SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN GRADE 9

Presented by: TRIXIA JANE S. SUMINGUIT BSED-SCI-2

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding how the different structures of the
circulatory and respiratory systems work together to transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients to the
different parts of the body.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to conduct an information dissemination activity
on effective ways of taking care of the respiratory and circulatory systems based on data gathered
from the school or local health workers.

Learning competences: The learners should be able to explain how the respiratory and circulatory
systems work together to transport nutrients, gases, and other molecules to and from the different
parts of the body.

Code: S9LT-la-b-26

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Identify and describe the parts of respiratory system
2. Explain how the respiratory and circulatory system working together to transport nutrients,
Gases and other molecules of the body,
3. Cooperate to the group activity and class discussion.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A.) TOPIC: THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM

B.) MATERIALS:
PICTURES AND VIDEOS
MANILA PAPER
CARTOLINA
MARKER PEN

- Prayer
- Greetings
- Checking of attendance
B.) REVIEW
1. What was our lesson yesterday?
C.) MOTIVATION
A.) Picture will flashed on screen, the students will asked the following questions.

A.) Respiratory system B.) Circulatory system

GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. What is respiratory system?
2. What is circulatory system?
B.) How Do You Breath?
Put your hand below your chest and take a deep breath three times.
1. What changes in your cavity do you observe when you inhale?
2. What changes in your cavity do you observe when you exhale?
IV. LESSON PROPER
1.1 ACTIVITY
a.) The class will be arrange according to their groups.
b.) The following materials will be distributed each groups.
*demonstrate the respiratory and circulatory system
*question about the respiratory and circulatory systems working with the other organ system.
*manila paper
*marker pen
c.) Each group will be given a video about the topic and answer the provided
questions.
d.) After they watch the video they will discussing their answers and what they observe
at that time with their groupmates, they will be given to present their output on the class.
1. ANALYSIS
GUIDE QUESTION
1. How does the respiratory and circulatory system function?
2. What does the circulatory system consist of?
3. How does the respiratory system and circulatory system work together?
2. ABSTRACTION
*Video presentation
*The respiratory system functions in the exchange of gases between the body cells and the
environment.
*The respiratory system consist of the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and the lungs that
contain the bronchial tree and the air sacs.
*The breathing process involves the alternate contraction and relaxation of the diaphragm, abdominal
muscles, and intercostal muscles.
*Actual exchange of gases takes place between the alveoli of the air sacs and the blood.
*Various disorders affect the circulatory and respiratory systems.
*Lifestyle and harmful substances can be affect the functioning of the circulatory and respiratory
systems.
V. EVALUATION
The teacher will give a long/short quiz to their students about the topic.
1.) *complete the diagram of the respiratory system. 2points each

2. Directions: Fill in the blank with the appropriate vocabulary word or words (several examples
require a short phrase).
1. Two branches of the trachea _____bronchi______.
2. Air sacs at the end of bronchioles ____alveoli___.
3. Main organs or the respiratory system ___lungs (nasopharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi)_____.
4. Maximum amount of air that can be moved into and out of the respiratory system __vital
capacity____.
5. Subdivisions of the bronchi ____bronchioles______.
6. Structure in the respiratory system located in the throat behind the mouth ____pharynx____.
7. Action during which air is pulled into the lungs ___inspiration______.
8. Elastic folds of tissue located inside the larynx _____vocal cords___.
9. Large flat muscle responsible for inhalation and exhalation ____diaphragm____.

VI. ASSIGNMENT
Make a comic book about the Respiratory system and circulatory system working with the
other organ systems.
GUIDE QUESTIONS,
1.) IMAGINE YOU ARE THE ONE OF THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM, WHAT IS YOURE
CONTRIBUTION TO OUR BODY SAME AS CIRCULATORY SYSTEM.
