ARTISTIC/ CREATIVE SKILLS

A short story of how these started:

INNATE or ACQUIRED?

01. SINGING
⬇️
My parents used to own five videokes for the
business when I was little. My oldest brother,
along with the rest of my family, would always
ask me to sing them "birit songs" and cheer for
me. That's when I thought, "Do I really have a
nice voice?" Then my dad encouraged me to join
singing competitions here at our place at the age
of 10. I was lucky; I won. Then they made me join
again and again, but not until I lost my dad
when I was 14. I lost my biggest fan. I lost the
belief that I could do well in singing.

Then SHS came, and STC made me find my way back to my passion. I
joined a choir called the Singing Theresian Ensemble, and I was able to
share my talent with a lot of people. We perform during mass, weddings,
events, and for school activities.

02. PAINTING
When I was in high school, I took some
art classes, which inspired me to start
painting. I am the kind of person who
gets satisfaction from bringing joy to
other people. I consider myself to be an
ambivert.
I have some reservations about letting other people know how I really
feel. When I first started painting, therefore, I censored myself because I
didn't want to be evaluated negatively. I never considered myself a
painter, but when I started experimenting with making abstract
paintings, I had the impression that someone was listening to what I had
to say. So, I continued doing it for self expression.

03. DANCING

Even though dancing was never really my

passion, I started taking dance lessons
when I was in elementary school. At first, I
only participated in dancing competitions
and presentations for the sake of my
grades. However, when I was in high school,
I discovered that I actually enjoyed it and
continued to compete all the way through
college. When I was in my very first year of
college, I participated in the "Cariosa"
dance competition.

04. CRAFTING/CROSS
STITCHING

Crafting, like sewing and cross-

stitching, has been my favorite
thing to do for leisure.

My grandma has a sewing machine, and when I was little, I used

to bug her to teach me how to operate it. Then I attended classes
for cross-stitching and sewing when I was in junior high school. I
am proud that I can now sew clothes for babies, not like a
professional, but good enough.
