withdrawn. In such cases, candidates shall be
informed of the reasons for the rejection/withdrawal of an offer.

10. Alternative Modes of Submission: While PNU encourages online


accomplishment and submission, in some cases, we will coordinate with
concerned student applicants for other means of submission such as
manually accomplished forms.

Will PNU conduct an entrance test (Philippine Normal University


Admission Test or PNUAT) the Academic Year 2022-2023?
Yes, Philippine Normal University Admission Test will be administered to
screen applicants for incoming first-year students for A.Y. 2023-2024.

How can I apply online?


You can visit the official PNU website at www.pnu.edu.ph or click the link at
https://pwebss.pnu.edu.ph/pnu/applicants where you will be directed
to the application page. You can also visit the official PNU page on
Facebook, or the official Facebook page of the PNU Office of Admissions
where a link will be provided to direct you to the application page.

What photo am I going to upload in my online Admissions form?

Am I going to receive a confirmation message after I fill-out


my application form?
A confirmation email will be sent within seven (7) working days upon
submitting the complete requirements. However, in cases where
applications need to be verified, please expect delays in the
confirmation. As long as you can visityour application portal, it will
confirm that your data is recorded.

What am I going to indicate in my application form


if I don’t have my GWA yet?

You need to ensure that your GWA is computed and legible in either
Form 137/138 that you will submit in support of your application. If it’s
not clearly visible in any of the forms, please request a Certificate of
GWA from your previous/current school.

How many times am I allowed to register in your online application?


You are only allowed to register once. The system will automatically detect
your previous application should you apply more than once.

How can I revise and update my personal information in


the online application form?
You can update your profile through the application portal. You will
need a valid email address for logging on to your application account
and for receiving notifications about your application status and results.

Can I replace my existing email address used in my application?


You can always update your application by logging in your
credentials using the generated applicant’s username and
password. Make sure to indicate a correct email address.

Is my application in PNU Manila also valid for other PNU campuses?


No, that is why it is important that you apply in your preferred PNU

campus, and confirm if the program you want to pursue is


available in the chosen campus.

What should I do if I can’t find the name of my school from your list?
If your school is not on our list, please choose “not on the list”.

Does PNU offer face-to-face transactions for admission applications?


Yes, we highly suggest to submit your application personally following the
university's health protocol and guidelines.

I’m encountering an error message saying that I have an existing account


in your online application. How can I fix it?

The system might detect your previous account or engagement.


Kindly follow these steps:

Click the APPLY button.
Fill-out the needed information except the date of birth (do not change
the date to proceed).
Click the continue button then fill-out the form, click the icon near the
date of birth to change it.
Don't forget to click the SAVE button after finishing the registration
process.

Click the "printer-friendly format" to be able to save your application form in


PDF file.

What are the Undergraduate programs offered in PNU?

Please check the details on the Undergraduate Admission Booklet. Take


note that all first-year students are required to take first the General
Education courses before having a majorship or program specialization in
their second-year level. First-year students need to take a majorship exam
that usually starts during the 2nd term of each academic year. It is a unique
process in the University that every first-year must undergo; the
examination will determine the majorship program for second-year.

Will I pay the tuition fee?


Under the UniFAST program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), tuition
and miscellaneous fees for first-year students are waived. Please read more about
Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Act.

How many terms does PNU have in one academic year?


The University observes a trimestral academic year or three (3) terms in an
academic year with three (3) months each.

What will be the learning modality for the AY 2023-2024?

Given the University President's approval of the proposal for face-to-face classes in
all campuses, we hope to start the limited face-to-face classes starting Term 3 of
Academic Year 2022-2023. Updates on this matter will be posted on our website.

What are PNU’s available scholarship grants and how do I apply for one?

In PNU Manila, there’s a total of 30 scholarships available to bonafide PNU students


both from public and private sectors being managed by the Office of Student Affairs
and Student Services (OSASS). In other campuses, scholarships are also available in
the Office of Student Services. Usually, applications to these scholarship grants are
open as soon as the school year starts.

When is the start of classes for Academic Year 2023-2024?

The official date of the start of classes for the Academic Year 2022-2023
is to be announced. You can check for further updates on the official
PNU website or follow the official PNU Facebook page.

Will PNU credit my previous subjects if I am a transferee ?

No. Unfortunately, PNU will not credit any of the subjects you took in your previous
school/college/university/etc. Be advised that the PNU is the National Center for Teacher
Education and as such, offers an exclusive curriculum that students must take.

I belong to the old curriculum (BEC, etc.) with High School diploma. Am I
allowed to enroll in PNU or do I need to take Senior High School first?
Please secure a Certification from Philippine Educational Test (PEPT) or Alternative

Learning System (ALS) or a Non-Formal Equivalency test both given and certified by the
Department of Education (CMO No. 10 S. 2018).
