Chapter 1
It was nearing Spring Break when the Grayson family relocated
from Bonn, Germany to Louisville, Kentucky in the US. The
Grayson’s were regular middle-class folks, James had gotten a
promotion to manager of the company’s branch in Kentucky. Even
Though everyone was excited for the promotion they were still in
deep sadness because they will have to leave all their friends and
hometown behind.
Chapter 1

James had a beautiful wife by the name of Annmarie, his

daughter Mayann and his son Tommy. Mayann was a student at
Bucklerberry High, little Tommy was in 5th grade at
Bucklerberry elementary, and Annmarie was a housewife.
Among them all James and Mayann were the more exposed
persons to the english language. Only having two weeks to get
ready for departure James had a private tutor come in
Chapter 1

to teach his wife and son as much english as possible.

The day finally came when they had to leave Germany, with
a mixture of happiness and sadness the bid farewell to friends
and family and left. Upon arriving to Luisville it was quite a
drive to get to the house, a 25 minute walk from the town. It was
a modern looking cottage with a beautiful garden in the back ,
stone paved driveway in a open spaced yard.
Chapter 2

When they saw the cottage they were so excited. “This is bigger
than our house in Bonn” Annmarie said with excitement. “yes, it
really is a beauty, things are looking up for us already” replied
James proudly.
Chapter 2

The kids rushed in the house, Tommy shouted “dibs on the

second largest bedroom” “ Not if i have something to say about
it” exclaimed Mayann running after her little brother. The house
was more beautiful on the inside with a dining room as big as a
ballroom, the living room as luxurious as the royal palace, the
kitchen was spacious and inviting, a great royal

chandelier in the hallway and grand staircase leading up to the

second floor. On the second floor there were the bedrooms,
bathrooms and a beautiful balcony with a view of the
surrounding forestry.
Chapter 2

Spring Break was in a few week, James had Mayann

enrolled at Luisville high and Tommy at Copers Elementary. A
few days before spring break Mayann went to school. On her
first day everyone stared at her as if she was an alien, but on her
second day an emo girl in her literature class sat with her at
lunch. “ Hey I’m cassie i’m in your literature class, you
Chapter 2

are Mayann right” Cassie said as she sat down “ yes” Mayann
said delightedly., “ I know it must be hard being the new girl, so i
decided to break the ice and make it a lot easier” Cassie smiled “
thanks i really appreciate it” Mayann replied politely “ we can
hang out after school” cassie suggested, “ sure, but not at my
place, we still haven’t finished unpacking as yet”
Chapter 2

Mayann stated. “ Cool so my place then” cassie shrugged. The

bell went off and the girls headed off to class. When school was
over Mayann waited for cassie in the parking lot. While waiting,
she called her mother to let her know she’ll be home late.
Chapter 3

Cassie finally showed up and both girls hopped on

their bicycles and pedaled off. After arriving to cassie’s house
Mayann said “ wow you have a nice home here” “thanks” Cassie
replied “ so where do you live? Want anything?” Cassie
questioned as she opened the fridge “ A coke will do” Mayann
delightedly reply. “ I live in a cottage 30

minutes north from here” Mayann continued. “ Wow you live out
of town that's quite a journey to bike everyday to school, you
must be very fit.” Cassie teased. The girls had a great time
chatting and getting to know each other better.
Chapter 4

It was finally spring break and cassie had gotten jobs

for her and Mayann as baristas at a local coffee shop. Mayann
made more friends at school. There was Nina, Tera and Scott .
During the spring break Tera suggested a sleepover everyone
chose Mayann’s house for the venue since it was the most
accommodating of them all. On the second night of the
Chapter 4

sleepover James had a meeting in south Carolina with the board

of directors he asked Annmarie to accompany him on his journey
and left Mayann to babysit Tommy until they returned. They left
the following morning , and Tommy went to scout the
environment. After a couple hours past, Mayann found out
tommy was nowhere to be seen, she and her
Chapter 4

friends started to search for him. “ Tommy, tommy it's not funny
come out wherever you are” Cassie said as she checked the
rooms. After searching the whole house and unsuccessful in
finding Tommy they headed out towards the forest. “ Tommy,
Tommy” everyone shouted but still no answer. “ Where could he
have wandered off to “ Mayann said with concern in her
Chapter 4

voice. “ we’ll find him” Nina said with optimism. Deeper and
Deeper in the forest they went. “ Tommy, Tommy” They called
but still no answer. “ Mayann” Tera called stunningly “ was there
always a lake in your backyard”. She trailed off. “ I have never
been this far” Mayann replied as she gazed at the lake. “ Does
Tommy own a baseball cap?” Scott asked as he

took it off the ground. “ Yes it’s his favourite cap he must be
nearby” Mayann exclaimed, “Tommy, Tommy where are you?”
she shouted. Then suddenly the water started to move. Tera said “
Guy’s I think you need to see this” “ what is it?” scott replied “
the water is moving” Tera whispered, scott and nina laughed
“come on tera stop being so childish it’s water of

course it’s going to move” chuckled nina. Cassie replied “ It's a

lake there is no way the water can move unless” “ something is
inside!” They all exclaimed at once. Mayann ran towards the lake
calling out Tommy’s name. Scott, Nina and Tera followed behind
her. “ I can’t swim” Cassie shouted as she watched them entering
the lake.
Chapter 5

Then suddenly Mayann screamed out. A decomposed

body popped up from under the water. The body was grey
decomposed, soaked, shriveled skin; eyeballs as white as snow
and mouth as black as night. “ oh my god” Tera panicked “ Who
is this” Mayann panicked “ I don’t know” nina replied panicking
“lets get outta here!” Scott exclaimed making there

there way back to land Tera screamed “ something is holding me

back” Scott and Mayann turned back to help tera when suddenly
a beast rose up from the water. It was as tall as a cherry tree it
was slender and had tentacles for hands, it seemed as if it was
decomposing slugs sliding on its cheeks and mushroom growing
on it’s skin. With one bite the

beast open its mouth and ripped Tera’s head off and the body
sank to the depths of the lake. Mayann and Scott swam as fast as
they could the beast slithered in the water like a snake and
shoved it’s tentacle through scott and mayann’s chest. Paralyzed
with fear cassie just stood there looking at the beast savaging her
friends Nina swam to the land and gabbed cassie’s

hand and shouted “ come on let’s go ” as they were running off

nina was forcefully pulled back and turned around to see nina be
dragged back into the lake with the beast tentacles through her
chest and then it ripped her right into half. Cassie being petrified
just stood there till she heard footsteps coming, it was Tommy
and he just stood there and

smiled. Then turned to Cassie and said “ Grayson hates when

visitors go in the lake” “ Beware the lake” he smirked.
Chapter 6

When james and annmarie got back they saw Cassie

outside just staring into the woods and tommy riding his bicycle.
After noticing how unresponsive cassie was they called the
police. They took cassie in for questioning and the only thing
cassie could do was to grab the ar of an officer and shout
