Learning
Learning is the process of acquiring new, or modifying existing,
knowledge, behaviors, skills, values, or preference. The main characteristic of
learning that it is a process of obtaining knowledge to change human behavior
through interaction, practice, and experience. Learning has several characters and
also several types. The characteristics of learning are:
a. Learning involves change
b. All learning involves activities
c. Learning request interaction
d. Constitute learning
e. Learning is a lifelong process
f. Learning occurs randomly trough out life
g. Learning involves problem solving
h. Learning is the process of acquiring information
i. Learning involves far more than thinking
j. Experience is necessary for learning.
The types of learning styles:
a. Visual (spatial)
As the name suggests, visual learners are those that learn best
when they have an image or cue to help them process the
information. They may also need to map out or write out their
thoughts in order to really process what they are thinking.
b. Aural (auditory-musical)
c. Aural learning is a unique type of learning style, but it is used to
classify those who respond primarily to sound.
d. Verbal (linguistic)
e. Verbal learners learn best both under verbal instruction and writing.
They typically excel with both. These learners are typically those that
go into public speaking, writing, journalism, and debating.
f. Physical (kinesthetic)
g. If you are someone who like getting their hands dirty, then you are
likely a physical learner. Physical learners are extremely animated and
always need to be moving. They learn best by going through the
motion of what they are learning.
h. Logical (mathematical)
i. Most logical thinkers end up being engineers, mathematicians, or
pursuing the sciences. This is because they have a very unique way of
learning.
j. Social (interpersonal)
k. As the name suggest, social learners are natural group workers. For
students, these are the individual that seem to be involved in every
extracurricular activity.
l. Solitary (intrapersonal)
m. Solitary learners are individual who simply prefer to learn on their
own and keep to themselves.
B. Training
Training focuses on specific job knowledge and skill that is to be applied
in short run. Training is important for adapt to increased diversity of the
workforce, respond to organizational restructuring, and support career
development. Any some types of training, that is:
a. Retraining. Maintaining worker knowledge and skill as job
requirements change due to, technological innovation and
organizational restructuring.
b. Skills training. Skills training is overcoming performance deficits of
the workforce.
c. Team training. Training self – directed teams with regard to
management skills, coordination skills.
d. Creativity training. Using innovative learning techniques to enhance
employee ability to spawn new ideas and new approaches.
