Advanced Casing and Tubing Design

This session covers advanced topics in casing and tubing design. The course is
structured such that upon completion, participants should have confidence in
developing a safe and cost-effective tubular design. Attendees are encouraged to bring
in well designs, well problems, both past and present, to use as in-class exercises.

Day 1- Fundamental Design Principles (4 hr)

A. Material Aspects - This section takes an in depth look at the material aspects of
design. Basic material science concepts are followed by a detailed look at API
5CT.
1. Pipe Mechanics
2. Chemistry & Heat Treatment
3. ISO 15156/NACE MR0175: Sour Service Design
4. Selecting the Appropriate Corrosion Resistant Alloy

B. Connections - The components of a connection and connection selection

techniques are discussed. Upon completion, participants should be able to select
an appropriate API or proprietary connection.
