1.1.1 Provide and enforce a minimum and good standard for Design
Drawings.
1.I
.2 Provide a system which allows for many thousands of design drawings
and for many designers and disciplines (not all known at the start of
the project).
1.I
.3 Make Document Control, Design Management, Development
Management, Commercial Management, communication between
Designers, Construction Management etc. simpler and more cost-
effective and less prone to errors in communication.
1.I
.4 Make clear which Design Drawings are suitable to be issued 'for
construction'.
1.I
.5 Make those aspects of Facility Management which use As-Built
drawings etc simpler and more cost-effective and less prone to errors
in communication
1.2 Circulation of this procedure is internal to Al Futtaim Group - Real Estate and
1.4.1 The term 'design' (express or implied) includes but is not restricted to:
I Drawings, Specifications, Calculations and Schedules, and the term

Design Drawing Minimum Standards
'design' applies to all designs produced by the design consultants or
sub-consultants, the contractors or subcontractors, the suppliers, or
anybody else.
1.5 Drawings which do not comply with the standards outlined in this procedure
will generally be returned to the organization that produced the drawing and
will not be considered to have been delivered in any contractual I
commercial I programming analysis.
3.2.1 The CAD filenames for the drawings shall be the same as (or
transparently similar to) the drawing number + revision id. CAD files
must be identifiable via the filename alone without needing to open the
file or to rely on its location in a directory structure or the like.
3.3.1 The path type on all external references must be a relative path. The
CAD filenames for external reference files to drawings shall be the
same as (or transparently similar to) the drawing number + 'x'
(lowercase) + nn (01 through 99) and shall be constant regardless of
drawing revision (to avoid a requirement for repeated rebuilding of
reference file associations). CAD external reference files must be
identifiable via the filename alone without needing to open the file or to
rely on its location in a directory structure or the like. CAD external
reference files are to be archived by renaming to add the same
revision id as the drawing they were issued with. That ensures that old
revisions of CAD drawings including all external reference files can be
'rebuilt' if ever required.
When revision OB of the drawing is issued, the external reference files from revision
OA should be renamed and archived as ...
External reference file No. 1 filename
should be AFG/OOO/ZZ999/DD~/l234560Ax01
.dwg
External reference file No. 2 filename
should be AFG10001ZZ999/DDTlT/l234560Ax02.dwg
External reference file No. 3 filename
should be AFG10001ZZ999/DD~11234560Ax03.dwg
3.5.1 All drawings shall be made in true 1:l AutoCAD model space scale (so
that the electronic drawings can be interrogated for dimensions). All
plan drawings shall be made with the project grid origin and coordinate
system (so that different drawings can be correctly overlaid
electronicallywithout any requirement for repositioning or
transformation of coordinate systems).
3.5.2 All vertical drawings (elevations, sections) shall be made with the
project level datum (so that different drawings can be correctly overlaid
electronically without any requirement for repositioning or
transformation of level atums). Building prototype template units are

set to millimeters. Road & Service prototype template units are set to
meters.
3.5.3 Further more detailed information about CADD standards for the
project is in procedure AFGIAFGIZZ999IGIIPRClOOOl08 'CADD &
Design Drawing Manual' which takes precedence over any other
procedure.
3.6.1 Standard drawing sizes are AO, A l , A2, A3, A4. Preferred drawing
sizes are A1 , A3 and A4.
3.6.2 A0 and A2 are not preferred but may be acceptable in some instances
(though not for drawings intended 'for construction' andlor intended to
become 'as-built drawings').
3.6.3 Non-standard drawing shapes and sizes (i.e. other than AO, A l , A2,
A3, A4) are not acceptable.
3.6.4 All drawings intended 'for construction' andlor intended to become 'as-
built drawings' are to be A l , A3, or A4. In order to avoid
misinterpretations of drawings plotted to a size other than intended, all
drawings are to include a scale indicator Iruler.
3.6.5 All A1 drawings shall be made so that they are fully legible (including
text) when plotted in A3 size.
All drawings shall have a title block with the following information:
3.7.1 'Al Futtaim Group - Real Estate' and AFG Logo + Project Logo
3.7.2 Drawing Number and revision (in accordance with
AFGlAFGlZZ999lGllPRClOOO105)
3.7.3 Drawing Title
3.7.4 Date and Explanatory note for each revision
3.7.5 Printed Initials and signatures of 'Made by' 'Checked by' 'Approved by'
individuals in the organization who produced each revision of the
drawing. 'Made by' and 'Checked by' shall not be the same individual,
but other overlaps (Made by & Approved by, Checked by & Approved

3.8.1 In addition to the information about revisions required in the Title Block,
all latest revisions shall be indicated by a cloud + a clearly
understandable revision id at the actual parts of the drawing which
have been revised in the latest revision.
3.10.1 All drawings with adjacent continuation sheets shall have a note on the
affected match lines indicating that the drawing continues and stating
which drawing it continues on.
3.11.1 All general plan drawings shall have a keyplan indicating where they
are located within the particular (sub) project. All general plan drawings
shall have an indicator of direction 'North' and direction of Mecca.
