Good morning class! Good morning, Ma’am Jazel. Good

morning classmates.
Before we start our lesson, let us
pray first.

(playing a recorded prayer)

Checking of Attendance

Again, good morning! Good morning ma’am.

How is everyone? Does somebody of None ma’am.

you here is feeling sick?

That’s good to hear class.

Is there any absent in the class? None ma’am.

Very good class!

Setting of Virtual Classroom

Rules

Before we start our lesson, let us

recall our classroom rules. Who can
read the first rule?

Yes, Learner 1? (student reads the classroom zoom

rules)

Thank you Learner 1!

A. Reviewing previous lesson TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

or presenting the new ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
lesson

Class, let us have a quick review of

our previous topic.

Anyone who can share his/her ideas (students are raising virtual hands)
of what we have discussed last
Friday?

Yes, Learner 2? Good morning ma’am/sir. Is my

audio clear ma’am?

Go ahead Learner 2. We discuss about the three

microorganisms. These are fungi,
protists and bacteria mam.

Very good Learner 2!

Can someone tell me what fungi are? (students are raising virtual hands)

Learner 3, are you raising your Yes ma’am.

virtual hand? Fungi are eukaryotic organisms.
They eat dead and decayed
organisms.

Examples are yeasts, molds and

mushrooms.

Excellent Learner 3!

So how about protists?

Yes Learner 4. Protists are also eukaryotic
organism’s ma’am. Examples are
algae and planktons which are
commonly found in dirty areas of
water.
Very good Learner 4!
Last, how about bacteria?

Yes, Learner 5? Bacteria are prokaryotic organisms.

They are decomposers that break
down organic matter and return
their nutrients back to the soil.
Example is E.coli.

Excellent! Anything class? None ma’am.

Okay class, all that you have

mentioned is microorganisms that are
important part of our ecosystem.
These microbes play key roles in
nutrient cycling, biodegradation,
cause and control of disease and
biotechnology.

Do you have other questions or point None ma’am.

of clarifications about our previous
topic?

So, if there are no more clarifications

and questions let’s move on to our
next lesson the “Sexual and Asexual
Reproduction”.

Let me share to you my powerpoint

presentation.

B. Establishing a purpose for TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

the lesson ACTIVITY/RESPONSES

Before anything else let me present

to you our lesson objective this
morning.

Anybody who would like to read?

Yes Learner 6? Differentiate asexual from sexual
reproduction in terms of:
a. number of individuals involved
b. similarities of offspring to
parents
Thank You Learner 6!

To kick off our lesson, let’s start

with a little fun game.

Are you class ready? Yes ma’am.

So the mechanics are very simple.

1. I will show you a series of letters.

2. Arrange them properly.
3. Find the hidden word.
4. Kindly raise your virtual hand if
you know the answer.
5. Everyone is encouraged to
participate.

1. T N E R A P

Yes Learner 7? Parent!

Correct!

2.GNIRPSFFO

Yes Learner 8? Offspring!

Very good!

3.LACITNEDI

Yes Learner 9? Identical!

Very good!

4.EZILITREF

Yes Learner 10? Fertilize!

Excellent!

5.ECUDORPER

Yes Learner 11? Reproduce!

Correct!

Did you guys have fun? Yes ma’am!

Alright! Good game class.

Those words have something to do

with our lesson today.

C. Presenting TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

examples/instances of the ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
new lesson (Elicit)

I have here some pictures of different

organisms.

Now, I want you to identify and tell

me the number of parents needed to
reproduce an offspring.

1 parent
1 parent

2 parents

2 parents

1 parents

2 parents

D. Discussing new concepts TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

and practicing new skills ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
#1 (Engage)
Let us carefully examine the
following pictures of some
organisms we saw a while ago.

jsjh
So these are pictures of chickens and
garlic.

The chicken has two parents to able

to reproduce while the garlic only
needs one parent.

Why do you think these happen?

Yes Learner 12? Ma’am, I have seen that chickens

have two sexes. There is a female
and male while garlic has only one
sex which I believe that I cannot
determine.
Good point! What else?

Do these organisms always look the No ma’am!

same like their parents?

Yes Learner 13?

Why do you think these are possible? If an offspring is reproduced by two

parents, child will inherit both the
characteristics of the parents. In
some cases, if an offspring came
only from one parent then it will
have an identical appearance of its
parent.
Very good Learner 13!

E. Discussing new concepts TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

and practicing new skills ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
#2 (Explore)
Kindly take out your activity sheets
that I have sent to you yesterday.

This time, we will be having a movie

marathon. Together we will watch
five different short clips.

Since we already had five groups

from our last activity, I have assigned
each group a specific topic that you
will observe and examine.

After watching, you will be given 3-5

minutes to communicate through
your respective group chats to answer
the guide questions in your activity
group as a group.

Select a member to present your

answers.
Any questions on how to do this None ma’am.
activity?

Good!

Before we do that, let us recall the Be cooperative ma’am.

guidelines in doing this activity.
What is the first one?

Very good Learner 14!

That’s right! What else? Show respect to your group mates.

Don’t disturb other groups.
Follow directions correctly.
Excellent!

Let’s start the activity.

Group 1- Vegetative
Reproduction
Group 2- Pollination
Group 3- Budding
Group 4- Internal Fertilization
Group 5- Fragmentation

Group 1- Vegetative Reproduction

1. In this activity, a potato tuber was

cut into pieces and was planted.
2. Observe and examine the changes
in the tubers.
3. Where did the new plants come
from?
4. How many parents did it need to
reproduce new plants?
5. What plants reproduce in the
same manner? Cite some
examples.

Group 2- Pollination

1. Study the male and female parts

of the flower. What qualities do they
have?
2. What does the stamen have?
What do we call the dust-like
particles in it?
3. What process spreads pollen to
other plants? What organisms aid in
this process?
5. How many parents are
needed to reproduce?

Group 3- Budding

1. Using a compound microscope,

study and examine the slides with
yeast cells.
2. Notice that there are smaller cells
in the yeast. Those are called buds. It
detaches itself from the mother cell
and grows into a mature cell.
3. How many parents are needed to
reproduce?

Group 4- Internal Fertilization

1. Study the picture. Where does a

sperm cell come from? Where does
an egg cell come from?
2. How many organisms are needed
to reproduce an offspring?
3. Does the offspring only have
similarities in just one parent?
Support your answer.

Group 5- Fragmentation

1. Observe and study the video clip.

What organism is it?
2. What happened to the flatworm
when it was cut?
3. What happened to the separated
part of the flatworm?
4. How many parents are needed for
the reproduction?
5. Does the offspring have similarities
with the parent worm? Support your
answer.

F. Developing mastery TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

(Leads to Formative ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
Assessment) Explain

Okay class, let us examine and hear

your observations from the different
videos.

Let’s have the presentation of Group Group 1 presents their work.

1.

Very good Group 1.

Next group… Group 2 presents their work.

Group 3 presents their work.
Group 4 presents their work.
Group 5 presents their work.
Excellent presentations everyone!

I have heard some important terms

from your presentations such as

1. pollination- act of transferring

pollen grains from the male anther of
a flower to the female stigma.

2. budding- a new individual

reproduction in which a new
individual develops from the
outgrowth of a part of a cell or body
region leading to a separation from
the original organism into two
individuals.

3. pollen- mass of microspores in a

seed plant appearing usually as a fine
dust.

4. stamen- male reproductive organ

of the flower

5. pistil- female reproductive organ

of the flower

6. reproduction- production of
offspring either asexual or sexual
form.

What have you observed in the

Parents of the different offsprings?
Do they have the same number of
parents?

Yes, Learner 15? No, ma’am.

Why does it happen? It is because some offspring needs
two parents in order to be produced
while others need only one parent
to reproduce.

That is correct. Does every

child/offspring look exactly the same
like their parents?

Yes, Learner 16? No, ma’am.

Why do you say so? Based on what I have watched

ma’am, the new flatworm that was
reproduce by its one pieces looked
exactly to the parent flatworm. On
the other hand, the organisms with
two parents such as we, humans,
got traits from both our parents.
Very good! That is correct.
G. Finding practical TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S
applications of concepts ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
and skills in daily living
(Elaborate)

There are two kinds of reproduction.

Asexual reproduction needs one
parent to produce an offspring.

Some examples of asexual

reproduction are vegetative
reproduction from potatoes,
budding from the yeast cells and
fragmentation just like what
happened to flatworm or planarian.

Offsprings from asexual

reproduction looks the same with
the parent organism.
Sexual reproduction requires two
Parents- a male and a female- to
reproduce.

Examples of this process are

pollination in plants and internal
fertilization in humans.

Offsprings from sexual reproduction

gets traits from both parents.

To further understand the lesson, let

us have an activity.

Please prepare your activity sheets

that I sent to you yesterday and
follow the directions.

Direction:
1. Make a Venn Diagram about
Asexual and Sexual
Reproduction.
2. Show their similarities and
differences.
3. Draw one organism that
undergo asexual
reproduction except from
the examples presented.
4. Draw one organism that
undergo sexual reproduction
except from the examples
(students do their work)
presented.

I will give you 10-15 minutes to work.

-end of time- (students present their work)

Okay class; let us have two or three

volunteers to present their work. Thank you ma’am!

Congratulations to our three

volunteers for their comprehensive
explanation and creative output.

H. Making generalizations TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

and abstractions about the ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
lesson

Let us review our lesson today class.

What are the two types of

reproduction?

Yes Learner 17? The two forms of reproduction are

Asexual and Sexual.
Correct! How many parents does an
organism need for an asexual and
sexual reproduction?

Yes Learner 18? An organism needs one parent for

Asexual reproduction while two
parents are needed for sexual
reproduction.

What can you say about the Offsprings from asexual

similarities of the offsprings to the reproduction looked the same with
parent in an asexual and sexual their parent. On the other hand,
reproduction? offsprings from sexual reproduction
gets traits from both parents.

Very good Learner 18!

I. Evaluating learning TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S

(Evaluate) ACTIVITY/RESPONSES
Write AR if the sentences refer to
an asexual reproduction and SR for
sexual reproduction.

1. Two parents are needed to

reproduce an offspring.

2. The offspring is genetically

identical to the parent.
3. A part of the parent body
breaks off from the body
and develop into a new
individual.

4. Occurs when a sperm and

egg unite to form a zygote.

5. The offspring is produced

from a single parent
usually exhibited by some
plants.

6. Mr. Fernandez cut a worm

into two pieces. She was
shocked when he saw the
two pieces move separately
and independently.

7. Sponges have smaller parts

that can grow and become
a different organism.

8. Ginger and onion can

reproduce by planting their
plant tubers in the soil

Answer Key:
1. SR
2. SR
3. AR
