JOSE RIZAL
José Protacio Rizal Mercado y
Alonso Realonda was born on June
19, 1861 (Calamba, Philippines).
He's regarded as the Philippine
National Hero owing to his works
and sacrifices for our dear country.
He battled for our freedom in a silent
yet strong way. Through his works,
Introduction he urged Filipino revolutionists to
stand and fight for our rights and
freedom under Spanish rule. His
famous novels are Noli Me Tangere
and El Filibusterismo in which he
condemned Spanish colonization
and the Catholic Church in the
Philippines. Instead of raising arms,
he utilizes intellectual courage to
instill an idea in the Filipino. He died
at the age of 35 (December 30,
1896).

GENERAL ANTONIO LUNA
Antonio Narciso Luna de San
Pedro y Novicio Ancheta, a Filipino
army general, was born on October
29, 1866(Binondo, Manila). He fought
against American colonizers and his
assassination happened on June 5,
1899. He was known as one of the
fiercest generals by his time. General
Antonio Luna is also known as
Heneral Artikulo Uno, Taga-ilog and
Cafre. He became director of the war
against American colonizers. He had
a unique style of fighting, and he was
also known as a strict and disciplined
general. Due to that, there were
numbers of Filipino sergeants that
had punished and disliked him and
led them to assassinate General
Antonio Luna.
Compared to Jose Rizal, General
Luna demonstrated physical courage
through the bloody revolution. His
bravery brought him in the face of
hardship, and physical pain, threat,
and death to fight for the Philippines'
freedom and independence from the
American colonizers.

one of the scenes that
showed bravery was when he
climbed his horse, holding
only a single rifle, and
marched towards the
Americans who were
unleashing rains of bullets.

was assassinated by
Aguinaldo’s order and died at
the hands of his fellow
Filipino.
General Luna was known
for his foul language and great
authority upon the soldiers of
the Philippines. Far yet very
similar to Rizal, General Luna
was very strategic when it
comes to battling the
opposing side. He did not only
fight those who colonized us
but also those who were part
of the corrupt Philippine
government officials. He did
this in ways no soldier ever
thought of, sadly it just didn’t
end very well for he was
betrayed.
