The learners should be able to enumerate ways of grouping animals based on the
structure and importance.

At the end of the lesson, Grade 3 pupils should be able to:
a. Identify the animals in their immediate surroundings,
b. Describe the animals in their immediate surroundings.

A. Preparatory Activities

2. Motivation
Teacher will post a word search on the board and the pupils will encircle
the names of the animals that they see on the word search.

B. Presentation
Teacher will ask the pupils what are the name of animals found in the word
search and describe it.

C. Activity
Teacher will divide the class into 2 groups. Each groups will be given 3 different
pictures of animals and they are going to name and describe it. Teacher will give
10 minutes to finish the task and afterwards each group will present it to the
class.

Teacher will ask question related to the activity.
1. What have you observe in our activity?
2. Give at least 1 animal and describe it in your own word.
3. What are the animals that you can see in your surrounding?

E. Abstraction
Teacher will discuss the lesson to the class about the animals in immediate
surroundings.
Animals in their Immediate Surroundings

 There are different kinds of animals that live in different places. The
habitat may be on land, in water or both land and water.
 The land or terrestrial habitat can be farm, forest, desert and tundra.
Animals which live in the farm are domesticated or tamed. They are good
source of food and clothing. They also help man in their work.
 Terrestrial animals are all the animals that live on land. This means, that
we can exclude all sea creatures and some birds. Most birds and insects
are also considered terrestrial animals even though they can fly. 
Some examples are:
1. Dogs -Man’s best friend, it is a canine and a direct descendent
of wolves. Dogs are valued for their intelligence. They are the
protector of the house.
2. Bird- a warm-blooded egg-laying vertebrate distinguished by the
possession of feathers, wings, and a beak and (typically) by being able
to fly.
3. Cow- a fully grown female animal of a domesticated breed of ox, kept
to produce milk or beef.
4. Chicken- Chickens are one of the most common and widespread
domestic animals. It lays egg and provide as food to people.
5. Duck - A duck is a bird that spends much of its life on or near water.

F. Application
In a one whole sheet of paper draw an animal that you can see in your
surroundings. Teacher will give 15 minutes your finish your output then
afterwards you are going to present it to the class.

IV.EVALUATION
In a one whole sheet of paper, write the name of animal that is describe in each
number. Write your answer on the space provided.
