 Abstract:
Because of its extensive applications and functions, smartphone use
among students is now considered a necessary component of their lives. Students
utilize their smartphones for educational and recreational purposes. Previous research
has showed that students use smartphones for a variety of purposes. Smartphones are
used by many students for leisure, education, and social purposes. The purpose of this
research paper is to review relevant literature on smartphones usage among students
and to determine the negative effects of smartphones on students by focusing on
social aspect and psychology education. As a result, the review of this study is critical

access to gadgets. And with gadgets, we tend to engage on social media in order to
communicate with other people all around the world. Hence, this study contributes to
the literature on the positive and negative effects of using smartphones among grade
10 SSC students in INHS. Some positive effects are to help us provide our daily needs
for our research or daily lives, allows access to the internet, which can help a student
obtain answers to question very quickly and easily. Some negative effects are which
the learners cannot focus on their lesson, and it can cause health problems, lack of
interest in learning and lack of enthusiasm.

 Literature Review:
Norries, Hossain, and Soloway (2011) in their study demonstrated that
student’s achievements increase significantly when students use mobile learning
device, including smartphones, during learning time. This is because their time-on-
task completion will increase as they have the device on hand. Norries et al. (2012)
reported that
1
respondents in their research believed that smartphones had allowed them to improve
productivity and eventually their learning performance. Though many current studies
have shown smartphones usage benefits in learning, woodcock et al. (2012)
demonstrated contrasting findings. Students were found always their phones more for
playing games and other leisure activities than for learning. While and mills (2012)
also found they students were increasingly adopting smartphones with the focus on
personal rather than education.

 Methods:
The researcher was conducted by interviewing and determining what
effects they have obtained by the usage of gadgets. We interviewed Grade – 10
students and asking them if the effects of gadgets affected them positively, negatively,
neutrally
