Instructions
This is a 3-hr exam on the following topics:
Preliminary Concepts
Vectors
Motion (One-Dimensional and Two-Dimensional Motion)
Prepare your pen, paper, and calculator before you begin.
This exam includes 35 short answer questions (multiple choice, fill in the blanks, and formula
questions/word problems; 1 point each) and 1 word problem (that requires a file upload; 15
points).
Multiple Choice: Choose the BEST answer.
Fill in the blanks and Formula Question: In typing your numerical answer, DO NOT include the
units. DO NOT express your answers in scientific notation. Take note of the rounding rule
indicated in the question.
Word Problems:
1. Show all the necessary work to justify your answer/s.
2. Write your solutions in a clean sheet of paper.
3. Upload your solution sheets with the filename: ME_Question Number_Last Name.jpeg (or
.png/.pdf/.docx)
Use your time wisely in answering each question.
Buffer time: 15 minutes extra time is added for file uploading. This means a total of 195
minutes is allotted to complete the exam.
Failure to upload your output within the time limit will mean noncompletion of your exam.
No marks are awarded for any answers submitted (through the comments section or Teams) after
the time ran out.
If there are connectivity issues, send your file (solution sheet) to your facilitator through MS

1. From the roof top of a 5m-high building, Cheong-san saw a zombie 20

meters away. Luckily, it was blocked by a Wall-Nut. If Cheong-san
kicked his soccer ball horizontally at a speed of 18m/s, did the ball
reach the zombie? Justify your answer.
2. Suppose Cheong-san decided to kick the ball from the ground with a
speed of 15m/s, 59.7 above the horizontal. Can Cheong-san hit the
zombie? Justify your answer.
3. If your answer in (2) is yes, solve for the time it will take the ball to hit
the zombie; otherwise, solve for the required speed the ball must be
kicked to reach the zombie.
