today and give it to me after the discussion.

Okay Sir.

B. Review

Last meeting, I discussed the ‘Work Safety’

right?
Yes Sir.

Then what is the meaning of work safety? Yes

Romalyn.
Sir Work safety was established regulations
designed to eliminate personal injuries and
illnesses from occurring in the workplace.

Very Good. If the procedures are not being

followed, what hazards may happen in the
Sir slips, trips and falls.
working area? Can you give an example? Yes
Bea.

Excellent! What is the sign of poor working

attitude? Yes Nicole.
Sir carelessness.

That is correct! It seems like you did listen to our

discussion. It is necessary for longer used.
Understand?
Yes Sir.

C. Motivation

So class before we move on to our next topic, I

prepared here a video. Watch the video and pay
attention because I’ll ask you some questions
later. Understand? Yes Sir.
(After watching the video)

So class, what do you observed about the video?

Sir it is all about the first aid.

D. Presentation

Our topic for today is all about ‘First Aid’. But

before that, what comes to your mind when you
heard first aid? Yes Jeffrey.
Sir it is the help given to injured person.

Very good. First Aid is the assistance given to any

person suffering a serious illness or injury, with
care provided to preserve life, prevent the
condition from worsening, or to promote
recovery. Have you seen injured person?
Yes Sir.

Then what does the rescuer did to the injured

person? Yes Nicolett.
Sir they used first aid to help and preserve
life.

Good observation. For today’s topic, we are going

to tackle the general rules or procedure of giving
first aid. Please read the procedures in the screen.
Yes Justine. General Rules/Procedure of Giving First
Aid

1. Remember that you are a first aider.

2. Send for medical help immediately
when necessary.
3. Keep calm.
4. Do first thing first.
5. Expect the worst.

Okay class, this are the procedures to be followed.

We have remaining 15 procedures here. I would
like each students to read and explain the
procedures. Yes Bea. 6. Keep the victim quiet and comfortable.
7. Check for bleeding, breathing, poisoning,
fractures and dislocation.
8. Keep victim warm.
9. Do not give water or food to the
unconscious.
10. Give water never alcohol.
The procedures told has something to do with the
concern to the injured person. How about the next
11. Keep onlookers away.
five procedures? Yes Jeffrey.
12. Never waste time.
13. Loosen tight clothing.
14. Splint fractures and dislocation
15. Protect victim from vomiting and other
secretions by turning head sideways.
Okay class, the said procedures was all about the
surroundings of the patient. Concerning with the
physical and emotional of the person. How about
the last five procedures? Yes Angelica. 16. Don’t be in hurry when moving victims.
17. Reassure the victim. Keep him or her
cheerful.
18. Don’t let the victim see the injury to
avoid shock.
19. Don’t touch wounds with hands or
mouth.
20. Notify parents or relatives of the injured.
Reassuring the victim and making him or her
cheerful will be easier to calm the patient. The
next will be about Poisoning. Please the
definition, Yes Nicole. When strong chemical like insecticides have
been swallowed, medical assistance should
be sought immediately.

In application to the injured person we have two

ways which are; Ingesting a strong chemical and
Ingesting alkaline (ammonia). Is there anyone in
this class who encountered poisoning? None Sir.

Very good. Here are the examples in both ways

on how to heal a victim from poisoning. The next
is ‘Cessation of Breathing’. Read the definition,
Yes Lysa. When breathing stops for any reason, the
condition that arises is referred to as
respiratory arrest. The heart may continue to
beat for several minutes after the breathing
stops.

Meaning when the breathing of a person stops,

there is a problem on the patient respiratory
arrest. We have four major causes please read
each and explain. The first one is Heart Attack. Heart attack Sir. It could be cancer or
Yes Jessa. having high or low blood.

Very good. The second is Blockage of air

passage. Yes Janico.
Blockage of air passage. Sir I think it is
about the failure of passageway of blood.

Very good. How about the third one? Yes

Romalyn.
Accidents involving drowning and
electrocution.

Okay, the third one was very explanatory. The

breathing stops because of drowning or
electrocution. Last but definitely not the least, is
suffocation of gases, smoke and compression
depressant. Now we have what we called
‘Artificial Respiration’. When you heard the said
word, what comes to your mind? Yes Princess. Sir the life of patient was controlled by
oxygen operated by machine.

That is correct. The artificial respiration is the

procedure for making air to flow into and out of
the lungs of the person. Please read the next one.
Yes Julius. Mouth to mouth or mouth to nose technique
is the most practical method for emergency
ventilation.

Okay. We also have procedures on how to

perform the mouth to mouth or mouth to nose
1. Wipe out quickly any visible foreign
technique. Please read them all. Yes Mark Joseph.
matter in the mouth using finger or cloth
wrapped around your fingers.
2. Tilt head back so that the chin tilts points
upward.
3. Pull or push jaw into jutting out poison.
This maneuver should remove
obstructions from the airway by moving
the base of the tongue away from the
back of the throat.
Those method are important to save victim for
drowning as well. The next one is Sprain. Yes
Rolando.
Occurs when trauma such as violent twist or
stretch causes the joints to move outside its
normal range of movement and ligaments
are torn. Sprains are common to ankle and
wrist. Allow the sprain to be fully mended
because a second or third sprain may be
worst.

Part of that we also have usual symptoms for

sprain. Read the first one. Yes Anne Loraine.
Pain and tenderness in affected area.

How about the next one? Yes Angelica.

Rapid swelling, sometimes with

discoloration of the skin.

The last one? Yes Norilyn.

Impaired joint function

We have what we called PRICE, it is the

emergency approach for minor sprains. What are
those? Yes Michaella.
Protection, Rest, Ice, Compression and
Elevation.

Exactly! The second to the last is Strains. Please

read, Yes John Michael.
It is a muscle injuries caused by stretching
the muscle beyond a reasonable limit.
Muscle fiber may be torn from their
attachment and the tendon that attached the
muscle to the bone may be ruptured or even
pulled loose. This happen when lifting
heavy weight and when the person slips.

The strain is also known as ‘Pulikat or Pilay’. The

last will be Fracture. Read the definition. Yes
Leo. The more severe type of fracture in which
the ends of the broken bone pierces the
muscle and the skin is called ‘compound
fracture’. This is more serious. Other tissues
are in danger of infection.

In fracture, we have normal or simple fracture and

compound fracture. What the difference between
those two? Yes Janico.
The normal is just a common fracture while
the compound fracture is a severe fracture
that might lose his/her legs.

Very good. Those are the hazards we may

encounter and safety procedures that we need to
apply using First Aid. Do you have questions?
None Sir.

E. Generalization

If you did listen to our discussion, what is our

topic for today?

First Aid Sir.

Very good. What are the two procedure that

needs to do when someone has been poison? Yes

That’s correct. How about the most practical

method for emergency ventilation? Yes Norilyn.
Mouth to mouth or mouth to nose technique
Sir.

Very good. What are the emergency approach

for minor sprains? Yes Mica.
PRICE Sir.
Very good. It seems like you did listen to our
discussion.

F. Application

Okay class, let’s have an activity. In ½ crosswise
