DAILY LESSON LOG 9

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate how the different structures of the circulatory and respiratory systems
A. Content Standards
work together to transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body.
The learners should be able to conduct an information dissemination activity on effective ways of
B. Performance Standards taking care of the respiratory and circulatory systems based on data gathered from the school or
local health workers
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. identify the key parts of the breathing system
C. Learning Competencies/ 2. describe the function of each part of the breathing system and how the air passes
Objectives through it
Write the LC code for each 3. recognize the importance of each part of the human breathing system

S9LT-la-b-26
II. CONTENT Parts and Functions of the Respiratory System
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide pages Teacher’s Guide for Grade 9 pp. 3-7
2. Learner’s Materials pages Learner’s Material for Grade 9 pp. 2-5
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR) portal
B. Other Learning Resources Powerpoint presentation, visual aid/pictures, other audio-visual presentation
Respiratory System Song
IV. PROCEDURES
A. ELICIT The teacher will present a picture of a human system. The following questions will be asked by
the teacher:
1. What are the different system in our body?
2. What are the main/most important part in each system?
3. How are these system important to our living?
B. ENGAGE For this part, the teacher will use the two pictures taken from the activity.

Activity: Picture Analogy

The teacher will show the picture of an unlabeled human breathing system
Guide Questions:
1. What does each part of the “Bunch of Grapes” model represent, in relation to the
breathing system?
2. How will you describe the pathway of oxygen in the breathing system?

C. EXPLORE Video Presentation: “The Respiratory System Song”

The teacher will present a video regarding the structures and functions of the human breathing
system. (Let the students sing the song – the teacher will provide copy of the song for the
students)

Group activity: Your Respiratory System

The student will be group into 4 and Look at the diagram. Read about what each part of the
respiratory system does. Label each part of the respiratory system on the diagram.

D. EXPLAIN Now that the student have identify the parts and functions of the human breathing system. They
are now arrange the passageway of air in the respiratory system.
Activity: Sequencing
____And then through trachea or windpipe, which separates into two branches, called bronchial
tubes or bronchi, one entering each lung.
____Finally becoming hairlike tubes called bronchioles.
____In the last part of the terminal bronchioles are tiny bubble-like bunch of structures called
alveoli or airsacs.
____The air we breathe goes through the nose and nasal passages.
____The bronchi subdivide many times inside the lungs, analogous to the branching pattern of
grapes.

E. ELABORATE Activity: Are our lungs healthy?

Compare the healthy pair of lungs to the other types of lungs.

How do you think each person’s condition affects their ability to breathe?
H. Evaluating learning EVALUATE
MULTIPLE CHOICE: Choose the letter of the correct answer.
1. _________ is made up of the organs in the body that help us to breathe.
a. Circulatory system b. Nervous system c. Respiratory System d. Excretory System
2. A part that is similar to the main stem of a bunch of fruit
a. Trachea b. Bronchioles c. Bronchi d. Alveoli
3. Which part on the circulatory system is similar to a bunch of grape fruit?
a. Trachea b. Bronchioles c. Bronchi d. Alveoli
4. In which part of the lungs does gas exchange occur?
a. Bronchi b. Alveoli c. Bronchioles d. Trachea
5. It is a muscle that moves up and down to help expand your lungs
a. Ribs b. trachea c. Diaphragm d. alveoli
EXTEND 1. In your notebook, draw and label the parts of the respiratory system.
2. Have readings on the respiratory system ailments.
V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of learners who have caught
up with the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did these
work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor
can help me solve?
