TERMS TO DESCRIBE ALTERATION OF URINE ODOR


- Faint aromatic
PRODUCTION .Abnormal
- Offensive

POLYURIA pH
- Refers to the production of abnormally - 4.5 – 8.0
large amounts of urine by the kidneys. - Freshly voided urine is somewhat acidic.
OLIGURIA Abnormal
- Used to describe decreased urinary - Over 8 and under 4.5

- Voiding that is either painful or difficult - Not present

COLOR AND CLARITY


- Straw, amber transparent

Pale yellow or almost clear – diluted
Foods and drugs – colors urine
- Menstrual flow also colors urine
Pink, bright red or rusty brown – RBC (hematuria)
Cloudy urine – WBC, bacteria, pus or
contaminants
