COURSE ASSESSMENT LEARNING AND GRADING

As evidence of having attained the course outcomes, students have to produce outputs and perform well on plates.

RUBRIC 1:
Task Description: Assessing Drawing Quality
• Gauges the student's skills and knowledge of the properties of each medium and the principles of naturalistic rendition.

Dimension 1: Execution, Definitiveness, and Accuracy of lines and strokes (constitutes 50% of the grade for Rubric 1)

Proficient (1.0 - 1.7) = The work shows the use of minimal lines and strokes that suggest confidence and demonstrate correct delineation of shape
and contour. 35 – 40 points

Adequate (1.8 – 2.4) = The work does not show the economy of lines and strokes but still demonstrates some accuracy in the delineation of shape
and contour. 34 - 30

Needs Improvement (2.5 – 3.0) = The rendering of lines and strokes shows hesitation and lack of confidence resulting from a lack of sense of
accuracy in the delineation of shape and contour. 29 - 20

Poor (3.1 – 4.0) = The work shows extraneous or unnecessary use of lines and strokes that are misplaced or rendered in wrong areas or direction
resulting in confusing execution of shape and contour.

Dimension 2: Design/ Composition and Concept (constitutes 50% of the grade for Rubric 1)

Proficient (1.0 – 1.7) = The work reflects an excellent grasp of principles and elements of design composition. It demonstrated a very good
understanding of the relationship between form and content. The concept is very original and witty.

4
Adequate (1.8 – 2.4) = The work reflects an attempt to organize the elements but with few digressions. The concept is weak owing lack of
understanding of theme or wit.

Needs Improvement (2.5 – 3.0) = A few principles of composition are observed but some unnecessary elements add visual clutter. A weak grasp of
the theme and use of clichés is evident.

Poor ( 3.1 – 4.0) = The work is cluttered and clearly reflects very little knowledge of design fundamentals. A weak concept arises from a lack of
understanding of the theme or use of cliches.

GRADING SYSTEM:
Midterm Grade = Class Standing 50% + Plates 50% FS= Class Standing 50% + Plates 50%
Final Grade = Midterm Grade 1/3 + Final Score 2/3
